It's not stellar, but it's solid, and it's many more than the "expert consensus" predicted. The United States job market did better than expected in October in terms of job growth, with over 40,000 new private sector jobs. ... It is important that these jobs were in the private sector, a marked contrast to the Biden administration's job market, when all the touted "job gains" were either in the federal government or going to immigrants. In contrast, as of July, under the Trump administration, employment of American-born workers had reached a record high while jobs for foreigners declined. While legal immigrants can strengthen our economy, the decline in employment of U.S.-born men -- particularly blue collar workers -- was a serious Biden administration crisis which the Trump administration has corrected, partly by discouraging employment of illegal aliens.Remember, the government is shut down which is causing economic disruption and decline. So 42,000 private sector jobs is a win.

You know what would really discourage "employment of illegal aliens"? Even a handful of high-profile enforcement actions against businesses - to include perp walks if appropriate. You kill the chicken to scare the monkey. Kill some chickens, and make sure the monkeys know all about it. The collapse of institutions and the collapse of the civic culture that created the mass illegal migration crisis is deep-rooted, won't be materially improved in 4 years, and massive, massive removal of *non-"criminal"* illegals is required to at least give the country a buffer against its voters. It's pretty stellar, Ace. Not the greatest ever, but better IMO than just "solid." As you pointed out, this is just private sector jobs over a single month. But it was a month of federal dysfunction and shutdown, coming off a few months of sluggish job growth, and in a run-up to several important elections. Put simply, there were hurricane-level headwinds coming for this report. 42k privates under those circumstances is very good. Posted by: Elric The Blade at November 05, 2025 04:04 PM (iFTx/) 42

Calling 40k a booming jobs market is a streeeeetch.
Population growth alone for adults is 100k or so. Anything under 100k is really a net negative number. 150k is seen as a good number indicating an expanding economy. By comparison in 2017, during Trump 1.0 first year, average MONTHLY number was 182k. Posted by: Its Go Time Donald at November 05, 2025 04:07 PM (3qp0C) 57

Posted by: Its Go Time Donald at November 05, 2025 03:59 PM (3qp0C) ********************************* Also, these are ADP numbers, since the government shutdown means the official ones, normally delivered on the first Friday of each month with data for the previous month, aren't being released (neither for September nor for October yet). In any case, rather than number of jobs gained or lost, these metrics should be considered relative to population size. MSM tells me those very fine, newly elected 'moderates' in New Jersey and Virginia won because they stressed affordability for the people vs. inflation and/or tariffs.
Of course, it all began with O&Joe's ACA - which never was. Now they want "affordable" homes, vehicles, education, healthcare and more, and money to burn on vacations, etc. - otherwise known as living wages - tailored to fit. Here's how R's helped reinforce those "wants" - Facebook, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene June 17 Americans want cheap gas, groceries, bills, and housing. They want affordable insurance, safe communities, and good education for their children. They want a government that works on these issues. Considering Americans pay for the entire government and government salaries with their hard earned tax dollars, this is where our focus should be. Not going into another foreign war. And ADP has been notoriously unreliable. Without BLS reporting the country is running blind. The Fed thinks it’s appropriate to be cutting rates. They know that the job market is dismal.
42,000 is abysmally low and if it's not distributed across the economy especially in middle income brackets, it basically makes no difference. This report basically shows what the others have. No mass layoffs yet, no mass hiring yet, manufacturing and white collar recession is continuing at a grinding pace...it does appear the labor market is continuing to soften, and IMO hiring mostly being conentrated in healthcare is concerning as it's indicative of soft demand everywhere The “k-shaped economy” is what people call the state of the economy. Essentially, it means that the richest Americans are spending more and more, while poorer Americans are spending less and less. Since the top 10 percent account for half of consumer spending, consumer spending, and thus GDP, keeps going up, even as life becomes less affordable for the other 90 percent. Meanwhile what do we got 1 million plus public sector job losses? 42k isn't even enough to make up for population growth. https://tinyurl.com/43j8ykuk it breaks it down pretty fine, but the quick answer is Private employers added 42,000 jobs in October Last month delivered a rebound from two months of weak hiring, but the bounce wasn't broad-based. Education and health care, and trade, transportation, and utilities led the growth. For the third straight month, employers shed jobs in professional business services, information, and leisure and hospitality. Change in U.S. Private Employment: 42,000 Change by Industry Goods-producing: 9,000 Natural resources/mining 7,000 Trade/transportation/utilities 47,000 With the North East being the net looser region, and the losing industries being Information, Manufacturing, Business services, Hospitality and Other Posted by: Kindltot at November 05, 2025 04:14 PM (rbvCR) 82

One of the disconcerting trends out of last nights election was the economy. It wasn’t just from Democrats, it was across parties and Independents. People are worried about the economy and things don’t seem to be getting better despite Trump’s proclamations. Calling 40k a booming jobs market is a streeeeetch.
Population growth alone for adults is 100k or so. Anything under 100k is really a net negative number. 150k is seen as a good number indicating an expanding economy. The mayor cannot unilaterally raise taxes in the city. The New York City Council sets property tax rates, and the personal income tax rates are set by state law and administered and collected by the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. Any tax hikes will have to be approved by the state legislature in Albany. Mamdani gets sworn into office on New Year’s Day; Governor Kathy Hochul and members of the New York state senate and state assembly are up for reelection in November 2026. None of them will be particularly eager to raise taxes in an election year. Mamdani wants to make it free to ride city buses. Bus fares are controlled by the Metropolitan Transit Authority board. They made a big splash for a few days, but I think from now on Carlson, Candace, and Fuentes are just going to be bad punchlines to a joke that everyone is sick of.

The MTA structure is . . . complicated, but the bottom line is that the mayor has limited influence over it. Posted by: Crusader So what happens when Achmed can't produce what he ran on/promised? My school board re-elected all the leftist scum. By pretty sizable margins . That’s what happens with a 32% turnout when only teacher unions and AWFLs show up.
One of the most odious one’s campaign website basically said I’m here to represent teachers. The word parent is not anywhere on his website. But educator is there about 200 times. He won 65%. Posted by: Its Go Time Donald at November 05, 2025 05:08 PM (3qp0C) 298

Posted by: Romeo13 at November 05, 2025 05:04 PM (mP0Kj) Well if you wonder about what was going on, and we've discussed it here elsewhere. Carlson, Fuentes, and Candace ran an op to start a big controversy on the eve of an election in order to drive down turnout (Candace said so explicitly) and help Mamdami and the rest of the dems win. Because, just like Bill Kristol and the Bullwark, they are not even 10% on our side anymore. Posted by: Tom Servo at November 05, 2025 05:08 PM (uWKK8) 299

How was Carlson such a big voice on the right for so long? Where d he come from and how was he able to hold together his act and audience for so long? I remember watching him and he would say the right things but it all seemed very canned.
