Thursday Night Cafe

duntrunecastlescotland.jpg
Duntrune Castle, Scotland

Doggo lets it slip that the woman's husband always takes him to the pub.

Himalayan snow leopard.

Boom. My uncle, an Air Force master sergeant (or that sort of level of NCO), told me they called this "an unscheduled sunrise."

Cats. You can't stop 'em. You can't even contain 'em.

Alcohol was involved.

Neat. Unless it's AI. In which case it sucks.

Lambo look like the Bat-Lambo

Jealousy.

Dog resigns himself to bathtime.

Double golden retriever welcome.

Rescue dog goes to his first grooming, and is worried that his new master might leave him.

Oldie but a goodie: Buttermilk the rambunctious baby goat.

Pandas, Nature's Natural Acrobats.

Is this AI? Or could it be real? Is there really a chance I make friends with a murder of crows?

I literally think everything is AI now.

I take no pleasure in life.

18 Looking to me like the Demoralization Campaign is back on.

Even with Trump in the WH, a time we should be celebrating and looking ahead to brighter days, that's how they intend to fracture the Right and continue the long march.

And you can bet the GOP is in on it, as are apparently some well known rightard grimfluencers.

I'd say do your level best to be joyful and count blessings because nothing would piss off the Left more than us being happy, but I get it if that's not gonna work right now.

It also helps to remember that we "are pilgrims in a strange land".

If I may one last time (permit me), I think Somewhere South misreads your stance slightly, hence my attempt to put a new lens on it. Equally I posit that Somewhere South's post was not an effort to draw you out but merely expressing their own frustrations at *general* blackpilling, which does tend to sandpaper some bottoms.

Hence the clash. Not exactly a misinterpretation in both sides but not exactly not. It's resolveable.

If I'm wrong on any count I will own that, but I rarely say anything when I don't have a good idea of what I speak.

The effort to tie Trump to Epstein for eternity, which almost worked. I gave and likely reposted a long explanation at the time.

When he gave his weird denial and apparently insulted some of his own base by referring to it as a hoax and them crazy.

The Left was running a slow insidious drip to fracture the right and Epstein was the cherry on the shit sandwich. Instead of letting the Left control the direction and flow of the op, Trump blasted his own predetermined fault line into his own base, which they reckoned he was too vain to ever do. Thus sapping all energy from the divide operation. The clue was how bombastic he was - Trump knows how to defuse and how to amplify. It didn't make sense to me that he had amplified to 1000 during that speech when it seemingly would have served him better to quietly defuse.

The first house we bought when the boys were babies was near a marina, with a creek that went to the Intercoastal Waterway. There were manatees and a pier for fishing. We'd go there often after dinner.

Also a paviollion for weddings. We rode bikes there on crushed shell type roads (vs gravel) with the boys on the back of our bikes. My husband was teaching them how to get a crab off a hook and instead the crab cut his hand and there was a lot of blood (sort of a Bernstein's Bear what not to do lesson for our sons).

It is all on video, with polka accordian music in the background from the Polish or something wedding in the pavillion.

It makes me laugh to see it and our son's stunned faces at the blood. I guess I stopped filming and did first aid so he could ride his bike home. The polka music gives it a weird vibe.

This should bring on the ONT! Willowing!

I wworked a contract for 16-ish years in a Boeing facility as a non-Boeing subcontractor. To get aircraft sales in international markets, the executives have to play by crooked non U.S. rukes to lock in the sale. Those executive become inurred to that type of corruption, then rotate into other divisions (like their missile defense division where I worked) for more rounded corporate experience. Their corrupt habits come with them, and they routinely fuck over the staff, customers, subs, and eat the research seed corn like theere's nothing wrong at all to do so.

Put cheapos on a heavy truck or something with harsh suspension and you're throwing money away.

Could be, as my fine specimen self has aged as well.

Speaking of aged...the castle photo in Scotland...the ONLY thing to warm ye bones there or anywhere damp and cold is single malt Scotch next to a fire. Preferably aged over 15yrs. I learned that on a Highland's tour with our son and DIL before the grands. A ton of fun and I stayed very warm with the samples.

In the Intermountain West, where I live again after my college and early marriage, it NEVER gets as cold as the South with the humidity. Two feet of snow in our yard and I am fine. I used to fly home winters in college and hug the fireplace and take hot baths (to annoy my father who kept track of bills and stuff). Rainy cold is bone cold. He'd argue that the mountains were colder with snow and they were not!

