Funky. I didn't know how deep into "Our Love" New Order had got. (This is the first time I'd heard it.)
I've been in a rabbithole on early New Order lately. Apparently "Blue Monday" started as filler which they programmed after the band's actual set, so they could slip away and drink beers before going back for the encore. So, for this beat, they just filched from everything, like Donna Summer, and Kraftwerk too. It wasn't supposed to be a real song. Eventually they'd stolen from so many other songs that nobody even noticed the Frankenstein monster of old disco b-sides and Eurotrash. And then they released "Blue Monday" at a literal loss and everyone... kept buying the single. Cost Factory Records a fortune. Posted by: gKWVE at December 03, 2025 10:22 PM (gKWVE) 74

Radios were interesting, everyone wants to install a polarized plug on the old school radios. Except, that’s not how it works. For one, the chassis will be “hot”, either when the radio is ON or OFF if it is plugged in, depending on which way the plug is inserted. No way around this unless you rewire the chassis. It will usually have a noticeable slight hum if the chassis happens to be hot when ON. Flip the plug in the outlet, and avoid using in the tub, or cement floors in your stockings. It is a surprise to get a jolt when touching a chassis while grounded, and the device is OFF. It isn’t defective, that’s just how they made shit back then. Be careful, went the thinking Posted by: Common Tater at December 03, 2025 10:33 PM (eGKtV) 113

Did they ever actually test these re-chargeable mail trucks? I mean, you know, on an actual mail route with actual carriers at an actual post office?

We used to make what we called sling rifles .
3 ft piece of 1x1 or 1x2. A bag of wooden clothespins and a bag of the heavy duty rubber bands. Pin nail at one end . Clothespin with opening facing the pin nail attached (nailed ) to top at the other end. Join 2 or 3 heavy duty rubber bands together and thread a clothespin spring to one end of it. Loop end of the rubber band to the pin nail and pull the spring end to fit in the clothespin mouth . You’re now loaded and ready to hunt small game.
