Drove into Anchorage today to pick up my brand new (hmmm.) 1961 Ford Falcon "tudor" sedan. It is absolutely lovely, needs all sorts of work, but wow, it looks better than even I expected.
Needs new door liner panels, exhaust, muffler, brakes, steering column adjustment, alignment, tune up, fluid change, new gas gauge, new wiper switch, set belts, a little work on some of the chrome, and a thick coat of paste wax. And probably about 12 other things I haven't found yet. She's at the mechanics for a couple of weeks, at least. But WOW. Everyone who walked by did a double take and some took photos. The towing dude was over the moon. Lots of smiles today. Posted by: tcn, Pickle Queen of AK at October 24, 2025 07:30 PM (urtE/) 9

8 Falcons are pretty cool little cars.My first car, supposedly, Dad approved, was a 64 Falcon Futura convertible, white on red, 289, automatic. Part of the deal was Mom needed to be able to drive it and that got kiboshed with no power steering. Ended up with a Beetle as a first car, with many more (disease) after.

tcn, you may want to check your Alaska DMV regs, but AFAIK seat belts were not mandatory equipment until 1963. Many jurisdictions rule that cars originally equipped with seat belts, or built in 1963 or later, must have working seat belts installed. Cars built before 1963 may not have to have seat belts installed. Of course, many people put after-market seat belts in older cars, and some of those are very cool, looking like race parts.

Paper wasps here. They crawl, sluggishly, inside in the fall, to die warm I guess. The stinger doesn't stay in. It feels like somebody touches the skin with a flaming match. It needs work but it's beautiful and fun to drive. No power *anything*, so it feels like a go-kart, but that's part of the charm. I have already been invited to join a local car club after the club president stopped me to talk about Eggbert (my dad names all his cars) in a parking lot. Have fun with it!

TERRORIST ARRESTED IN LOUISIANA
I was going to post this one abridged for accuracy and brevity but after looking at the Yahoo, NW deserves disdain. _newsweek, Oct 20, 2025 More direct A Gaza man living in Louisiana was arrested Thursday in Lafayette for his alleged involvement in the Hamas-led terrorist attacks against Israel on October 7, 2023. Mahmoud Amin Ya’Qub Al-Muhtadi, 33, was taken into custody as part of the Justice Department’s Joint Task Force October 7 (JTF 10-7) investigation. Bondi: ‘This Monster Has Been Found’ “After hiding out in the United States, this monster … ...Al-Muhtadi personally crossed into Israel through the Malaka region and participated in assaults near Kibbutz Kfar Aza — one of the worst-hit communities during the Hamas-led massacre. Cell-tower records cited in the filing show his phone connected to an Israeli network near Kfar Aza at 10:01 a.m. on October 7, 2023, placing him inside Israel during the attack. _Yahoo, Fri, October 17, 2025 at 1:30 PM CDT Posted by: Braenyard - some Absent Friends are more equal than others _ at October 24, 2025 09:29 PM (UkwIP) 196
It's go time Donald,
I saw your comment about wind chimes in an earlier thread. Wind chimes are of the devil unless you live far enough away so your neighbors can't hear them. We've had to hear them in a couple of places we have lived. They are obnoxious. Posted by: fourseasons Preach!!! I had a neighbor that had 3 massive ones. The really deep ones. Any moderate wind and the whole block was a concert hall. I made several noise complaints until finally they took them down. It’s like what the fuck is wrong with people? Four Seasons, hubby hates wind chimes, so we have none. Every now and then we hear the neighbors but only if the wind blows just so.
