The bronze serpent was later installed in the Temple in Jerusalem, and became an item of popular veneration, until a religious-reformed-minded king, Josiah, I think, ordered it removed. It was called "Nehushtan."

I think it's from the staff of Asclepius, commonly confused with the caduceus.

Either way, snakes were associated with healing in the ancient world.

Court is perfectly capable of delaying the matter as well. The case presented possibly has some standing problems, there is an issue of practicality making repaying tariffs difficult in the sense of billions of bucks we do not have, whether the agreements with nations over the tariffs suddenly are now deemed executive agreements (aka treaty like), etc.

Most legal beagle commentators on the air or on youtube/etc are not actually constitutional law experts and even then, the whole field of tariff law has been so quiet for nearly 80-90 years that few today have any practical experience or knowledge of it.

Part of it is a confused history of jus soli in the opinion, the role of sojourners in British law, and Justice Gray's ignoring the constitutional principle that later amendments alter the original document.

His discussion of the 'subject to the jurisdiction thereof' part of the 14th Amendment and refusal to deal with the smelly skunk in the room--the 14th was adopted to overturn the Dred Scott decision wrought by Scotus itself (as were the 13th and 15th).

Part of that horrendous Dred Scott decision was that blacks could never be citizens of the US as they were not included in the Declaration as part of all men are created equal. Thus, blacks, free or slave, could not be citizens of the US and by corollary citizens of states (thus could be expelled at will, etc.).

Also depending on where they are.

Britain having the largest navy in the world didn't help nearly as much with colonial revolution as one would imagine.

If most of Britain's forces are on bases throughout the country, they won't have that many in London to beat back tens or even hundreds of thousands of pissed people.

That is kind of a distortion. Britain still has quite a few long arms aka shotguns, Enfields, etc. 2.2 million as of 2023 (legal). When you consider Dewats and illegals (well over 1m), even more. Handguns, not so much. These are mainly concentrated in rural areas where there is still hunting, varmint removal, etc. In the last twenty years or so, quite a few illegal handguns have been imported into the UK from across Euroland and some old unregistered handguns still reside in drawers and other places as remnants of WWI and WWII officers.

Ammunition for these cached and legal arms is more of the issue.

Australia is often mentioned as another gun ban paradise but in reality, the number of legal registered arms has recovered to above the numbers reported before the Australian government tried to obliterate long arms.

355 Once upon a time, I got my wife a year's membership to a health club, that certainly did have "day spa" features, but also offered a gym and exercise room. This was roundly unappreciated.

Several years later, she started buying herself annual membership to the gym and pool at YMCA. It's different that way, you see.
