Reportedly -- "reportedly" is a weasel word the media uses to mean "other people are reporting this, but we cannot confirm it, so we're just rewriting the original report" -- he's not only been "suddenly" fired, but was also "escorted from the office."

Executive was behind pink EV that drew criticism from Nigel Farage and Donald Trump

The designer behind Jaguar's controversial "woke" rebrand has reportedly been dismissed from the carmaker just days after a new chief executive took over.
Gerry McGovern, who was formerly Jaguar Land Rover's (JLR) chief creative officer, was told he was being dismissed with immediate effect on Monday.
He was then escorted out of the office, according to reports, although details of his exit remain unclear.
JLR, which is owned by Indian conglomerate Tata, declined to comment.
The turmoil comes just days after PB Balaji, the former finance boss of Tata Motors, succeeded Adrian Mardell as chief executive of JLR.
It brings an abrupt end to Mr McGovern's 21-year career at the carmaker, where he masterminded a revamp of Land Rover's Defender model and the company's line-up of Range Rovers.
He was also the main creative force behind last year's radical rebrand of Jaguar that aimed to shift the marque away from its traditional "Jag Man" image towards ultra-wealthy customers.

The backlash was dismissed as "vile hatred and intolerance" at the time by Rawdon Glover, the managing director of the Jaguar brand.
"We need to re-establish our brand and at a completely different price point so we need to act differently," he told the Financial Times.

So apparently the "ultra-wealthy" are the Davos set.

My local JLR dealer dropped Jaguar and merely puts on their business cards "A certified Jaguar Service Center" but no longer sells Jags.

Gerry Mc was also the lead designer behind everything in the Land Rover lineup since the 1st generation Evoque. It's been and *incredibly* successful brand in large part due to his design language he brought to the brand.

Also, the new JLR CEO is an Indian from holding company Tata motors - and he's a notorious cheapskate cost-cutter. I'm told by JLR insiders that Gerry Mc often bristled at the new environment he worked in under the new CEO.

There is no way any company dependent on sales survives a 97.5% sales collapse, even if they are a subsidiary of something much larger. Jaguar at best will from now on just be a marquee nameplate for some of Tata's other divisions.
For example, I can see a Luxury nameplate with a Jaguar nameplate on it. But nothing much more than that.

Their great "all-EV" launch is never going to happen, the big new plant in the UK will never be completed.

Again, they *stopped making new cars*. They 100% knew that they were going to have a sales collapse because there were no cars at the dealer to sell. Once the floor inventory sold out, that was it. No more cars. Jaguar was never a high volume brand so their inventory was already small.

It really wasn't a "sales" collapse. The company effectively went out of business. They shut down all sales of gas-powered cars, at a time when they had no EVs to sell either. So if a customer went into a Jag dealer and said "I'd like to buy a Jag," the response would be -- literally -- "sorry we don't have any cars to sell."

And their latest EV has been delayed -- again -- and most likely will never see the light of day. The Indian owners and new Indian management will shitcan the EV dogshit and rush new gas-powered cars to market. They already have successful SUVs and crossovers selling as Land Rovers.

Very nice car, actually fairly well-built, and initially a sales success even in the face superior sportscars from Porsche. I've driven a few F-Types on track. I was impressed. But Jag never invested much to improve or upgrade the car. In the sportscar market, if you don't upgrade the car every few years, you are dead. Buyers are fickle and will lose interest.

Once I was finished eating I took our 2yr old grandson in his stroller outside to hang out. I taught him the streetlight colors and we were having a fine time. A couple drove up and parked to get take-out in a vintage Jag. The guy (who may or may not be famous but looked familiar) and I talked while his female passenger went inside. Blonde and good looking dude. I guessed correctly that his Jag was British Racing Green. He'd had it trucked in for his vacation as so precious. Probably from the 50's or 60's but I am no expert.

I said, well, I would have ridden in it here the entire trip. Then added because I am a redneck and he laughed. Now that car I'd drive. The ones today are nothing special and look like other cars.

At one company I was at I gave my notice and come my last day my manager had to escort me out. I realized I had forgotten a sweatshirt in the building though after we were all done. He was late for something else so...he handed my his badge and just told me to leave it with the front desk.

I still chuckle about it.

But companies have the escort out requirement for a reason...sometimes it is a bad separation and you want to make sure that the employee doesn't do something that will just make things bad for them...

Not anymore.

Not with the Ingenium engines specifically. They have issues yes - but as long as you change their oil at 10k or less intervals, they have proven to be remarkably reliable. There are some Defenders out there that have more than 300,000 miles on them.

The whole "Land Rovers are junk" came from a period in time before the current manufacturing process were put in place. The Rover V8 was largely a buick engine that was notorious for eating head gaskets. The early air suspension systems were problematic.

These things are largely resolved in modern day LR. The Defender itself is made in Slovakia in a factory where assembly is 95%+ automated/robotic.

Just so everyone is clear on the facts. That 97.5% drop in sales was because - in order to "transition" to an only-EV line-up, Jaguar STOPPED MAKING NEW CARS. Completely. They stopped making cars. Once the stock on the dealer lots was gone, there was nothing for the dealers to sell.

I think he picked them out of meth head zombies on the street and put them in clown clothes.Some are fresh from border crossings.

This sums up the attraction for me. My main focus was on the first "thing" in the weird fur bottom pants, who walked like he/she/it was having what we call an "urgent call." When any of my men say this I know it is time to find a loo or a bush stat (if in the wild).

The question I have is why it took them so long to fire the guy who thinks he's Spock in his black turtleneck. I guess the HIV is in what is left of his brain to come up with this, or he took the brown acid and was desperate for a pitch one marketing meeting.
