Supreme Court Okays Texas' Redistricting Map

Thank goodness.

California just amended its constitution to permit Gavin Newsom to redraw that state's map for maximum partisan advantage. Meanwhile, left-wing judges insist that Republicans aren't allowed to do the same, Because Racist.

The Supreme Court "took note" of California's similar manuever and decided, by 6 to 3, that no, it's not (D)ifferent when (D)emocrats do it any longer.

The Supreme Court said Thursday that Texas can use its new gerrymandered House map in the upcoming midterm elections, likely yielding as many as five additional seats for Republicans in the battle for control of the House.

...

By an apparent 6-3 vote, the justices granted an emergency request from Texas officials to block a lower court ruling that The court's high ruling also took note of recent Democrat-led redistricting in California, signaling that the justices may not be inclined to interfere with those efforts or similar drives in other states.

I think this means the Supreme Court will finally overturn the leftwing-judge-made "law" that states are required to use racial criteria to maximize minority "representation."

6 The lower courts decision was based on partisan subjective false reasoning when it was obvious the redistricting was solely for political advantage.

That three SC justices agreed with it shows how evil and dishonest the Left is. The Ends Justify the Means for the Left no matter what.

7 If Pennsylvania eventually gets a Republican Governor, they can do the same. Currently the Republicans control the State Senate and the Higher Legislature as well as the AG.

Previously, the Republicans tried to re-district and the PA Supreme Court shot it down (illegally). But, this USSC decision would circumvent the PA Supreme Courts interference.

14 Does Texas really have the right to separate into a total of four states? The donks would probably gerrymander the whole thing to make sure that each state contained a major donk city (Central Texas, Austin, Southern Texas, Houston, etc.). Maybe it would be possible to create one state, shaped rather like a colon, that included most of the liberal enclaves.

66 The statement that Prop 50 was amended IS NOT CORRECT.

AUTHORIZES TEMPORARY CHANGES TO CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT MAPS IN
RESPONSE TO TEXAS' PARTISAN REDISTRICTING. LEGISLATIVE
CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT. Requires temporary use of new congressional district
maps through 2030. Directs independent Citizens Redistricting Commission to resume enacting
congressional district maps in 2031. Establishes policy supporting nonpartisan redistricting
commissions nationwide. Fiscal Impact: One-time costs to counties of up to a few million
dollars statewide to update election materials to reflect new congressional district maps.

This is what was on the ballot. This is what was voted on. It pretty clearly states it is not amending the Constitution, but ignoring it. Yes, they use legislative slight of hand to try to gloss over the blatant unconstitutional power grab... but the wording on the BALLOT is what was voted on, which allows the legislature to ignore the Calif. Constitution.

The white represents the snow, or the sparkle of snow when light hit it, or so they tell me anyway. Yeah, it can be overdone though. I use both white and colored lights, especially on the tree. The white for the brightness, and the color for the color. Works great, almost like colored lights on a tree with snow. At the old house I used white and red outside on the light post out front for that candy cane thing. This house has the columns under the gable by the front door, and that will get the same treatment IF I can get the outside outlets installed in time. Nothing but white though, yeah thats a bit sterile, but I have seen it done pretty nice.

Or said otherwise, did Texas accomplish its partisan objectives by means of a racial gerrymander?”

“Without so much as a word about that standard, this Court today announces that Texas may run next year’s elections with a map the District Court found to have violated all our oft-repeated strictures about the use of race in districting. Today’s order disrespects the work of a District Court that did everything one could ask to carry out its charge—that put aside every consideration except getting the issue before it right,”

107 Does Texas really have the right to separate into a total of four states? The donks would probably gerrymander the whole thing to make sure that each state contained a major donk city (Central Texas, Austin, Southern Texas, Houston, etc.). Maybe it would be possible to create one state, shaped rather like a colon, that included most of the liberal enclaves.
Posted by: Paco at December 04, 2025 06:40 PM (mADJX)

I doubt it because it would have been ideal for the South to have done it in 1850 when CA was admitted without a partner slave state.

She will lose by 9, and people will credit the panic to Paxton's win, not the fact that sassy black women don't play well with Hispanics in general.

They turned some +25 R districts into +15s. They also are less snaky and stupid. The only rule I would put on redistricting would be to require a district to be relatively square so people in the district have some geographic sense.

My aunt had one on a small aluminum tree that was in my cousins room! I had forgotten about that. We've used both. We have one tree with white lights but with a few colored bubble lights intermixed. The other larger tree has C7 ceramic coated style bulbs, with some smaller colored minilights. At some point I assume I will be using LED C7s, but for now I can still get the old fashioned ones.
