Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Morning Report — 10/23/25![]() The Trump administration has agreed to cancel billions of dollars in federal student loan debt for as many as 2.5 million borrowers, following a federal court settlement in the case American Federation of Teachers (AFT) v. U.S. Department of Education. The settlement, filed on October 17, reinstates loan forgiveness provisions tied to income-driven repayment (IDR) programs, including Income-Contingent Repayment (ICR), Pay As You Earn (PAYE), and Income-Based Repayment (IBR). These plans cap monthly payments based on income and household size, and forgive remaining balances after 20 to 25 years of qualifying payments. The agreement comes after the AFT sued the Trump administration in March 2025, claiming it had unlawfully reversed Joe Biden-era loan forgiveness initiatives. According to the lawsuit, the Department of Education, under President Trump, removed IDR enrollment applications from federal websites and directed servicers to stop processing new enrollments and forgiveness applications. The AFT argued that this violated federal law by denying borrowers access to debt relief guaranteed by Congress.“For nearly a decade, the AFT has fought for the rights of student loan borrowers to be freed from the shackles of unjust debt—and today, a huge part of that affordability fight was vindicated,” said AFT President Randi Weingarten in a statement. “Our agreement means that borrowers stuck in limbo can either get immediate relief or finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. And, crucially, they won’t ever get taxed on that relief.Yes, this was a lawsuit and was wending its way through our highly corrupted judicial system, but shouldn't President Trump have stuck to his guns? is his settling a sell out. I certainly did not vote for this and as we all were, disgusted in the extreme over having to bail out deadbeats whose education in the main consisted of being indoctrinated by Marxists, perverts, anti-Semites, and heathens intent on dismantling this nation and society and the past 2,000 to 10,000 years of human advancement and development. I like that "Freed from the shackles of unjust debt." If only Weingarten were in fron of me so I can direct my projectile voimitus directly down her filthy pie hole. When little Susie or Johnny or their bastard-producing parents sign on the dotted line for that loan, It's not the moral equivalent of Luca Brazzi holding a gun to Johnny Fontaine's manager's head and Vito Corleone assuring them that either their signature or their brains will be on that paper. So far, Linda McMahon's work as DoE Secretary along with President Trump's putting the screws to such vipers' nests of America and Jew-hatred as Harvard have been praiseworthy and long overdue. But there is still much work to be done, because the Molotov cocktails don't make themselves nor are lit and hurled at ICE and cops all by themselves. Once again, to quote the great Rogers and Hammerstein, You've got to be carefully taught . . . Education departments in every state are on radical autopilot when they make social studies standards. Americans expect blue states to use their state social studies standards to impose identity politics ideology and action civics (vocational training in progressive activism) on schools and students, strip out factual content, and ignore or slander the history of Western civilization and America, and call it “social studies instruction” — that’s what you get in states such as Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Minnesota. But radical activists embedded in state education departments do the same thing in red states whenever policymakers and citizens aren’t looking. That’s what just happened in Alaska. . . The Alaska Social Studies Standards (2024), produced by Alaska’s Department of Education and Early Development, avoided the worst of the blue-state social studies standards’ extreme politicization, unprofessional vocabulary, and ideologically extreme content. That’s because there’s hardly any historical content. The standards’ absences include basic facts of American history, much of how our government works, and our foundational documents of liberty. The standards also introduced substantial new amounts of politicized material. And while we're on the subject 48-page report released in September exposes the depth of the nation’s teachers’ unions’ hostility toward all things Jewish. “Breaking Solidarity: How Anti-Semitic Activists Turned Teacher Unions Against Israel,” published by the Defense of Freedom Institute in September, explains how unions have worked to embed anti-Semitism into K–12 education. . . While the NEA handbook fails to mention the six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust, it manages to criticize Israel and Jews by promoting “Palestinian Nakba Education,” explaining that “the Nakba, meaning catastrophe in Arabic, refers to the forced, violent displacement and dispossession of at least 750,000 Palestinians from their homeland in 1948 during the establishment of the state of Israel.” Additionally, there was harassment and intimidation of Jews at the NEA Representative Assembly held in July. Jewish educators who spoke out against a resolution that proposed to cut ties with the Anti-Defamation League were shouted down during the proceedings. Just over a week after the assembly’s conclusion, the executive committee of the NEA’s Jewish Affairs Caucus published a chilling letter to NEA President Becky Pringle, reporting