For the First Time, the US State Department Designates Antifa a Foreign Terrorist Organization

Before the headline, I want to mention a story I failed to cover when it was still fresh: The Antifa attacks on a TPUSA event at Berkeley.

You can tell a Democrat doesn't control the White House because federal law enforcement is actually investigating the terrorist attack on a peaceful congregation of people.

The Department of Justice and FBI are investigating Monday's bloody riots at a Turning Point USA event at UC Berkeley, which authorities said Antifa protesters turned into a war zone.

"Antifa is an existential threat to our nation," Attorney General Pam Bondi wrote on X Monday afternoon.

"The violent riots at UC Berkeley last night are under full investigation by the FBI-led Joint Terrorism Task Force. We will continue to spare no expense unmasking all who commit and orchestrate acts of political violence."

The sold-out event at the ultra-liberal Bay Area campus, held two months to the day since TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk was assassinated, drew scores of keffiyeh-clad demonstrators who lobbed smoke bombs, bottles, and set off fireworks attempting to disrupt the tour stop.
A bloodied man in a "Freedom" shirt is detained by police following a scuffle at a

"Antifa is breaking through police barricades and threatening our event attendees," TPUSA chief of staff Mikey McCoy wrote on X as the chaos unfolded.

...

"Mob assault and thuggish intimidation of attendees exercising their First Amendment rights are unacceptable," the DOJ's assistant attorney general for civil rights, Harmeet Dhillon, wrote in an X post.

One of the terrorists attacking peaceful citizens was a Cultural Enrichment Officer named, of course, Jihad.

A demonstrator named "Jihad" who was at Monday's chaotic protest against Turning Point USA at the University of California-Berkeley was charged with assault and robbery for an incident at the scene, according to cops.

Jihad Dphrepaulezz, 25, allegedly snatched a chain necklace from an attendee, sparking a vicious fight that left him and the victim covered in blood -- as "antifa thugs" clashed with Charlie Kirk supporters exactly two months after the TPUSA founder's assassination.

The unidentified victim was initially arrested, too, but later released.

Of course Berkeley cops arrested the victim of Jihad. You have to be very pro-active about stopping any possible future hypothetical "backlash" against Muslims, even as Muslims are attacking people right now, for real.

Harmeet Dhillon sent a letter to Berkeley demanding it preserve all records about the attacks and their response to it, meaning she intends to investigate them and does not want them destroying documents.

More: Harmeet Dhillon may be investigating whether Berkeley is continuing the abusive policies towards conservative speakers that she herself sued over as a private attorney.

In a Tuesday morning post on social media, Harmeet Dhillon, a San Francisco attorney who is now the U.S. assistant attorney general for the Civil Rights Division, said that she sees "several issues of serious concern regarding campus and local security and Antifa's ability to operate with impunity in CA."

She said the scene on Monday night at the Cal campus, which featured conservative activists, comedian Rob Schneider and author Frank Turek, was reminiscent of Berkeley in 2017.

The Justice Department on Tuesday sent a letter to UC Berkeley saying it plans to investigate the universitys response after violence broke out ahead of a Turning Point USA event on campus one day earlier. Four people were arrested.

It appeared as though Dhillon was referencing a lawsuit and settlement her firm reached when her clients, the Berkeley College Republicans, alleged that UC Berkeley placed prohibitive restrictions on when and where events featuring conservative speakers Ann Coulter and David Horowitz could be held.

At the time, Cal maintained that the restrictions were set in place due to real security concerns following violent protests that forced the cancellation of Milo Yiannopoulos' speech earlier that year. Cal insisted the rules did not prevent the groups from holding their events.

The case was settled in 2018, with an agreement that UC Berkeley would stop charging security fees to students for speaking groups.

I wonder if they bother providing security to conservatives when their terrorist Antifa allies announce an intent to violently disrupt their events.

Berkeley released this statement:

Breaking: UC Berkeley has released a statement about the violent Antifa mobbing of the TPUSA event on Nov. 10. It says it will conduct an investigation and cooperate with any federal investigations looking into the "outside agitators" who came in prepared for violence:

"UC Berkeley condemns all violence and will hold accountable anyone who violates the law or campus regulations. The University is firmly committed to an open and robust marketplace of ideas and to maintaining a campus where people of all beliefs and perspectives can feel safe and respected.

There is no place at UC Berkeley for attempts to use violence or intimidation to prevent lawful expression or chill free speech. The University is conducting a full investigation and intends to fully cooperate with and assist any federal investigations and the FBI-led Joint Terrorism Task Force to identify the outside agitators responsible for attempting to disrupt last night's TPUSA event. UC Berkeley will take all appropriate steps to safeguard the right of every member of our community to speak and assemble freely.

That's what they claim -- but do they really arrest Antifa when it attacks people? Or do they take the position that all left-wing mayors do, that when left-wing "protesters" begin to riot and throw molotov cocktails, you must step back to give them "space to destroy"?

Hopefully Dhillon will find out.

With that background: Antifa -- the organization that doesn't exist -- will soon officially be a foreign terrorist organization.

