Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at November 14, 2025 07:45 PM (npFr7) --- Unlikely. The Reds had a habit of executing 'fascists' and as the war progressed, it was becoming obvious who was going to win. This was one of the areas where Franco showed his shrewdness - yes, "take no prisoners" increases the terror value, but giving people an easy way out also means they're more willing to quit. Posted by: Hadrian the Seventh at November 14, 2025 07:53 PM (tgvbd) --- I think that by the time you get to the current day, the parallels are pretty clear. Just as the signature aspect of Long Live Death is explaining that Franco was actually a gifted and shrewd commander, Walls of Men's big thing is the "Three Generations Problem," which is that China lacks a military caste, but in times of war, military men emerge. As soon as the war is over, however, their sons want to be rich and decadent. Thus, the first generation is the conqueror. The second generation is the son who remembers fighting and still kind of likes it. But the third generation has grown up in luxury and comfort, and cares nothing for it. The ME 109 got serious product improvement in Spain, and the Condor Legion used regular rotations of pilots and ground crews to "veteranize" the Luftwaffe. You want to know why they kicked ass so hard in WW II for a service that was only six year old? Spain. Most of Spain's aircraft came from Italy. I read somewhere that Franco should have erected a monument to the Ju52. It was that airplane that got troops from Morocco into the fight and gave the Loyalists momentum.

Basically everything that could fly was used, and that goes to Franco's boldness and innovation. Once it became clear that the Navy was immobilized (at the behest of the Republican government, the sailors murdered their officers), Franco actually sealifted troops across the straits. Posted by: runner at November 14, 2025 08:14 PM (g47mK) --- China's greatest threat is always an internal one. That is still true today. Tucker Carlson's latest exposé is sending shockwaves through MAGA circles after the former Fox News host suggested that Trump's failed assassin, Thomas Crooks, may be connected to a foreign terror group.

Yeah, count me in with this pov:
- Tucker can talk to whomever he wants - you can be pissed off as hell if you do not like what he or his guests are saying. - Just talking to people or letting them speak is a far different thing than espousing their views. - Tucker can be an asshole and still not be wrong for talking to people.
