Good morning kids. I feel like a broken record with this shutdown garbage. In any case now that the House has voted the shutdown is actually over.

The net positive of the whole episode is that we can see it exploding in the faces of the Democrats. Proof positive is the bullshit Epstein non-revelation/revelation about President Trump which has been thoroughly disavowed and debunked by the alleged victim. Not that that will stop the media whores and propagandists from trumpeting this as loudly and frequently as possible so as to distract from their paymasters' gigantic own goal with their debacle of the Schumer Shakedown Shutdown Shitshow. Most execrable, only because he's within earshot (God bless my wife who has the TV on in the next room a bit too loud) is the beady-eyed inbred slithering shitstain and credibly accused intern-murderer Joe Scarborough.

The net positive of it all is that the Democrats are now aiming their rhetorical guns on themselves (I can only imagine if a tranny or a Mangione out there got their Irish up about those Democrats who voted with the GOP to end the shutdown) — both with this meshugas and in having to deal with the fact that the bust out open insanity of the takeover by the communist youth brigades of the growing Mamdani contingent is opening a lot of eyes and turning a lot of stomachs in this nation.

To understand what’s now happening inside the Democratic Party, look no further than the historical analogy found in the Russian Revolution. There were some soft socialists, the so-called Russian whites, led by a guy named Alexander Kerensky. They were trying to hold off the Reds, and started off in an unenviable position militarily, but ended up winning because eventually there wasn’t enough systemic immunity to stop them. The liberal mainstream Democratic Party wants to capture what they think is the jet fuel of the radicals. Thus, Gavin Newsom raged against the end of the shutdown. His press office put out a statement: “Pathetic. This isn’t a deal. It’s a surrender. Don’t bend the knee!” . . .California Rep. Ro Khanna says the Democratic leadership is “out of touch.”

Khanna is a psychopathic commie wog. But when he says out of touch, does he mean with the transexual molotov cocktail throwers and Anti-semitic and anti-Christian street goons shooting up synagogues and churches or with normal, decent civilized American-Americans.

Brialliantine stick insect Gavin Newsom, at least at this point, is in my view the likely standard-bearer going into 2028. White male and hetero is usually the kiss of death as a résumé enhancer in Democrat circles, so he better hire Kamala to give him some sword-swallowing lessons.

But, Newsom is a disastrous pick in that he's yet another Californian and his record is well known and disastrous. Speaking of sword-swallowing, he'll go down harder and faster than Kamala did against Trump in 2024, Democrat cheating notwithstanding. A J.D. Vance victory should he, as I imagine, be the GOP candidate will cement in place the MAGA agenda and most crucially the most important domestic political policy agenda in decades: the sealing of our borders, and the continued removal of as many of the tens of millions of illegal aliens already draining and straining our economy and society. For the Democrat Party to continue to have sway over the American political landscape if not survive into the next generation (please God make them go the way of the Dodo) , to whatever degree of anti-American and anti-Westernism it degenerates to, from wherever it stands now, it must win the midterms and then the next election. From there it will no doubt use every instrumentality of government and the courts and its street goon terror brigades to erase the successes of President Trump and then take no chances by using whatever means necessary to seize absolute power as has been its goal for most 200 years. This is it, all the marbles baby.

As you can see from a few of the links, beyond his lack of communist fervor (though a criminal tyrannical despot for sure whatever the party label) and DEI credentials, there are a number of scandals and of course a record of disaster after disaster in California that make him, as I said earlier, toxic to the Democrat base as much as it does to us normal folks in the rest of the nation.

Switching gears completely, I cannot understand why President Trump invited the jihadist Leader of Syria to the White House. Well, Yes I actually do get it and it's not a wise move. He thinks he can rack up a win vis a vis Mideast peace by somehow getting this savage on board with the alleged Gaza peace plan. As if that ever has a real shot at happening given the nature of Islam, as I and others have discussed extensively here and on the podcast as well as elsewhere.

