Not the worst product, not by a long shot, but there was no real market for it.

Microsoft used to sell accelerator cards for computers. They started with the SoftCard for the Apple II, which added a Z80 for running CP/M. Later they had an 8086 card called the Mach 10 and then an 80286 card called the Mach 20 for IBM PCs and compatibles, which took over from the 4.77MHz 8088 assuming that's what you had.

None of those are the thing. They all sold... Fine, basically.

No, the thing was the OS/2 operating system - for the Mach 20 card. It required a custom version.

Microsoft sold eleven copies. Eight of them were returned.
One of my former colleagues spoke with the person who took over from him as the support specialist for OS/2 for Mach 20. According to that person's memory [...] a total of eleven copies of "OS/2 for Mach 20" were ever sold, and eight of them were returned. That leaves three customers who purchased a copy and didn't return it. And the support specialist had personally spoken with two of them.

Chinese automakers, desperate to meet their sales targets in a bitterly competitive market, sell cars to dealerships, which register them as "sold", even though no actual customer has bought them. Dealers, stuck with officially sold cars, then offload them as "used", often at low prices. The practice has become so prevalent that the Chinese Communist Party is trying to stop it.

8 Went to the doctor today. All measurements are headed in the right direction.

Bought something to eat (since my grocery order this morning was short several items) and walked home up the hill.

Where I took my blood pressure again - 77/53 - and promptly fell over.

When I mentioned earlier that sometimes my blood pressure meds work a little too well, that's what I meant. If I start feeling faint I have to sit down immediately or my body will arrange things to suit itself.

Yeah, it's hypotension, seems to be triggered by the hypertension meds after a period of physical exertion. Just have to sit down, relax, and drink fluids. Which I'm fine with.

22 @Pixy: Also on BP meds here. I had a few dizzy spells in the beginning of that as well in the first 6 weeks after taking the medication. I'm well past that point now (1 year, 4 months on it now.)

Hang in there. Good advice you got on sitting down if you feel dizzy. That puts you a lot closer to the floor (or ground) if you do black out - less chance of injuries.

Chart when you take your med on a spreadsheet. Try to shoot for the same time-of-day within a one hour window. (Keeping track also helps re-assure you that you actually took the thing so you don't accidentally double-up, which also can cause blood pressure to crash.)

Plus you need to be sitting calm for 5 minutes with the blood pressure cuff at your heart level before you take your blood pressure. Which means you can't read the crap that idiots like me post here while you're taking your BP.

Of course, if your readings were that low, maybe you should read more crap to raise them.

30 I installed Bodhi linux on my old Thinkpad yesterday. I found a copy of version 5 burned on a CD. Wasn't anythng I needed on the computer. Went smoothly and it works. Will try and get the new version set up to use. It's Ubuntu based with a custom desktop, designed for older systems.

I thought about installing Arch. Remembered that I have used a CLI installer tor Linux and decided I didn't want to repeat it.

46 Same B/P meds problem Miss Pixy as you described. My cardiologist when pesented with 2 weeks of my pressures stated I had some too low numbers; but he did no adjustments. So, I cut my 40mg lisinopril to 20mg/day, felt better with repeated B/P checks to confirm better systolic/diastolic numbers. Cardiologist agreed and changed dosage to 20 mg / day. So with some too low B/P still evident, I adusted to 10mg/day and feel much better. Have not informed Cardio of what I did but am very stable. Pill cutters are your friend.

People still drink, I guess. But at current price$$$ for a fifth (if the stuff still comes in that size), I can imagine they're a lot more reluctant to shell out on a product they don't know. And perhaps they drink less overall to make what they have bought last longer.

54 I'm on a BP med and have been for a few years. I haven't noticed any sudden dips in pressure, not even after a workout. The vertigo I had in late 2018 happened before I went on that Rx, and was traced to an inner ear problem, not to low BP.

One deletes those "quarantine at messaging" emails we got all the time telling us how hard the security system was working for us. The other was a rule to forward the every-six-months email about "It's time to change your password" to my Proton account. This way I'll know to go take care of it.

When I was having trouble signing in to the old work email last week, I called the help desk. They took care of it. But when I mentioned setting up the rules above, the girl on the phone seemed puzzled and said, "Not sure what you mean. We can find someone to help you with that." I laughed and said, "But doing it myself is half the fun!"

I was about ten-twelve pounds heavier in late 2018 than I am now. That's hardly obesity . . . but it might have contributed to the vertigo in some way.

68 I developed a fear of looking down from heights over they years. I'll even wake up from dreams with a start if I get a dizzying view. I'm a little convinced it has to do with converging angles and the way my brain processes them.

About 25 years ago I had my first anxiety attack and my Doc put me on a mild dose of an antidepressant, Lexapro, I believe, which I eventually quit but I was amazed that my instant, automatic freak-out over looking down in certain situations completely went away when I took it.

70 Got to feed the furry thugs in a little bit. Then I'll drink some more water, change, stretch, and hit the road. Temp is about 52 F., humidity still down (for now), almost no wind.

Today I'll run my Dan Post boots to be resoled to a suburban shoe repair place I've used many times. They resoled these boots a few years ago and refurbished my 1994 Eddie Bauer leather shoulder briefcase back in May. A good excuse, too, to fill up the Buick on ethanol-free gas and just do a little "fun" driving.

73 Good morning! Gonna be a nice fall day here in Cowtown with temps in the mid 70s and lotsa sunshinyness. Plants arrived yesterday so today after school the grandkids and I are gonna put in irises and daffodils, and transplant some aloe vera. Gigi is gonna supervise and make dinner.