The State Department will designate four Antifa-linked groups operating in Europe as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs) and Specifically Designated Global Terrorists (SDGTs) -- putting them among the likes of ISIS, al-Qaeda and Hezbollah -- Fox News Digital has learned.

The decision marks the first time the U.S. government has applied foreign terrorist designations to Antifa-linked groups, expanding President Donald Trump's previous domestic terrorism directive to an international scale.

The four Antifa-aligned cells active in Europe -- in Germany, Italy and Greece -- are accused of organizing or carrying out bombings, shootings and other politically motivated attacks.

The designation requires U.S. financial institutions to freeze assets of FTOs and SDGTs and ban entry of the group's members into the U.S. It allows the U.S. to criminally prosecute those under U.S. jurisdiction who offer material support to FTOs or conspire to offer such support.

This is well and good, but I don't see an indication that the American Antifa is being called a terrorist organization, just the four Antifa cells in Europe.

This guy suggests that's what's going on but I'm not sure I believe it.

...

"The anarchists, Marxists, and violent extremists of Antifa have waged a terror campaign in the United States and across the Western world for decades, carrying out bombings, beatings, shootings, and riots in service of their extreme agenda," said principal deputy spokesperson Tommy Piggot.

"The State Department is committed to identifying and dismantling these terror networks that conspire to ruthlessly suppress the will of the people and violently undermine the very foundations of the United States and Western Civilization."

Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., who had written to Rubio advocating for the designation, praised the move.

"I'm grateful to Secretary Rubio and the Trump administration for working with me on this critical issue -- holding these radical groups who enable, fund and support political violence in the United States and across the world accountable."

While the American Antifa cells are patterned after the original terrorist Antifa groups of Europe, I don't believe they share much (if any) funding or leadership, so designating European Antifa groups as terrorist doesn't mean that American cells are now officially terrorist groups. Just like if the State Department declared that specific mafia groups in Italy were terrorist organizations, that would not mean that the American mafia/LCN groups are terrorist.

I'm not sure this means as much as it's being sold to mean.

I'm more optimistic. For one, I think there is quite a bit of co-funding and co-mingling, especially up the chain where shady Soros-ish billionaires fund everything. I have no doubt that the scumbags funding American Antifag are also funding Euro Antifag, and vice versa. Antifag -- like communism generally -- is an international movement.

For two, I think designating these Euro Antifags as foreign terrorists opens the door to eventually naming American Antifag groups as foreign terrorists -- especially if I'm correct that the money trail implicates them all.

Multicell is the way it is organized with funding washed through lots and lots of intermediaries. This is how AlKaida and IS-IS and MuzzyBro's are organized by the way. Someone has a list of numbers for various cities, and when you need something you give the number a call and make a request.

You invent organisations, then you label as terrorists so you can attribute "membership"  to anyone you want shut down or prosecuted.

But Proud Boys and other paramilitary groups who stormed the capitol chanting to hang the vice president gets pardon.

63 See my comment above. I also don't think the Antifag groups are legally aligned in any formal way -- they aren't subsidiaries of a larger group, for example -- but they almost certainly share common funding. This is potential critical because if I'm right, then we can shut down the funders of American Antifag by going after them for also funding Euro Antifag.

74 Ace, the thing is, though, a lot of the money going to the various antifa groups originated through USAID and washed through the NGO circuit. Which means a large amount of that money can be tracked, or at least the movement of large amounts of money can be tracked.
Private money in large amounts is surveilled, as is purchases of money. The use of, for example, SNAP or WIC benefits washed through the black market as food is only enough for local action, not larger scale rent-a-mobs or weapons.
If there is perceived need to peel those networks open, then it can be done.

Right. And didn't Trump already designate Antifa as a domestic terror group? Wasn't that the big press conference months ago with other conservative journo's at a roundtable, when I thought Mike Cernovich(?) specifically asked Trump to look at ALSO designating them a FOREIGN terroist organization, and Trump indicated he'd do that...? And this is now the follow-up to that? I just thought ace was off and they already were designated domestic terrorists, this was the following (more challenging but more punitative) step...?

Yeah other than George and Alex Soros having their grasping fingers in both - but then I guess that doesn't pass your test for "much". Both domestic and foreign Antifa share identical goals: CHAOS. Same as ANY Communist terrorist group. Perhaps if domestic Antifa changed their name to "The Peoples Front for Death and Destruction" TPFFDD you couldn't see any link at all. Would you feel better then? Maybe you could tell which way the wind was blowing if they called themselves "The Weathermen". Like Jihadis calling them selves "ISIS" and "Alqaeda" and "Hamas" and "Hezbola", etc. you don't see the link there either.

There have been survivors, President Petro was bitching about "his fishermen" having their boat blowed up and being repatriated.
One of the early videos was the USCG using 50's on it, and there was no crew on that one. (And the USCG needed better targeting too, they were spraying - not that I could do any better I suppose) The Mexican navy has been noted as doing the SAR on the boats and taking in the crew.

101 O'Reilly's an idiot. Like 95% of anyone getting air-time. Mafia in the US long predates WWII (and WWI) - doesn't anyone watch The Godfather any more?