Trump’s invitation to Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa to the White House is a windfall for the former Al-Qaeda leader and a victory for the global jihad. Al-Sharaa has now walked away with a deal that likely surprises even him. He has been escorted into the Western fold with recognition as a legitimate dignitary, no longer sanctioned, and has even signed on to the global coalition to defeat ISIS. It is critical to review the background of al-Sharaa (known, in his days as a jihad leader, as Abu Mohammed al-Jolani) to appreciate the significance of his meeting with Trump — at the White House, no less. Al-Sharaa led the jihad group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTM), which was responsible for former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s fall. The process “essentially began in July 2011, when Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi—then the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq (ISI), previously known as al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI)—sent Abu Mohammed al-Jolani to spearhead his group’s entry into Syria.” Al-Jolani would later become the head of HTS, change his name to Ahmed al-Sharaa, and put on a suit to appeal to naive Westerners. He has done extraordinarily well, given how seasoned he is not only at violent jihad, but at stealth jihad as well.

The President is being ill-advised to say the least.

Yes we need mass deportations of as many if not all illegal aliens and for sure a moratorium on all immigration for at least a generation if not longer and with it, some sort of mass assimilation program for those who are here to inculcate Americanism and dismantle multiculturalism forever. And sadly that apples not only to immigrants legal and otherwise but to native born citizens who now have to be deprogrammed due to years of brainwashing in American academia.

When I read the Antifa "violence" it all seems rather low-grade crap. Mostly yelling, screaming, shoving and an occasional punch in the face. Fireworks? A car lighting up its tires like every kid did with a muscle car in the 70s?

When I think of Violence violence, its more on the order of the No-Go zones the immigrants have made in France, or the worst parts of a Major Sportsball victory celebration.

Then why doesn't some MAGA aligned investigator do a deep dive into the financial and social history of these seditionists? Find out their money sources, discover their perversions, and their links to criminals. Trumpet the results on social media to bypass the press. So, then you swing by Catholic/private high schools and the homeschool set and hire all the new 18 year olds and train them, b/c those kids know how to work, even if they don't yet know the work...and you find all the 50 year old out of work white guy techies to manage their training and time b/c they know how the field should work (you could even retrain the willing ones, although as we saw with DOGE, the 18 year olds can outwork anyone when motivated).

Watching the world around me, I have an informal belief that if 2% of the population can innovate, your nation can be the leader of the world. It is sort of an extension of the 80/20 Pareto Principle.

Your religiously trained home-school demographic is over-represented in today's 2%. One family I know has one son who wants to get into being an HVAC technician, the other wants to get his MD. Another family I know, their daughter recently achieved a doctorate in nursing, the other flew home last week from an ended Peace Corp assignment and has no plans though is highly educated.

I hope to live long enough to see where these different paths lead, but if I were a betting man, I would put money on the HVAC tech and nurse as to who will succeed and live a prosperous and satisfying life.

The American university system is becoming increasingly dependent on foreign students. That’s because what they’re selling, a lot of people have stopped buying or don’t need. You won’t get any reform in that system until you start cutting off the foreign students and force those universities to show what value they provide.

The US wants to do things in this country that have always been the domain of Southeast Asia: High tech pharmaceutical manufacturing and silicon manufacturing come to mind. The US has no domestic skills in making high tech stuff, we always farmed it out. We can bend sheet metal and assemble things, but don't have the ability to build ships or supply our own medications at scale.

For that you need engineers. The US is filled with gold bricks with "Studies" degrees. There was a South Korean company that got in trouble with immigration laws because the only way to get a plant built in the US was to bring in the people who know how to build such plants. The US doesn't have that talent.

Big conglomerates in Japan gave up on the Uni system years ago. They know that the kids that did into the system are smart (cannot assume that in the US) and that they can learn. When the did go to work they were trained by SEASONED professionals on what they needed to do at that specific job(s).

There are lots of American kids graduating with science/engineering degrees and, having watched the rampant cheating that goes on in schools among the Asian students who do come to the US for college, I'd pretty much call them gold bricks.

