Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Thursday Overnight Open Thread - November 20, 2025 [Doof]![]() Sleepy Joe's Birthday El Rushbo used to call him "Plugs" Biden. I can think of a whole bunch of things to call him, but I won't. Anyway, today is his 83rd birthday. I have no wishes for him, good or bad. How about we just enjoy some of his "greatest" moments? And who can forget this brilliance? Which inspired this greatness The Presidential dream was one Biden kept alive for years, and as early as 1984 he was tipped to be a Democratic candidate. Following his announcement for candidacy in 1987, Biden was outlined as one of the stronger hopefuls. However this hope wasn’t reflected in the primaries and his performance in the first in Houston, Texas in July received a mixed bag of responses. Richard Gephardt and Michael Dukakis were Biden’s main rivals for the Democratic ticket in the election, and by August 1987 both were ahead of his. The following month, on September 12, stories were ran in the New York Times and other large publications about a controversy that would bring Joe Biden’s campaign to a grinding halt. The reports were damning and suggested that Biden had used extracts of a speech made by the Labour Party leader at the Welsh Labour Party Conference in 1985 in his own.81 million votes in 2020. Don't ever forget it, and don't you DARE question it! Mr. Roper (master of breaking the 4th wall) Grandpa Simpson Walter! I will go back in three weeks for another round of chemo and then they will do a CT scan to see if I can have surgery to clean out the rest of the tumors. American Revolution Ep 5. This was one that I saw coming. Early war results, including the Brits abandoning Philadelphia. Washington has no ability to get them out of New York. The French navy comes and abandons the seaboard. Brits turn their interests to the south and take Savannah and Augusta. The French navy comes back but doesn't stop for long. THEN, we get to the relatively vast coverage of the slaves and indians. The slaves are caught no matter which way they turn and many southern slaves turn to the Brits. The indians are massively assaulted and many of their towns burned along with crops and trees. Money is tight on both sides. Washington continues to prevail with the troops, but not with the congress. Stay tuned.

Concur. They cherrypicked communications to Burns' own end. Was his attack brutal? Yes. Did it reduce the patriots need to defend against indian attacks? Yes. 2News submitted public-records requests for the surveillance footage of Robinson walking into the sheriff’s office and any holding-area video.
“We do not have any records responsive to this portion of the request, as Tyler Robinson did not go to or enter the jail area,” a records officer with the Sheriff’s Office told the station. The station reported, “Holding room video was denied as part of the investigation.” When pressed with a broader request for any surveillance video of Robinson entering the building, officials suddenly changed their story, claiming the footage no longer exists because it was automatically deleted after the department’s 30-day retention period. 1. He will be Epsteined or 2. He will be Escaped (gone forever) or 3. He will be disappeared (like 2 but never existed) I am going with 3. Long story shortened is that we took the land from them and never made a treaty we kept.
—— “We” did no such thing, that stuff was all a long, long time ago. Everyone involved is long dead. Not to put too fine a point on it, but the Indians weren’t all that much into treaties either. One problem, they didn’t have a hierarchical system of formal government. They had Chiefs, but he wasn’t necessarily in charge, per se. The warriors held sway. When say, a peace treaty was brokered between two warring tribes they often didn’t last long, and the fact that it had failed didn’t seem to faze the signers. “We can’t control those young bucks” was their explanation, and they were probably correct. But - they still felt they were due the “presents” and payments and the rest of it under the terms of the treaty just the same. They didn’t acknowledge any contradiction there. In more mundane matters, I can report that the natural peanut butter purchases were, in my view, a success - and simply pouring off the excess peanut oil at the top, (save it for frying) and then stirring makes a peanut butter that no longer resembles pancake batter in consistency.
They don’t add any sweeteners, in any of the brands I’ve tried at least. Many of the big brands add mollasses, so it’s not immediately sweet like you might be used to. And some of the natural peanut butter brands skimp a bit too much on the salt. The Kroger branded was good, the Simple Truth not so much. The Adams could use more salt. All of them are a lot more expensive than the hydrogenated oil types. I’m not sure why that is, exactly. I assume they strip off the peanut oil and sell it for more money. Something like that? It's spooky what cities can do sometimes.
There's entire streets and neighborhoods in downtown Long Beach that are now gone. OTOH, they actually have some ancient streets downtown that today are barely wide enough for an alley. It's obvious they were built for 1910-size cars. And in nearby Signal Hill, there are spots near old oil derricks where there's a street sign, but no surviving street to be found. Today in Liverpool UK for instance, you can actually tour Paul McCartney's and John Lennon's childhood homes. (I wouldn't want to, but think it's interesting.)
------- I don't think either house has regular tours since both are occupied by private owners, at least when I was in Liverpool a few years ago. Lennon's house does have a blue plaque on it. Not sure about McCartney's. Posted by: Cicero (@cicero43) at November 20, 2025 11:19 PM (0RiMX) 178
"1965: Mike D (Diamond), American rapper, musician, and music producer. He is a founding member of the hip hop group Beastie Boys"
Sabotage was a great, great video. Brings back memories. Back in the 80s, I was a real nightclub goer. We even had a public access cable show where we'd go to clubs, get free drinks, and hang out in VIP areas just to have fun. It was amazing what a camera could do for you back then. Anyway, I remember hanging out at the Palladium nightclub on E. 14th St. in NYC (that site is now a dorm at NYU called...Palladium). We were in the Mike Todd Room, which was the VIP club at the place. Beastie Boys did a short set there, where they dressed up as Hasids and rapped a parody of My Adidas called My Big Deli. Hilarious. A great group of guys, and an unforgettable night. Posted by: Darrell Harris at November 20, 2025 11:19 PM (0CU3H) 179
Cicero, not sure. It's possible they're publicized but not open to the public; or, not always open.

When we moved to Wyoming ten years ago we rented a house for a few years. It was an awesome old house that a lot of cool old fashioned features. It had an ironing board that was built into a wall, that kind of stuff. We loved the house. The next tenants decided to hook up a ratty ass camper to the electric in the old house and burned down the house. House was condemned and demolished. I'd imagine it's easier for McCartney's home to 'go public' to tours, as it's UK government property: a "council flat."
Lennon OTOH grew up in a private residence. Was considered 'posh' although it looks to me like he and Aunt Mimi were barely upper-middle class. "The Kroger branded was good, the Simple Truth not so much. The Adams could use more salt. All of them are a lot more expensive than the hydrogenated oil types. I’m not sure why that is, exactly. I assume they strip off the peanut oil and sell it for more money. Something like that?"
"Natural" peanut butter is the only way to go, both for eating and, especially, for cooking (eg, hot peanut sauce for Indonesian dishes). "Regular" peanut butter is simply peanut-flavored margarine. If the list of ingredients has anything other than peanuts and salt, it's not worth eating. The Fresh Thyme chain has a store-brand natural peanut butter that is really good. Loblaws (the Canadian chain) has a natural peanut butter in their President's Choice house brand that also is excellent. Posted by: Nemo at November 20, 2025 11:25 PM (4RPgu) 187

Only one house (of the 2 houses and 2 apartments) that I lived in before age 18 is still standing . The other 3 have been "urban renewal"ed out of existence. With one, they actually rerouted the street right through where it was.
Urban renewal is where they buy properties in lower class neighborhoods, tear down any structures on them, then sell the bare land for a fraction of what their cost was to the politically connected, usually with some sweetheart (taxpayer-funded) financing to go along with it. IOW, the usual graft. Posted by: buddhaha at November 20, 2025 11:27 PM (9qbsz) Posted by: Hadrian the Seventh at November 20, 2025 11:28 PM (L+01d) 190