that Jewish delegates attending the gathering “were vocally mocked, harassed, and threatened in ways that dishonor our union.”Wait until they find out that Randi Weingarten is Jewish. Well, she's more Ish than Jew, but still. On a not completely unrelated note given the greatest threat to the stability and continued existence of whatever remnants of he American Republic still remain and function as intended are the combined political thuggery of Democrat politicians and policy, the corruption now systemic and endemic in the unelected unaccountable bureaucracy and our legal/judicial system and the physical thuggery and violence of the aforementioned's openly violent base — I give you this item: "On September 4," the narrative went on page 10, "a PPB officer reported seeing several older homeless people being coerced into approaching the ICE facility gate." Interesting. "Coerced" into doing something. As in being ordered to do something against their will? This revolting story reminds of something an uncle of mine, now of blessed memory, told me of his experience at the hands of the Nazis and later among the Ukrainian partisans. When they learned he was a Jew fleeing Nazi captivity, they dragooned him into being a mine detector. No, they did not issue him with electronic gear but they gave him a long stick and ordered him at gunpoint to walk in front of their column on the road and start poking at the ground. If he blew up, as was the fate of many of his compatriots, then "mine detected." And yet it's President Trump and all of us who support him that are the Nazis, fascists and racists. Antifa: so anti-fascist that they are surprisingly (not) expert and eager utilizers of fascistic tactics across the spectrum. If we do not completely dismantle and reconstruct the brainwashing mills of Pre-K through Post-Graduate into bastions of real learning as well as high temples of Western andJudeo/Christian morals and ethics, then we have no hope. How we are to do that without employing the most dare I say it "radical" of solutions, is the question. But what must be done, must be done, and yesterday!!! Have a good day! And lastly, a quick shout-out and thank you for your continued support in hitting our tip jar. It truly is appreciated more than you can know.

It's not a huge deal. It's just another thing for people to get all up in arms over for no reason. People have to have made 20-25 years of payments before their debt can be forgiven. A better solution would be for Trump to end federal involvement in student loans and, possibly, to permit them to be discharged via bankruptcy. Since the educators say that student loans are unjust, presumably because the product they're selling isn't worth the price they're charging, we should make it harder for yoots to take out huge loans for questionable degrees. If we were a democracy the government would be open today by a majority vote in the senate. Being a republic, the minority party has rights. The minority (the democrats) has chosen to keep the government closed. Posted by: Get out of my fucking shot at October 23, 2025 07:32 AM (z66Im) 20

Apparently, we don't even get a cookie for our hard work. Fun story from when I paid off my loan. I did it several months early. The next month, the bill for about $2 came. The argument the rep tried to make was that they held onto the payment and now interest had been tacked on. No dice. I gave her the tracking number from the Post Office and the name of the person who signed for the check. They were told to eat the interest or I was going to file a lawsuit. And then I made her send me a letter confirming that the loan was paid off. Posted by: NR Pax at October 23, 2025 07:40 AM (99eI0) 29

But what if the product is designed from the get-go to harm you? There is zero benefit towards any form of human flourishing by offering "Studies degrees". The courseware and the accompanying debt and homework assignments (cutting off genitals, protesting, beating up Jews, burning buildings) was designed to siphon money from the taxpayer and create Marxist cannon fodder and lifelong subscribers to antipsychotic and antianxiety meds. And, yea, the Feds need to get out of the loan biz. Posted by: Martini Farmer at October 23, 2025 07:38 AM (Q4IgG) Income-Contingent Repayment (ICR) is a federal income-driven repayment (IDR) plan that bases monthly payments on a borrower's income, family size, and total loan amount, with the payment capped at the lesser of 20% of discretionary income or the amount that would be paid on a 12-year fixed repayment plan adjusted for income. Under the current IBR plan, monthly payments are calculated based on a percentage of discretionary income, defined as the difference between adjusted gross income (AGI) and 150% of the federal poverty level (FPL) for the borrower's family size and state of residence. Borrowers who took out loans after July 1, 2014, pay 10% of their discretionary income over a 20-year repayment period, while those who borrowed before that date pay 15% over 25 years. Wonderful that NC has rejiggered the Congressional Districts. My district always elected very Conservative Congressmen, the late Walter B. Jones among them. Then they redistricted, dumping us in with enough black areas to throw the District to the Dems this last go round. My county has voted over 70% for Trump all three elections and we deserve a voice. There WILL have to be a compromise between paying off every Studies major completely, and screwing up graduates chances of ever getting out of debt.
