According to intertubes, Kalifornia has 9 Republican representatives in the U.S. House of Representatives; that's out of a total of 52, or 17%. What's being done won't change much, but they just have to do it...while wasting $100s of millions for this election (no other ballot issues).

He's also going through an "I'm too rational for religion and to believe in God" phase right now. Not pressuring him, just giving nudges about how emotion, and thinking with your heart and the spirit is as important as thinking with your head. And science isn't infallible. But I might have him watch "The Prince of Egypt" soon. It's actually a good depiction of the New Kingdom.

Big Fairfax dump, which is voting like it's a Trump election and not a state election (closer to 80-20 vs 65-35) - not a surprise with the way Trump has handled fed gov all year (it's why all seats were a 10pt plus D fave on a generic ballot 2 months ago)...33% Fairfax in, 22% state overall, so it's early. There are available charter flights from JFK to London and Paris that cater to dogs and their owners exclusively. Each dog has his/her own seat as does the owner. All first class of course. Before the flight, the charter operator provides time and a space such that all the animals can get acquainted with each other by roughhousing and sniffing each other.
Sometimes, the dogs do that too.

I wanted to get the yard mowed because it was looking a bit frowzy. But I saw that there were expanses of tiny flowers - likely from some late-season weed - and that the migrating Monarch butterflies were attracted to them. So I held off. Top of ticket ultimately was a pocket book election. And Rs could not win that in VA or NJ. I'm not sure they could win that anywhere right now, b/c middle class pocketbooks have not yet gotten better...maybe not worse, but it was really sucky at Biden end, and there hasn't been a lot of up movement yet, at least feelable up movement. As I explain to many, just b/c the inflation rate goes down, prices don't, and years of Biden inflation compounded the pain more and more, especially with no wage growth or job growth...2025 then feels worse than 2024 which felt worse than 2023.
Trump was winning non pocketbook issues, but that doesn't ultimately win elections, where people vote self interest 1st most often.

True, but I don't think that was the case in VA - NoVa Fed Gov / Government Contractor (especially Defense) showed its power today...unheard of D/R percent breaks at the top of the ticket in a non-Trump election (note, these percents aren't that bad even in presidential years unless its Trump) even in Loudon and Prince William Counties...and defense land in SE VA also broke blue, when it tends not to do so...so, it was all the government shutdown and federal budget cuts of contractor money and fed employees all over the state...

BTW, I had to produce my ID and sign on the line to vote today. Big important races, meaning school board. Also, two questions about a gas tax (soak the tourists, of course) and allowing seniors to pay less in property tax.

Election Report from the South SF Bay area in CA:
The turnout for this pre-midterm election is very much heavier in my area than for any election I've seen since the early-90's.
The line to get in to get a ballot (3 servers IIRC, with an ID, computer look-up and Signature the only actions to get a ballot), normally 3-5, occasionally 10-15, was perhaps 40 when I arrived and expanded to perhaps 60 while I was still in line.
Also when I was in line, perhaps 10 people showed up to submit their mail-in ballots, and perhaps one more for their spouse (I believe this).
This seems surprising, as only a non-partisan Assessor position. one County measure and one State proposition are on the ballot. But, the State Proposition is Prop 50.
I have the feeling that Prop 50 is going to crash and burn ( 45 YES / 55 NO or worse ). I think that the state-wide commercial (TV & YouTube) by Gov-Got-Nuthin-Nazi-Pelozi-The Dog-Eater-In-Chief and the Little Bartender (AOC) have really turned off a lot of people.
The vanity ad by Tom Steyer really didn't help the D's either.

I have no doubt if and when Democrats get back in power they will nuke the filibuster completely instead of just for judges. Up until recently I was against getting rid of the filibuster but Democrats have become so extreme there is no point in not beating them to the punch and getting as much as we can while we can.

I meant before I dipped it, I don’t wipe them with alcohol after each use, I have special wipes made for wiping them down. These are neoprene black ones. I wish I had just bought hex weights and I wouldn’t be having this issue, but the franchise kept threatening us if we didn’t buy the Pure Barre branded ones.

I know nothing of Virginia politics, but it seems that Trump interrupting the fed gov and NGO gravy trains may have pissed a lot of people off.
If so, maybe an acceptable tradeoff, unless you live in VA. We may see the same response here in CA to Trump going to war with the state. Doesn't mean he shouldn't, but it won't be great for us in CA if we have even less sane representation.

I think a huge factor in that race was the top of the ticket. Sears might be a nice woman with good intentions but she wasn't much of a candidate and didn't run a great race.
Most people turn out for the main event and then vote down ballot but if people aren't turning out for the top spot it's a problem.

When I sold my place, I had to pay an exit tax to my HOA. I kid you not. A percentage of the sale. I was happy to pay it and get the eff out of there. New Yorkers will feel the same.

Donk blow outs in VA, NJ, and NYC. Looks like the Donk candidates won the usual Donk Plantation Vote (Blacks, women, under 30s, Hispanics, college degrees) in droves. Not sure if any conclusion can be drawn yet but it would seem that its more than plausible that the Ds could take back control of the House in a year which would monkey wrench Trump's presidency. Plus endless impeachments and star chambers.

NYPD all went to Long Island, and in the last 3 months Connecticut real estate agents made a fortune in commissions...this hurts my heart. NY was my home.

NJ has an exit tax if you buy and leave before 2 years. We closed at 2 years and 1 day.
