8 Drove into Anchorage today to pick up my brand new (hmmm.) 1961 Ford Falcon "tudor" sedan. It is absolutely lovely, needs all sorts of work, but wow, it looks better than even I expected.

Needs new door liner panels, exhaust, muffler, brakes, steering column adjustment, alignment, tune up, fluid change, new gas gauge, new wiper switch, set belts, a little work on some of the chrome, and a thick coat of paste wax. And probably about 12 other things I haven't found yet.

She's at the mechanics for a couple of weeks, at least. But WOW. Everyone who walked by did a double take and some took photos. The towing dude was over the moon. Lots of smiles today.

The first car I bought was a 72 Beetle. Paid the princely sum of $300 for it since the engine was shot. Put a junkyard engine in it for another $300. Drove that thing into the ground. Could get 50 mpg on the highway. Loved those cars, but DH wouldn't fit in one on a dare. He fits in the Falcon. And looks good doing it.

Many jurisdictions rule that cars originally equipped with seat belts, or built in 1963 or later, must have working seat belts installed. Cars built before 1963 may not have to have seat belts installed. Of course, many people put after-market seat belts in older cars, and some of those are very cool, looking like race parts.

Probably prudent to have them anyway, as the roads are filled with other drivers.

I am sure it’s fine, especially to feed a crowd. Our issue, beyond the lack of filter, is we make pizza at home with a crazy wood fired pizza oven we didn’t need but have, so her idea of pizza is this - fresh dough, honey sauce, prosciutto, veggies (she LOVES a boat load of spinach), She doesn’t get a lot of take out, or fast food. Or sugar. It might be borderline child abuse.

I wouldn't trust Anchorage PD to know the law. Among other things I had an asshole cop jump my ass there for not having a registration sticker on my TX license plate. The asshole can go bitch to TXDoT (at the time) as they decided in 1994 to have registration stickers on the windshield.

Therefore, yeah, I'd look at getting it equipped for modern times to the extent possible.

Cleaned the pens in the kennel today. Pulled the floor mats and beds and power washed them, swept and vacuumed the floor, sprayed soap and water on it and used a floor scrubber to suck it up, washed and refilled the water buckets, put everything back. I hurt.

I had a neighbor that had 3 massive ones. The really deep ones. Any moderate wind and the whole block was a concert hall. I made several noise complaints until finally they took them down.

"Meteor" was the Canadian counterpart to Ford; a Ford built in the Canadian plant with special trim to distinguish it. Fords got the Y-block V8 in 1954, Meteors of that year still had the flathead. There was a Canadian counterpart to the Falcon called a Frontenac.

Yeah, same here. Well, my parents did not care about gore and violence. They just shrugged and were completely HO-HUM on that. But if ANYTHING veered towards the horizontal hokey-pokey, they clutched their pearls. But they had it on ABC when Three's Company was on. Did they like it? Don't know. They could and would reverently watch crap.

I could not watch 10 seconds of Three's Company now because it would grate too much on me.
