Cats don't care. Wile E. Coyote chases the Roadrunner. Penguin gives a gift to a caretaker. Dog jumps for joy. Slowly swaying boobies. Kitten lowers her ears to enter stealth mode. He misundestood his orders. Kids don't believe us, but we used to walk around a store called "Blockbuster" looking for the new Eric Roberts erotic thriller. Dogs wait for the adventure bus. Sexy robot costume. Real robots aren't ready for market yet. If you cut through 20 pounds of hair you might find a dog inside. Cat-o-lantern. Saving a seal.

I just watched the movie "Soylent Green", released in 1973. Heavy, heavy propaganda for climate change and the "greenhouse effect."

I didn't notice it back then, but in the movie they say in the movie that in 2022 there will be 40 million people in New York City, even the oceans will be dying, and of course most infamously we are reduced as a nation and as a planet to cannibalism to survive: all thanks to the Industrial Revolution and population growing out of control. The mind-shaping has been going on for decades.... How did that prediction work out? Posted by: Beverly at November 03, 2025 08:24 PM (Epeb0) 110
The government shutdown is the democrats' spaghetti against the wall. They're simply desperate, don't care what damage is done, and are putting all their money on eventually winning the propaganda war about who's to blame. They will only consent to reopening it if they believe they can appear as the saviors. Delusion, maybe, but it's all they've got, or the best their hateful, leftist reptilian brains can come up with.

Both conditions are insidious, and no amount of diet and/or exercise will help "cure" the condition. In fact, when the weight inevitably creeps back on, all of the weight goes to the problem areas. Today was a date of astro-gnomonical significance, the yearly maximum of the Equation of Time. High noon was 16 min and 27 s earlier relative to mean time. The true sun has been lollygagging behind the mean for a while, and now has stopped that and will start catching back up. This means high noon will start shifting slowly later for a couple of months, and the balance of the shortening in daylight will shift to the morning side relative to the clock. There's about equal now, but over the next couple weeks, you'll notice sunrise starts getting later faster than sunset gets earlier relative to the clock time. Earliest sunset is about two weeks before solstice, depending on latitude. Sunrise will continue to get later and later until early Jan. When you have this, It’s painful and you will lose / tone is other areas but your legs, ankles, and sometimes, but not always, arms, don’t seem to budge and get bigger with time. It’s an awful condition. And I would never, ever call anyone a land whale. Being mean to people does absolutely nothing. It hurts. Being called chubby hurts. I know first hand. And FTW, when I graduated high school, I weighed 100 pounds soaking wet.

Lipedema is a disease of the connective tissue - body fat is stored in lovely lumps in between the skin and the muscle, and once it gets there, the only way to get rid of it is a very specialized lymph-sparing form of liposuction, followed by excision of the excess skin and tissue so that more fat can't get back in that tissue. Compression garments have to be worn forever after. I had never heard of it; someone on the Mounjaro support groups saw my before and after pictures and saw what I now know were "Lipedema Legs". Mounjaro/Zepbound has literally saved my life. If not for finding out about it, I wouldn't have started a 4-surgery plan (with a board certified surgeon) to finally get my body back to something resembling a normal body. I also wouldn't have caught this nasty cancer in time to possibly give me a fighting chance at long-term survival. I was not able to get my 3rd surgery (which would have removed an additional 20 pounds of fat and tissue from my legs - I had 20 pounds removed in December, 2023 with my first lipedema surgery) because of recurrent UTIs, which was how we found the cancer.

I tried more diets and exercise programs than you can shake a stick at. I was on my high school drill team, and did gymnastics and dance when I was younger. I was a scrawny kid/teen.

But some switch got turned on when I left for college, and the weight came on, settled in my lower body, and stubbornly held on. Every time I lost weight, my upper body would get skinny, but my legs stubbornly held onto every morsel of fat that it could. I can only speak from personal experience, but I am not ashamed to tell you that when I started looking into Lipedema, I started crying - because I realized for the first time in my adult life that IT WAS NOT MY FAULT. And every person's story was the same. Thankfully, doctors are starting to be aware of it. I would not be surprised if GLP-1s are eventually able to be used as an effective treatment for Lipedema and Lymphedema, and covered by insurance for people with both of those conditions. It has been really nice to get rid of the "food noise" which accompanies these diseases. Posted by: Wenda at November 03, 2025 It is equally ugly to tell people who have issues with maintaining weight that they are lucky. I don’t work with anyone truly as a nutritionist, that was because I become obsessed with making food a tool for living healthy instead of obsessing over when I could eat again. For you, if you are not, please get with a dietician as they are really amazing for those with medical conditions like yours. They can develop an eating plan for you and align with exercise to help maintain bone density, which I am sure is a concern you have. Our dogs are so confused and are really mad at us for not feeding them according to their stomachs and not the clocks. We usually try not change timezones during the time changes but we totally forgot it this time. They're out if sync with sleeping and eating.

