As the Media Insists That It's Illegal To Shoot Missiles at Foreign Terrorist Drug Boats, They Also Claim That It's Okay to Shoot National Guardsmen If You Object to Their Presence

At some point, the left will have the shooting war they crave.

Charles C.W. Cooke:

Responding to the news that a crazed asylee from Afghanistan had shot two National Guard troops in Washington, D.C., the New Yorker's Jane Mayer concluded that the attack was "so tragic" and "so unnecessary," before proceeding to identify the real culprit of the abomination: President Donald J. Trump. "These poor guardsmen," wrote Mayer, "should never have been deployed."

In this ugly asseveration, Mayer was swiftly joined by a bunch of other political commentators, each more desperate than the last to train their fire on the current occupant of the White House. In The Atlantic, Juliette Kayyem wrote that "there are costs to performatively deploying members of the military, one of which is the risk of endangering them." On Twitter, the author John Pavlovitz explicitly proposed that "Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth are culpable for endangering the National Guard by putting them in harm's way." Not to be outdone, MS NOW's Ken Dilanian followed this path to its revolting terminus by suggesting that the guardsmen were "walking around with uniforms in an American city," that "there are some Americans that might object to that," and "so, apparently, this shooting has happened."

As with Charlie Kirk: The victims brought their murders at the hands of leftists upon themselves.

I'm sorry . . . what? In what possible universe could that be an appropriate response? Washington, D.C., is a federal city over which the federal government has plenary control. If, as has been the case this year, the federal government decides that it is necessary to deploy federal agents to enforce the law, it is permitted to do so without the expectation that those agents will be murdered. Certainly, the American social contract has become more complicated over time than it was back in 1787, but at no point has it come to tolerate the proposition that officials who have been sent to keep the peace should expect to be gunned down by assassins if their deployment is disapproved of by the progressive intellectual class. Politically, one can believe that Donald Trump's decision to deploy the National Guard was a good one, a bad one, or a middling one and that postulate will not change one whit. Whether they are there to pick up trash, fight an alien invasion, or solely to smile for foreign tourists, there is no circumstance in which killing them is appropriate.

Meanwhile, ABC "News" under George Sloppadopoulos and the Gay Model says that the Motive May Never Be Known, but right now we can confidently say that he shot those National Guardsmen not because he is a foreign Islamic terrorist and not becuase he was programmed to kill by a traitor media that justifies the murders of its opponents, but because... of Trump's economy.

He was feeling financial stress you guys.

This is a very useful - and general - approach.

"It's sad when cops get shot, but cops never should have been sent into those ghettos"
"It's sad when terrorists in SUVs drive through Christmas parades, but those cities should never have authorized parades where someone was Driving While Muslim"

Suddenly the "short skirt defense" is back in vogue...

Or one who wrote songs about loving a manchild, or a guy she knows is bad and hopes he won't prove her right. Or implies she stole a guy's credit card in her Espresso music vid and committed credit card fraud on his dime. Yes, that paragon of virtue.

Iron in breakfast cereals is literally tiny bits of pure metal iron pasted into the flakes. You can pull them out of your wheaties with a magnet. In use as hemoglobin, say, it is bound with a long chain carbon molecule with a particular shape that can hold oxygen.

Other stuff in vitamin capsules may be in a non carbon molecule when ingested if its something the body can use without being poison or something.

There's an interesting dynamic going on with the Russia/Ukraine Peace process. The EU leaders are absolutely livid that Trump has cut them out of the process entirely. Their primary goal is to have the conflict continue. But, if it is negated, they wanted their mugs plastered across the media for being a part of the process. They are doing their best to sabotage the efforts because they won't benefit from a peace result that doesn't include them sapping up the credit.

I suspect that this is a non-negotiable condition laid down by Russia. And, he probably didn't have to work very hard to convince Trump.

It *is* largely political, but not for the reasons the naysayers imply.

What I have found notable about the various NG deployments is that most of the time, they actually don't do much. Most of what they appear to do is, in fact, simply "showing up." The real heavy lifting is done by the local cops, as commanded by suddenly very nervous local politicians and police chiefs.

