The biggest Rant I have is with the USPS. And I really can't get into it anymore here on the World Wide Web without serious repercussions. The creation of three branches of government was brilliant. Checks and balances with justice and domestic tranquility as the ultimate goal. I've written it here and discussed it on a Cut Jib Newsletter pod cast. The US is too big to survive. And the following is just one reason of hundreds perhaps thousands. Although I am not a gambling man. I would wager $100 that the authors would have never guessed that state governments would sue the federal government when federal dollars are involved for federal programs. States sue USDA over efforts to gather food stamp data on tens of millions of peopleThe Federal government should have every right to see who is receiving any type of aid. The Judicial Branch should have tossed the suit immediately with the fancy term for "Go pound sand". If California wants to take over funding from Uncle Sam to pay for their pipe dreams, fine. Federal funding for the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) nutrition program and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), also called food stamps, runs out on Saturday due to the government shutdown. The funding cut-off will hit illegal immigrants hard. The Center’s 2023 analysis of government survey data shows households headed by illegal immigrants make extensive use of the welfare system, particularly food assistance programs. Among our prior findings: Of households headed by illegal immigrants, CIS estimated that 59 percent use one or more welfare programs — cash, food assistance, Medicaid, or housing.It's not a matter of If. Had I known, I wouldn't have bothered, but a check on the web reveals no info on pickup time. It's printed right on the box, but apparently transmitting that info to the web is a bridge too far. As I've said here before, this is actually a good thing that we're finally now starting to get an estimate of the number of illegals in the country. Even if we just assume all of them are on food stamps, surely an undercount, we'll know that the infamous 11M is, and always has been, a steaming pile.

If you go to grocer websites, and search for junk food, they'll all have an "eligible for SNAP" icon. I keep hearing that SNAP is only good for certain kinds of foods. It ain't that way in practice. It's used for junk and soda and sold for cash to buy booze and drugs.

Another problem is snap/EBT can be had by people who work. It’s an incentive to work a few hours, but not too many hours to go over the income threshold. That’s why you’ll see people work at McDonald’s but only 15 or 20 hours. Just enough to make some money but also be eligible for all the government money.
