The Morning Rant: Immigration? No Thanks

At what population density do immigrants retain their original culture, and have the ability to reject the culture of their "adopted" country?

If a small number of immigrants show up in a typical American city, they will be swamped by the tremendous cultural pressure of America. Some of their neighbors might be immigrants, but not from their home country. Their employers might be Americans, their children's teachers will probably be Americans, the advertisements they see, the music they hear, the food they see in most markets, all will be of their new country, or of immigrants from different countries and possibly radically different cultures.

But at some speed and density, the new immigrants will be able to recreate some of the conditions from their origin. If there are 50 people from country X, no ethnic food store will emerge to satisfy their demand for fried crickets or sheep's eyeballs or goat brains or.... But if 10,000 of them descend onto a neighborhood, then the demand can and will be satisfied. And not just food. Clothing, education, music, advertisements, religion, and on and on. Density and speed of the immigration will overwhelm even the power of American culture to assimilate.

And that is what happens when we prioritize a particular people for immigration to America. Somalia on the Mississippi exists because the desire to create a monolithic sub-culture that is insulated from the now defunct "Melting Pot," and can be manipulated for political ends, was far more important than the idyllic vision of vibrant immigrants enriching America while embracing our culture and political philosophy. Dearborn and Paterson exist because we have allowed our political class to create the conditions necessary for a permanent alien presence in America that conveniently votes for them!

That we have allowed these cultures to bring with them savagery, and even worse, an unadulterated contempt for everything that America and American Exceptionalism stands for is trivial to our political elites in comparison to winning the next election.

One of the most important structural changes that made these huge concentrations possible was the creation of the welfare state by the Democrats in the 1960s, ably and vilely led by the execrable Lyndon Baines Johnson. No longer did economics drive the desire to leave the inner city ghettos where most immigrants began their lives in America. Uncle Sugar made sure that they could remain with their fellow immigrants...forever! Section 8 housing, government housing, generous welfare payments, and other massive redistributionist policies allowed oceans of American tax dollars to flow into these areas, so that the voting blocs grew, but their morphing into Americans never happened.

14 It's easy to ignore the fact that in earlier immigration waves (Irish, German, Italian, Jewish) the first generation often NEVER assimilated. Their kids did, but they continued with the old ways and the old language. Not all of them, by any means, but many.

The modern welfare state didn't exist, though, so choosing to remain culturally unchanged came with very big drawbacks.

62 Growing up, I lived in a neighborhood full of Eastern Euro immigrants. Poland, Russia, Yugoslavia, Czech, you name it we had it. I’d say 50% of my school was immigrant or at least kids of immigrants.

But no one group dominated. So everyone assimilated into the larger group which was American. All the kids learned English. They all played little league. Things like that.

If you went over to someone’s house who was an immigrant family they’d make some meal from the old country which I always liked trying. And the parents would almost always speak to each other in their native language but usually make an attempt to speak with me in English.

Generally speaking though everyone blended into the American social fabric. That no longer exists for the new wave of 3rd world immigrants. They don’t assimilate whatsoever.

Likely will happen here too. Not 'only' to Porsches either.

Maybe not nationwide, but when "bad guys" want to operate without interference from authorities, this would be ideal. Because a lot of vehicles today have some sort of cellular or satellite comm device integrated into them.

You have to be a citizen to vote.

To become a citizen you have to pass an English test.

Therefore if you don’t speak English, you are not a citizen and hence not eligible to vote.

VTS is not standard in the cars, at least not in USA. I'm not even aware of anyone in the USA who has it. VTS is a glorified "lojack" system that also immobilizes the car in the event of a theft. I suspect the story about the cars being hacked is an op, or at least way overblown. As I understand the system, it can be overridden with a "hard" pass key. If you have that key -- and all owners should -- you can override the lockdown. In theory at least.

When being recruited by the Navy, the recruiter made me retake it. I did MUCH better the 2nd time, was Nuke Qualified.

I think it was scoring a 95 or higher, but don't quote me on that.

My dad was nuke qualified, was incredibly interested in nuke technology, but the Navy found out he could work on radios, so he spent 4 years at the bottom of a ship working in the radio room.

I had an issue like this. My car went into limp mode for no apparent reason. I called the dealer they said I need to bring it, first appointment tent was like a week out.

So I said ok fuck this I googled it other people had the same issue and there was a way to undo it. It was a simple system reset you could do yourself.

Not mentioned in the article, IIRC, was that the fiance this dude went to jail for defending turned on him on and caved to the BLM types to testify there was no threat after the dude assaulted three people and advanced on a drawn weapon.

317 My dad came over with his parents from England post-WWII, having lost their son to the war effort and their daughter to a Yank who brought her home to Buffalo. They worked their butts off to be self-supporting and be a benefit to their adopting country.

Likewise, my mom's grandfather grabbed his sons and daughter and headed to the States from Poland to escape (yet another) approaching war with Russia. It took years to find a suitable place to settle in and ply his talents in a way that made him a living while not being a burden to their new country. They retained a pride in their native land, but their gratitude for America was inescapable.

Neither set of parents would believe the places their kin would go or what they'd achieve. Handouts were anathema to their worldviews.