And *that* is the real - and devastating - thing about the NG deployments. These cities *could* have been peaceful at any time the local political and police heavies decided to, they just didn't decide to. America's notorious violent shitholes could have been a lot better for a long time, but nobody was willing to do so for whatever reason. Corruption, ideology, etc. - many explanations, but only one real conclusion: it's bad because they want it bad (or, at least, it's bad because they don't care to make it better).

You would be surprised. Things in the US have simply not gotten that raw since the ACW and before that, the American Revolution. WWI and WWII among others were foreign wars so you did not have kin fighting kin, neighbor versus neighbor, etc. Even much of the ACW did not exhibit that problem. For that reason, the American Revolution is probably closer to the mark and there was a similar differences in loyalty between the urban elites and the rural types in that war as well. Many of those urban elites were friends of the Crown because the Crown relied upon them to put down their fellow countrymen. Twas not forgotten after the war.

As Trump told Zelensky as well, Europe has no cards to play in Ukraine. They have no troops to speak of and their economy is tanking. Ukraine's ability to even hold a stable front is declining and Russia can punch out some strongpoint and engulf it only subject to safely getting supplies to the line. This will only get worse as the region fortified since 2014 is occupied and open lands are left to defend.

Trump wants the endgame to be at a conference table rather than on the ground, but either way it is going to be on Russia's terms. The EU and Ukraine are still delusional.

146 And *that* is the real - and devastating - thing about the NG deployments.

147 You would be surprised.

I would say it's the problem of "everything looking like a nail".

You can "work smarter, not harder". That much is clear.

And this occurrence creates the econiche intellectuals live in. However, that some things can be improved by some "re-examinations", does not mean that every act of rethinking contributes to "working smarter".

But academics rely on a overabundance in the skill of re-thinking in relation to physical effort. Thus academics rely on the hype of re-thinking.

Thus there is a bias toward ignoring real world complications for the simplification to a theory. And to hype it all the while you're doing it.

It was one of the gains of actual Science that produced measurable gains through theory. But again, the overgeneralization that all Science endeavors are equally profitable creates another econiche.

200 In case you're wondering how well-founded the Deep State thinks the obscenely corrupt dismissal of the charges against Comey were, they are still in DefCon 1 toward killing the case.

Current development is demanding that the electronic evidence, which the government legally seized years ago, cannot be "re-accessed" without a new warrant.
To be clear:
It was legally in the possession of the government.
And it remained legally in the possession of the government.
But, since the warrant it was seized under was some time ago and didn't say "to seize information related to all crimes of James Comey" it can't be "accessed" again by the government.
You know, like if the police search a house for tax evasion and find a bloody knife w/ your fingerprints next to a dead body, they can't use the knife in your murder trial.

If you don't understand why, it's because you stupid and didn't go to Harvard.

Then I tried using it more heavily and I was unimpressed with its tendency to make things up or lose context or offer partial solutions. Then I learned how to give better prompts and make it more useful. Then I hit its limitations again.

I think the market generally reacting to the same successes and failures of AI as it stands today. On the surface, it's like magic. Then you dig in and you find issues. But it's still much more useful than many of its detractors seem to think.

The better question is whether China will risk attempting to project force to a location half a world away to protect its financial interests and maintain the value of properties it financed.

They certainly weren't when Sri Lanka fell, and that would have been much easier than Central America. China can't really project force all that far. That is the basic problem with Belt and Road and its related programs. If the property fails or gets expropriated, Red China essentially can't take it over.

---
There's a well-known tactic to fraud; to compartmentalize the actors.
The Seditious Six did not know the whole plan; only "make this video." Which they eagerly did b/c, their minds, it's a mild jab at Trump but fully legal.
Last week, they were floundering, flopping for an answer to "what orders were/are illegal?"
One attempt was to retcon some fabrication from Esper's book, that Trump asked if he could order the Guard to "shoot BLM protestors in the legs."
No one read the book and no one had verified that quote.
The "kill them all" was to be the illegal order.
But, I think they had to deploy that early b/c of the shooting; it was to be rolled out after weeks of denial from Trump and Hegseth.
It's always a Watergate replay w/ the left ....