And like I said, I have pretty much leveled off - at this point, I am in "Maintenance Mode". I have lost a couple of pounds since being on cancer meds, but that has more to do with food having the texture of AND tasting like wet cardboard. The mouth sensitivity doesn't help, either. If it weren't for the extra lipedema tissue on my lower body, I would be at what I would consider a good/healthy weight. That extra tissue isn't coming off without surgery, so I am content to stay where I am. My oncologist did say that he is the only doctor who doesn't want me to lose weight. Back when I was in college (Civil Engineering), in one of my classes we did a small-scale experiment/demonstration with wastewater stuff. I seem to remember adding something to help along the process by binding to solid waste so that it could precipitate out.

I do remember being amazed (there was even an equation for it!) at how little bleach needed to be added (to what was eventually left over) to neutralize the germs in the liquid. Mind you, this was back in 1980, so I am sure that many improvements have been made since then! Any problem solver will say, "drag it into the light, describe it fully and find the flaws and the nasty bits" But this is rejected by many since it suggested that their pet theories with a bit of "umpty umpty" to get through the thin spots in the logic might need to be examined too. Oh, please. Cooper's argument boils down to "Churchill should have accepted Hitler's ephemeral, non-binding, unofficial peace overtures, and averted war."

Those overtures were never more than tentative probing for a weakness, like all Hitler's other proposals, but even if you take them at face value, the man was demanding that the world's most powerful empire should forfeit any influence in European affairs, in exchange for his own guarantee of that empire. It's laughable to think a British Prime Minister would bite on that bait. Even a fag like Chamberlain wouldn't have gone that far. Well, today was a red-letter day here at Peon Manor. The Avanti which has been getting a transmission transplant got started and driven today. No leaks, and it goes in all four forward gears. Shifts are happening way too early, so TV cable will need adjusted. Gas pedal is awkward to use, will have to revisit that. And not enough throw on the shift lever, an adjustment may fix that. Posted by: Yudhishthira's Dice at November 03, 2025 10:15 PM (BI5O2) Churchill was only one faction, others favored Germany if only because of their dislike of the USSR. Prior to that final decision for war, the UK was trying to keep in the good graces with both Germany and the USSR, much the way Germany was trying to keep in the good graces with the UK and the USSR. Germany had also been trading with the Nationalist Chinese and the Japanese until the Japanese complained. Things were very much in flux. There had been so much evidence that the UK might be amenable to an entente outside of Churchill's faction that Rudolf Hess decided to fly in to try to arrange some sort of understanding. If Churchill had been deposed, the thinking went, the war could be ended. Chamberlain was not the only one who would have tried to change the direction of the war. Personally, I doubt the UK was ever in favor of Zionism, they were only in favor of keeping control of oil fields, and saw the Mandate a key to that strategy. There was no evidence after Labor Day weekend of 1939 that the British were amenable to capitulation. Not even the French were at that point. Hess was a mentally unstable narcissist whose silly plane flight was met with perhaps even more bemusement in London than Berlin. Churchill was made Prime Minister in reaction to Chamberlain's weakness and failure. Further appeasement of the Nazis was practically the only thing would guarantee his ouster by that time. As far as counterfactuals go, Cooper's is one of the dumbest. Posted by: Yudhishthira's Dice at November 03, 2025 10:36 PM (BI5O2) 315

254 -- Aetius -- The Germans started thinking of Jews as less than human parasites back in the 1880s. It tied in with Germans becoming more nature oriented with the idea that they were special. The Germans began digging more and more into their folklore and developing weird ideas about their specialness. I read about this in "Hitler's Willing Executioners" by someone I can't remember. 350 YD -- Anti-Semitism can be traced all the way back to the 400s or so when the Emperor sent out a decree forbidding Jews from seeking converts. Up til then Judaism was actively competing with Christianity for converts. And the idea that the Jews killed Christ goes back even further, settling in to the DNA of Europe. As time passed, Jews were forbidden many occupations and they turned to lending money for profit, which Christians were forbidden to do by Church law. See Thomas Sowell for his writings on how middlemen come to be hated.