No one won those arguments and I took as many hot baths as I felt like so he would not miss me when I was gone. He probably did miss me but not the expense I brought with me. I drove him nuts, but being a Marine he did not let me know very often. I also look like him, so that helped.

boeing was an engineering society that built planes now its another garbage firm that sees financialization as the source of profits. Which is why they have had the 737 max difficulties

I am in finance and have no problem with financialization, but not when it destroys the primary function of the company.

I was walking late one night down a dirt road in Silver Gate Montana, years ago. A great horned owl flew overhead. I did not hear, it, but felt the wind from its wings. I saw its shadow against the stars as it turned and made another overhead pass.

Very cool. And a not a little scary.

The owls are not what they seem.

378 Our first trip to Edinburgh I got a wicked sinus deal that got worse on the plane. I was deaf on arrival and looked so ghastly the hotel let us check in early. Saw a private doc the next day and the usual Z-pack. We were told NOT to go to the ED, I guess unless bleeding to death.

We went to St. Giles for a service, seeing as we were all conservative Presbyterians with a direct line to the church of Scotland. Arrived a bit late for the service that was packed because they were voting on the damn gheys or something that followed us from FL. Had to sit in a pew right under the pulpit, facing the congregation.

I sound like I have TB or a cough cannon and am not dainty with bronchitis, sadly. The tickle throat thing started and I was consumtive in the cathedral. The acoustics were totally awesome (this was pre covid or I would have cleared the place).

I was digging in my large travel bag behind our son for a cough drop, trying not to LOL, and my husband thought I was harfing in my bag. Which made me more insane with choking laughter.

I get noticed one way or the other in crowds, sadly. Our son probably wanted to pretend he did not know me.

But the sidewalls are only 2 inches tall.

Had a flat tire on the #3 Suburban this evening. Got a ride home, picked up my portable air compressor, and tried to inflate it. Would not take air, must have been a bad cut in the tire, for it to flat as quick as it did. Go the change it out...no jack, no lug wrench. Bad Peon, should have checked. The regular driver has 'em! So I drove 3 miles home on the flat. About the half way point the flat tire shed its tread completely, and it rolled better after that. I have a full set of good 16" truck tires to hang on it. Guess what I get to do tomorrow?

416 AOP, the rim still OK after the driving with the flat?

Posted by: davidt at November 06, 2025 09:57 PM (Q+gd/)

417 399 Christy, Yeah, he was one of the great ones. He spoiled me for a lot of years.

When he abandoned his ski buddies to ski with me, they said, How can you? (I was not nearly at their ski level.) He said, It's like a honeymoon every day.

I said, Oh, are you going to get laid.
Posted by: Wenda at November 06, 2025 09:50 PM (3vLQD)

Ha! I quit skiing because our sons and their Dad would get cold waiting for me at the bottom of greens/blues. I told them I was done and go for it, as it was no fun anymore for me not wanting to kill myself.

I was never going to progress, living in FL at the time. Plus I had some fear due to college friends and rare bf's expecting to take me to the top of a lift and showing me how to snowplow and adios! It did not matter that I was from MS, and I would tell them this and, oh, you can do it! No, I really did not do it well then. Once I had a lesson at Jackson Hole decades later I did fine, but I was never going to be great or fast.

I could not afford the skis nor lessons in college, and mostly did cross-country. Cannot ice skate to save my life. I am a swimmer and tennis girl. However, I love the snow and everything about it.

421 More fun. Check out his transition team:

Lina Khan - Biden holdout, anti-tech and business.
Maria Torres-Springer - de Blasio First Deputy Mayor
Grace Bonilla - President of United Way of NY
Elana Leopold - de Blasio official

Castoffs from Biden and de Blasio are running the show.

I'm waiting in terror for the NYC refugees to come to my town in CT.

From what I have read, a true Scot goes commando.

I used to watch the gorgeous Scot who guarded the Queen and hope for a strong wind to prove this. Jonny is how he spells his name.

The sidewalls of the tire are still beaded, so I think the rim, which is a stock steel one in any case, is not damaged. No, I will mount a full set, and use the rim from the spare, if I must.

429 Realism. Not misery.

The gop has never done anything in my adult life I can point to and say yeah that was great man.

They promise it of course. It’s the delivering part they seem to have trouble with.

Expecting any other outcome is setting yourself up for failure.
Posted by: Its Go Time Donald at November 06, 2025 09:50 PM (3qp0C)

I think this is less realism and more of a cope.

If anyone here believed this, they'd be totally checked out of politics. No voting. No following the news. No commenting at a conservative politics website. Because what would the point be?

It's like the person who pretends to be unaffected by an unfaithful spouse. "You can't hurt me if I don't care." It's a jaded pose.
