As expected, AMD has announced price increases for its Radeon graphics cards. Starting today, the cost to board partners of the parts (GPU chip and GDDR6 RAM) will increased by $10. (Tom's Hardware)

For 8GB cards. For 16GB cards the cost rises by $20.

Given the craziness going on right now, that is not a lot.

There may be more increases coming, but for now at least, no reason to panic.

Finding that random person in Nebraska. (Stacktower)

XKCD comic 2347 highlighted a key weakness of modern computer systems: Everything depends on "a project some random person in Nebraska has been thanklessly maintaining since 2003".

Stacktower is a Python library that inspects your own tech stack and draws a similar diagram and highlights the individual thankless maintainers, so that you can thank them.

Earlier this year, home goods maker Kohler launched a smart camera called the Dekoda that attaches to your toilet bowl, takes pictures of it, and analyzes the images to advise you on your gut health.
I can see where this is going to end.
The security researcher also pointed out that given Kohler can access customers' data on its servers, it's possible Kohler is using customers' bowl pictures to train AI.

Citing another response from the company representative, the researcher was told that Kohler's "algorithms are trained on de-identified data only."

The Dekoda costs $599 plus a mandatory subscription of at least $6.99 per month.

Phone seems to have a new problem, won't play sound on videos or Spotify, but does play alarms and think Phone call.
On off button stopped functioning a month ago maybe but got around that with tap open. Phone ever turns off not sure can get it on again

I have used Samsungs for years and am pleased with them. There is a Samsung store in my area that does repairs very quickly...maybe find one and see if they can help?

34 I bought new rechargeable batteries for my Magic Mouse, because the four I had been rotating were running out of juice every week or so, and on Day One, yesterday, suddenly random parts of a page (on AoSHq) where I clicked became highlighted and then the cursor stuck on a page (got sticky) and highlighted the whole page and would not let go. You woulda thunk it was a Monday.
