ABC Bows to Woke Mob and Grants Jimmy Kimmel Another Year to Lose the Network Money and Prestige

When ABC took Kimmel off the air for five minutes, woke leftists announced a boycott of the company. He was back within days.

So of course ABC can't just let him go now. The woke mob has spoken.

They've renewed his unfunny fat show (yes, his whole show is fat, it needs Atkins in its life) for "at least" a year.

ABC has extended Jimmy Kimmel's show for at least one year after the late-night comedian was suspended in September for his controversial comments about Charlie Kirk's assassin, The Post has learned.
"Jimmy Kimmel Live!" will continue to air on the Disney-owned network until at least May 2027 under the new deal, a source told The Post.
Kimmel, 58 -- whose current contract expires in May 2026 -- told his staff on Monday that the show was renewed, according to Bloomberg, which earlier reported the news.
The agreement was reached months ago, but Kimmel and Disney held off making the announcement out of respect for late-night host Stephen Colbert, according to the report.

Oh, the agreement was reached during the woke freak-out? Not surprising at all.

CBS in May announced Colbert's show would end in May 2026, and Kimmel did not want to leave at the same time as Colbert, the report said.

His suspension came just a few hours after FCC Chairman Brendan Carr warned the network and Disney that "we can do this the easy or the hard way."

As I said at the time: Carr does in fact have the right to threaten that. There is a category of show called a "bona fide news program" which is allowed to be partisan without any "equal time" requirements. Any show that is not a "bona fide news program" cannot openly propagandize for a party without invoking the still-existing "equal time" rules.

Obviously Jimmy Kimmel (and The View) are emphatically not "bona fide news programs" so they either have to be balanced and avoid outright lying or else the GOP is entitled to run their own "equal time" propaganda shows on ABC's airwaves.

I have read a few people that claim she handles many case hat is not true but I am sure if she had underlings do all all the work and speaking. Indications from visits indicate Disney World is getting stale compared with competition Universal and declines in foreign visits due to new restrictions on travel visas and money is also hitting Vegas. Vegas is now turning hard to adult whale gamblers and Disney, by all accounts, is too with its pricing.

Reliance on a narrow set of consumers is a sure recipe for unexpected reversals like stock and asset plunges for the upper class. I think pro sports and soon college football are also pricing themselves out of the entertainment market.

All of them are chasing a very narrow class of individuals upper middle and upper classes as the truly rich seldom visit places like Disneyland or common cruise ships.

Not sure on that one. Senators have plenty of power under our system but they just hate to be held accountable. That is what is at stake. Blue slip originated in the seg era for Dem senators to block desegregationist inclined GOP judges and DAs in the South. So you got patronage parties in the South that never did anything to get votes but relied solely on doling out patronage when GOP was in the presidency. Even in the 80's, was unevenly applied like only requiring one slip, not two or allowing senior House member to dole out patronage when no GOP senator was from that state.

The truth is that the Senate, by and large, oppose Trump and it is the core of the uniparty on Capitol Hill. Morris Fiorina called Congress the Keystone of the Washington Establishment and in truth it is the fount of much of our government paralysis and dysfunction. Our elites want it that way because reform required now is so drastic as to affect their privilege.

Maybe I'm delusional, but I don't think the late night variety show *HAS* to be dead. It was just *programmed* to be dead. If a new show had a host that wasn't a partisan idiot, and he told a few jokes that had zero political connection, that part would be fine. And then he could have an actor or actress on and they could tell stories about what it was like working on their latest film or tv show. And then a current or historical musical act could come on and perform live. And in between some of that they could do a skit or a bit or two, but the one rule would have to be "We're entertainers, not politicians."

Or would that still suck?

The show is formulaic, and the acting uneven, but I enjoy Cameron Mitchell as Buck, and Frank Silvera's performance as Don Sebastian is highly entertaining.