Lucky Luciano, then in prison at the time, made a deal with the FBI - no "labor actions" at east coast ports until Germany was defeated, feds would lay off many mob operations. Luciano even volunteered to parachute into Sicily for Operation Husky, but was politely declined. However he instructed his "contacts" back home to support the Allied invasion, which they did, in some cases helping substantially (American troops would approach a town, local mafia connection would brief them on where all the German troops and strongpoints were).

All started when US counter-intelligence couldn't get any traction trying to uncover Axis spies/saboteurs at the ports (suspected to be an issue after a suspicious fire destroyed an ocean liner being reconfigured as a troop ship for the UK - all of this pre-Pearl Harbor). Fortunately, they turned to the mob, who unsurprisingly were well positioned to do the job.

Of course, Japan, and New Zealand. First place famously orderly, sane, and well-organized (with good drivers). Second mellow, civilized, and uninhabited (well the South Island's pretty empty, so driving was beautiful and relaxing between the few major towns).

Having driven in Thailand, Japan, and the Philippines - the worst of the bunch is indeed Thailand with the P.I. right behind. Driving in Japan is a snap where lights and traffic lanes/laws are abided by (minus the 3-sec light rule) - Thailand/P.I. - not so much.

I am not saying they weren't doing anything, what I meant to say was the Domestic Terror announcement was to lead the way to the International Terror announcement. If he had just called them traitors in a coup he would have had the MFM fighting him and the UN trying to broker a peace deal.

I think he took that trick very nicely.

160 FWIW, most of the reporting on the domestic order ignores the presidential memorandum accompanying the domestic order. That does have teeth and it directs the JTTFs to take lead.
https://tinyurl.com/52ffsumr

Relevant criminal statutes involved are:

"Investigations should prioritize crimes such as the following: assaulting Federal officers or employees or otherwise engaging in conduct proscribed by 18 U.S.C. 111; conspiracy against rights under 18 U.S.C. 241; conspiracy to commit offense under 18 U.S.C. 371; solicitation to commit a crime of violence under 18 U.S.C. 373; money laundering under 18 U.S.C. 1956; funding of terrorist acts or otherwise facilitating terrorism under 18 U.S.C. 2339, 2339A, 2339B, 2339C, and 2339D; arson offenses under 18 U.S.C. 844; violations of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (18 U.S.C. 1961 et seq.); and major fraud against the United States under 18 U.S.C. 1031."

The order itself has litttle, the memorandum accompanying it has a lot more which I linked above. And that memorandum, just like Obammy's infamous Dear Colleague letter, is being published in the Federal Register giving it rulemaking and policymaking authority.

200 For what it is worth, the JTTFs are Joint Terrorism Task Forces which are also called Fusion Centers where state, local, and federal law enforcement agencies investigate terrorism and as a requirement of funding these fusion centers, state and local law enforcement have to follow the lead of the federal agencies as a cost of existence.

So JTTFs have access to Flock cameras, traffic camera systems, automated license plate readers, all sorts of travel related info like hotel bills, rental cars, airplanes, trucks, etc. finances, and so on along with comms intercepts from wireless and internet via mere subpoenas in most cases. Also have prior existing arrangements with federal and state courts to fast track warrants.

True on Android too with all but Firefox or a few oddities. The difference is Chrome essentially works well enough on Android and somewhat on Windows so that the skins actually work whether it is Brave, Chromium (open source browser of Chrome), Edge, etc.

Major reason I don't use or buy apple products. Safari is a bad and buggy browser design in the first place and has been a laggard for over a decade in design and functionality.

He's been non-stop excellent.

To be honest I like Rubio much better than JD Vance in 2028.
I look at Vance ant the podium and try to imagine him as Preezy. Meh he aint doing it for me. He has no gravitas...Rubio on the other hand has his act together and would command respect. Plus Vance's wife is not a good look.

223 Anti-pope status: Confirmed.

Pope Leo XIV appears to be embracing the cause of transgenderism.

According to left-wing Catholic blogger and activist Christopher Hale, Leo will meet with Italian transgender activist Alessia Nobile and several other campaigners for a luncheon on Sunday.
Posted by: Crusader at November 14, 2025 01:00 PM (TN0g+)

This is silly; the Pope meets with everyone and everybody under the sun. When he meets with conservatives, the less radical traditionalists take it as an endorsement, and when he meets with liberals, the libs likewise spin it as an endorsement, even though both varieties of meeting are utterly perfunctory. The US Bishops' Conference just banned trans surgeries at Catholic hospitals; Leo, with his don't-rock-the-boat approach, is the last man to undercut that.

260 Also, get this, the Europeans are wrong.

In international waters there are few, if any, laws. It's why captains at ships at sea can marry couples, and gambling is legal. It's why ships carry transponders and fly flags, so everyone knows who they are. A ship at sea, flying an American flag, is a tiny bit of America. If you attack it, the U.S. Navy can and will respond.

Narco boats fly no flag and have no radio transponder. They are people without a country and declare no allegiance. hence, we can kill them on site. There is no law protecting them. Much like there is no law protecting pirates.