Good take on that issue. I do think part of the issue is that AI leadership is now being viewed as a strategic importance in China-US competition and that Trump does not want to rely solely on what crippled US universities turn out as graduates.

During the Manhattan project and the Space Race, a substantial number of top technicians and scientists came from abroad because the talent in the US simply did not exist in the numbers needed.

But we do not need H1B's for a lot of positions like Fakebook software 'engineers', etc.

Right now, I think the administration is focusing like a laser on the economy because if it goes South, Trump's term will essentially be over if he loses Congress. And headwinds from the potential Scotus ruling on tariffs, AI investment bubble, a Fed Reserve filled with crooks and saboteurs, Congress with its crony donor issues, fighting the judicial branch and sanctuary states over deportations, and trying to roll back lawfare is a difficult tightrope to deal with.

Thank you. FiL has his final radiation treatment Friday, so he'll be taken home Saturday. There, he can continue his karma lifestyle and we can get back to some sense of normalcy around here. She'll heal for a week or so before she hops on a plane for the short trip to see our daughter for a couple days before SpongeBro and I drive down for the weekend.

It'll be the first Thanksgiving I'll be completely alone in my life.

Unless you assume Trump wants to be a dictator, you simply cannot chuck ruling class types in prison due to other hacks in black blocking what you try to do. The US Constitution was purposefully designed to make that sort of thing difficult requiring all these procedural barriers.

For one reason, that is why cops relied so much on possession of drugs (and felons in possession of firearms). No intent needs to be established, no hostile witnesses to be corralled and cajoled, etc. Same with deportations of illegals in theory--they are here, not able to prove legal residence, they can be sent home without a jury trial.

Things don't work that way for high level defendants. This is not an engineering problem but a system problem based on law and not able to be 'fixed' without protracted following of criminal procedures.

If it doesn't serve the ends of unraveling the monstrosity of evil nonsense the Democrat party stands for, then it isn't the right play.

What we need is galvanization and conversion on a civilizational scale if we're going to survive. Tossing some jerks in a cell isn't enough.

Dittos. I have made very good coin in Rescue Missions where a company belatedly discovers that their "genius" decision to offshore core business functions ends up in failure.

The only projects that I was a part of that failed were where the bulk of the work was done offshore. I can't do everyone's work and a lot of mischief goes into the system when I'm asleep.

Finally said Good Bye to my last Delloite contractor. Out of the hundreds we had, two I really liked. My team finally cleaned up and checked in the last PR from the last contractor (who we extended a contract to only because of the backlog and he was the best of the bunch)

My company was doing manufacturing in an Indian facility and decided they needed to know device to try to manufacture new products.

The US based Project Manager set up a schedule and checkins to go from the device getting through customs up to it coming online.

Everything went smoothly until it got to the point of the initial test runs where the Indian team kept reporting odd problems that made no sense. Eventually the project manager got suspicion and demanded they send him a picture of the room where the machine was supposed to be setup and...it wasn't there.

See it had been stuck in customs for weeks and rather then honestly tell the people in the US this the people in India lied because they figured they'd get in trouble even though it wasn't there fault it was stuck in customs. That, amusingly, was because some US law said you can't bribe customs officials even if it is normal in the country you are working in...

It is a nasty fact of life that tradeoffs exist and they often suck in practice. You either have government aka politics rationing care or you can have the market do it on the basis to pay. We chose to combine the inefficiencies of socialism in part in medicine (Medicaid and Medicare) combined with the oligarchic horrors of 'big' medicine in hospital/providers/insurance/pharma blob. So you get a bit of rationing from socialism plus a dollop of rationing by cost while adding a truly massive overhead of subsidies that tend to benefit the blobs rather than the patients involved.

The US Constitution was based on negative rights-aka freedom from which runs head on into today's ideas that one can have a constitutional 'right' to something that requires others to pay and provide it. Same mess with education.

This is the first year in a decade or so I won't be doing a turkey. I usually do a butter creole injection and put it in the Big Easy (infrared fryer) for 10 minutes an lb. butter coat the skin and put Tony Chachere's low salt seasoning on the skin before cooking and man......good eats.

