Not as much work ahead as yesterday, but enough to keep me occupied for a good couple of hours to start with. Still a lot of house cleaning left to do before tomorrow, but being an incurably lazy person, I'll end up putting it off until the last possible minute.

18 I wonder what orbit Amazon Leo is using?
Are they way out there like most satellites or closer, with lower latency as a result, like Starlink?

You’d think Amazon would have mentioned a few technical specs in their own PR article, but none to be found, unless I missed them.

"The tech backlash that kicked off in 2017 inspired platforms to make meaningful and effective investments in content moderation, cybersecurity, platform integrity, and other teams that worked to protect their user bases."

ok; maybe

"Imperfect as these efforts were, they bolstered my sense that tech platforms were susceptible to pressure from the public, from lawmakers and from journalists."

Here the Activist Journalist moves from being tediously scolding (imperfect as these efforts were) to openly narcissistic (they bolstered my sense) to moronically dumb (tech platforms were susceptible to pressure from the public, from lawmakers and from journalists).

20 Whatever Intel does with their next gen chips they need to make it work and make some sales.

If they keep up with this long string of losses they’ve had the past few years there will be some serious talk of breaking it up or a fed buyout.

I don’t think Lisa Su would go for it, but AMD could get back in the fab business by buying a few of Intel’s.

If Intel can make 18A close to TSMC’s cutting edge nodes they might be able to pull out of this slump.

37 I like this WEST streaming channel that Dish has, I usually keep it on as background noise when I'm working in the mornings.

Only problem is that WEST, being brand new and a streaming channel doesn't have a big advertiser pool to work with yet so they're stuck with more than half of their commercials being Ad Council PSAs.

I've seen the "Head in the Cloud" anti-vape warning ad for parents. They usually play that 2 or 3 times in a row, followed by the other ad where dad is trying to talk to his teenage daughter about vaping and the only way he can get her attention is to do a TikTok dance fad while she tells him "You're doing it wrong" before she shows him how to dance the dance in front of an oval light and a camera.

Not to mention the "Asian Hate" PSA where the kinda cute Korean gal who owns a cab company, somewhere in CA I'm guessing, decided to give Asians free rides in her cabs so they don't have to walk and get harassed on the street.

Followed up by the PSA where they have asinger singing about "Walk a mile in my shoes" in old Gospel style.

I've seen every one of those 200 times in the last month at least. I can recite the actors lines before they do.

Someone on Althouse (yes, I know) suggested the bastard be brought back to active duty, assigned to Gitmo and tasked with cleaning latrines with a toothbrush. Then, every other day, bust him in rank for not doing it properly until you get him down to private, and then make him retire on a private's salary.

But, as many wiser than I have predicted, all that will happen is that he'll get a slap on the wrist, a "naughty, naughty!" wink and told to be more careful next time. Because, if you think the same FBI that persecuted Catholics and stood with their thumbs up their asses while Trump survived Butler is actually going to do anything, then I would like to sell you some Arizona Beachfront property.

Kelly is untouchable and he knows it. Can we please stop with the FAFO play-acting?

52 Belated BOING!

Spent over an hour figuring out why the dining room halogen lamp wasn't working. Wasn't the bulb. Wasn't the fixture. Opened the wall dimmer panel and found a disconnected wire. Reconnected to the dimmer and nada.

So... the dimmer it was! Install a new dimmer switch and - presto - works! Just in time for the social event we're having here tomorrow evening.

Mrs. BD is impressed. You have to keep in mind that my late FIL couldn't change a lightbulb.

55 I wouldn't doubt Campbell's is researching printed meat products, but I doubt they're using it in their food yet. Especially since lab-grown meat is illegal in at least one large state that I know of, Florida, and they aren't going to risk losing that market by putting fake protein in their products.

64 How can you print meat?

The most common approach involves using bio-ink composed of cultured animal cells, which are grown from stem cells isolated from a tissue sample and then multiplied to form a cellular mass. This bio-ink is loaded into a 3D printer, which deposits the material through a nozzle following instructions from computer-aided design (CAD) software to replicate the desired meat structure, such as a steak. After printing, the structure is typically placed in an incubator to allow the cells to differentiate into muscle and fat cells, forming tissue similar to real meat.

Posted by: FenelonSpoke at November 26, 2025 05:39 AM (ix8EF)

Food printing hasn't hit mainstream yet, but it's coming, along with printing pharmaceuticals and eventually biological material.

It works the same way a 3D printer works.
You start with different protein & fat packs, and the printer will print out the meat like a 3D printer does, layer by layer on top of each other.

They've already printed out chicken, steaks and hamburgers.
But the flavor hasn't been perfected yet and doesn't taste real.

Once they get over that hurdle we'll start seeing 3D printed meats if the governments of the world allow it.

85 How can you print meat? Maybe I don't want to know.

This should take you back: when most cuts of meat were still sold as a hunk, they were all stamped "Grade A" or "prime," in blue ink. It was grape juice. Haven't seen it in this millennium.

I'd think the tricky part of meat printing would be resettable type.

106 Odd dream last night . . . I was aboard a research vessel heading down past Australia and New Zealand. I'm not sure what the destination was -- Antarctica? The boat was not huge but not the S.S. Minnow either. At first I was a passenger below decks. Then I was up in the cabin, detailed to record the trip with a video camera.

The most vivid parts were as we churned through rough, literally black seas (though it was daylight and not even raining, just overcast), steering around red-black outcrops of stone that jutted out of the ocean. Then we made port somewhere in southern New Zealand (I was told): a dreary and rainy town where half the people we saw were old, feeble, and gray. "The blocks get longer after here," the captain said.

We discovered while there that one of our passengers had planted huge bombs in the cargo hold designed to blow us up. As the captain was ordering them removed and defused, I woke up.

They've turned the term "sexual assault" into a complete joke due to overuse.

Yes, lady, the half-naked guy sleeping on his own couch, probably drunk out of his mind, was a real asshole for leaving the door open, but it doesn't qualify as sexual assault in any sense of the term.

"Assault on your eyes": most definitely.
"Rape": not in a million years, sweetheart.

So, I've done over 5,000 Doordash deliveries and I have never once, thought, "Oh, maybe I should open their door and look inside instead of just leaving the order on the porch, like they requested."

The only time I've ever entered someone's home is when they asked me to, face to face and even then, they were older people and I was delivering bags of groceries.

157 also:

Attorney here, charging the trespass is a waste of time considering there's two dead to rights felony charges already on the table. She's a Doordasher, all it takes is her attorney going "she didn't read the leave it at the door part it was a mistake" and its suddenly an issue that would have be decided at trial. She's so incredibly, overwhelmingly, screwed on the unlawful surveillance charges any defense attorney will tell her to take a deal for a lesser sentence and be done with it.

Even with her being window licking levels of stupid her screaming assault will turn a case into a media circus, and getting a quick guilty plea to end it is definitely the way to go.
