I would love for SCOTUS to rule that Trump can place tariffs in response to the drug emergency but that it can only affect those countries which are involved. Because that would mean that Trump can place tariffs in response to the ANY emergency but that it can only affect those countries which are involved. And I'm betting he could discover a lot of emergencies. Posted by: I used to have a different nic ==== Court is perfectly capable of delaying the matter as well. The case presented possibly has some standing problems, there is an issue of practicality making repaying tariffs difficult in the sense of billions of bucks we do not have, whether the agreements with nations over the tariffs suddenly are now deemed executive agreements (aka treaty like), etc. Most legal beagle commentators on the air or on youtube/etc are not actually constitutional law experts and even then, the whole field of tariff law has been so quiet for nearly 80-90 years that few today have any practical experience or knowledge of it. Posted by: TheJamesMadison ======= Part of it is a confused history of jus soli in the opinion, the role of sojourners in British law, and Justice Gray's ignoring the constitutional principle that later amendments alter the original document. His discussion of the 'subject to the jurisdiction thereof' part of the 14th Amendment and refusal to deal with the smelly skunk in the room--the 14th was adopted to overturn the Dred Scott decision wrought by Scotus itself (as were the 13th and 15th). Part of that horrendous Dred Scott decision was that blacks could never be citizens of the US as they were not included in the Declaration as part of all men are created equal. Thus, blacks, free or slave, could not be citizens of the US and by corollary citizens of states (thus could be expelled at will, etc.). Posted by: whig at December 09, 2025 10:16 AM (WDjG6) 177

Babies born to parents on temporary visas should also not get citizenship. There’s a whole industry of women coming here on a tourist visa at 8 months pregnant popping the kid out who then is a citizen. Mainly Chinese.
They go back home but the kid will always have the option to come back and have all the benefits of being “American”. And same thing with student visas. It’s simple one parent has to be a citizen or a green card holder for the baby to be a citizen. Just like pretty much every other country on the planet. Moses and the Brazen Serpent
Peter Paul Rubens Moses teaching a path to G*d's goodness & mercy. (The Old Testament, with "cause and effect" throughout, didn't mess around. A principle often referred to as retributive justice or the Deuteronomic formula.) Moses led the Israelites for about 40 years in the wilderness, but he did not enter the Promised Land himself, dying on Mount Nebo after seeing it from afar, due to a specific act of disobedience where he struck a rock for water instead of speaking to it as God commanded. This 40-year period was a punishment for the entire generation's disbelief after the spies' negative report, ensuring only the faithful (Joshua & Caleb) and the new generation entered Canaan. (AI Overview) Good lesson & Reubens was a Master of painting. However, I'd pass hanging today's selection. Thanks. PS - No one wrote, "Boobs!" The verb ‘to pine’ has a totally different origin ― different roots ― than the noun (the tree). While the tree noun derives from the Old English pin and Latin pinus, the verb stems from different words of yore.
The verb “to pine” derives from the Old English pinian, which meant to torment, cause to suffer, afflict, etc. Pinian in turn comes from German and Old Norse words referring to pain and punishment ― which most believe trace back to the Latin poena, meaning punishment or penalty. In Roman mythology, Poena was the spirit of punishment, known as Poine in Greek. Posted by: stu-mick-o-sucks at December 09, 2025 10:33 AM (w9Wax) 237

Or it is Reubens intentionally injecting that association into the painting.
Posted by: Anna Puma at December 09, 2025 10:43 AM (2GVsD) Reubens didn't have to come up with much on his own. From Numbers 2: 8 The Lord said to Moses, “Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.” 9 So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, they lived. Posted by: Tom Servo at December 09, 2025 10:49 AM (uWKK8) Posted by: man at December 09, 2025 10:50 AM (XuXeR) 309
He further refined his hard-won through experience advice with the general admonition that something, anything really, that needs replacing, that its replacement no matter how nice, cannot be viewed or placed in the gift column by definition. Bathroom scale would notably meet this criteria, and also have certain… implications or connotations that could perhaps be misinterpreted.

Posted by: Duncanthrax ====== That is kind of a distortion. Britain still has quite a few long arms aka shotguns, Enfields, etc. 2.2 million as of 2023 (legal). When you consider Dewats and illegals (well over 1m), even more. Handguns, not so much. These are mainly concentrated in rural areas where there is still hunting, varmint removal, etc. In the last twenty years or so, quite a few illegal handguns have been imported into the UK from across Euroland and some old unregistered handguns still reside in drawers and other places as remnants of WWI and WWII officers. Ammunition for these cached and legal arms is more of the issue. Australia is often mentioned as another gun ban paradise but in reality, the number of legal registered arms has recovered to above the numbers reported before the Australian government tried to obliterate long arms.