Here in Houston Metro area, the people I know on Medicare Advantage (3 so far) seem to have nothing but roadblocks to the doctors, the hospitals, the rehab/nursing homes, and the specialty meds. Their stories convinced me to pay the monthly premium for a Med Supp plan instead. I want those choices, not giving those decisions to the insurance company mandarins.

I did the injection thing. It was my first smoked turkey and I was concerned it would turn out like Clark Griswold's so I shot that bad boy up. Maybe a tad over the top.

Problem is I get bored with turkey by the 2nd leftover. I can eat roast forever.

It is inevitable when you have mass voting. DeTocqueville and the Founders were well away that general male suffrage would result in demand for more government spending to benefit themselves. And adding women as voters in the 20th century means even more spending demands.

On the flip side, a limited franchise runs amuck itself in voting its economic and social group privileges denied to others.

Madison had it right, "If men were angels, no government would be necessary." Since they aren't, no system of government works well when the people of a nation itself are not virtuous.

270 I think we all recognize the H1B program has been widely abused and needs a major overhaul. I think trump does too which is why he's already talking about putting significant monetary charges on employers for every H1B they bring. Probably just an opening salvo.

But this is a real problem. There are lots of smart, well educated kids graduating with talents in a lot of disciplines. There is also this. Lots of this in just about every university and college in the country. Until that gets fixed we have a real problem with our homegrown talent pool.

My India Indian owned computer company in Ohio was big into off-shoring work to India. My Indian co-workers were great. Very smart. And the company was at the highest level of that procedure measuring system.

We had a big project where our computer system was going to become web-based. I was just in client support and thankfully not involved but what a crap-show.

Our very talented white web page designer would send working pages over to India and they'd come back all messed up. Things eventually fizzled. It was a mess.

I'm also completely alone now for holidays. My friends had me over for Canadian Thanksgiving. Yesterday, I had them over for our Christmas in November party which started because the kids love decorating the tree. We had a great time. For Christmas, I may volunteer at a soup kitchen.

Ocean Spray Cranberries is actually a co-op of regional cranberry farmers in southeastern MA or at least that's how it started. Southeastern MA is littered with cranberry bogs and some make for really good walking trails.

That's good to hear, Sponge. Mine, too, for the most part. For the older kids, it was missing out on certain social and 'path to adulthood' milestones, such as big parties/proms and getting a drivers license. I am guessing for some kids, they were stymied during a critical time for learning foundational concepts (~ 3rd grade?) with math, reading. If they were passed along to the next grades without really nailing these basics, it likely destroyed their ability to achieve as much going forward.

I am sorry that what Fauci and co. did to our kids is now going to be used to justify discarding/displacing them with foreigners. Criminal!

I am highly paranoid on that front, having experienced a family home burning down.

Two fire extinguishers on each floor. Two in the garage. One under the grill (that one is the expensive halon replacement so it doesn't destroy the grill). The small spray-can ones they used to sell at Costco (maybe still do) in each closet. Fire blanket in the garage.

I've only ever used the one for the grill, but that's just because I put off the grease cleaning for too long...

365 Right now, I think the administration is focusing like a laser on the economy because if it goes South, Trump's term will essentially be over if he loses Congress. And headwinds from the potential Scotus ruling on tariffs, AI investment bubble, a Fed Reserve filled with crooks and saboteurs, Congress with its crony donor issues, fighting the judicial branch and sanctuary states over deportations, and trying to roll back lawfare is a difficult tightrope to deal with.

However since industrial strength election shenanigans continue largely unabated and with Trump not on the ballot to pull in the infrequent voter pool to beat the margin of cheating a cynic could say the Dems win either way : ie due to to a lack of perceived economic improvement or due to election manipulation. Trump can be-- must be -- laser focused both on the economy AND blocking through any and all means the worst of the election abuses. Policy only -- ie economic policy will not and cannot win the day on its own.