How about this? 1) I do think you have to reinstate the disallowed payback programs. You cannot just keep cancelling them, then having them put back in place, depending on the partisan makeup of Congress and the Presidency. 2) But, put limitations on loans. There should be a MAX on amount loaned EACH year, and limited to four years total. Each year, a MAX of $25,000. No more than $100,000 total. 3) Anyone seeking a loan must meet a minimum level of preparedness, as shown by performance on standardized tests. Can't pass at an acceptable level? Go to your local community/tech college, and use the 2 year graduate transfer option. 4) Need to improve Math/English skills? Take those classes at a 2-year college, at YOUR expense (charities may contribute that tuition/fees/books as they like). Until you are can enroll in a college-level class, no loan. That would put a halt to many of the scams that permeate the loan system. 5) No non-citizens may qualify for loans of any kind funded by government. That includes "private" loans. There's a big difference between sending someone here illegally home, and Hitler's concentration camps.
The Left’s Reductio ad Hitlerum Obsession with ICE Raids Dr. Matt O’Brien, the author, doesn't get it. He is an ignorant pedant. Somehow marveling at how he can't see why people confuse concentration camps with ICE enforcement agents. The same people who are throwing rocks, shooting cops and burning buildings over "rounding up our community members" where throwing rocks, shooting cops and burning buildings because "Vaxx Deniers" weren't being rounded up and thrown into concentration camps to their satisfaction. This is when academia clouds a person's ability to recognize spiritual warfare and demonic influence and they come up with these goofy self-contradictory navel gazing comments that leaves them bewildered as to why they aren't correct on the technical details of their accusations. 42 Under the current IBR plan, monthly payments are calculated based on a percentage of discretionary income, defined as the difference between adjusted gross income (AGI) and 150% of the federal poverty level (FPL) for the borrower's family size and state of residence. Borrowers who took out loans after July 1, 2014, pay 10% of their discretionary income over a 20-year repayment period, while those who borrowed before that date pay 15% over 25 years.

6) No loans to non-citizens guaranteed by government.
7) Banks need to take a stake in the loans they guarantee. Start with 10%. If the borrower defaults, they are on the hook for the defaulted amount - and it is NOT deductible on their taxes. Gradually increase the amount the banks cover until it is 50-50. ![]() 9) The students need to see what their loans will realistically cost, AND what their likely salary will be in their chosen field, with a bachelor's, a master's, and a doctorate. In the cities like Memphis and DC, where His Majesty's Royal Guards are there in an offensive rather than defensive capacity, the cities are largely pacified within *weeks.* I did not expect this. I expected a situation like the demolition of Cabrini Green, where the bandits entrench themselves and offer armed resistance for long stretches of time, and that a citywide effort would resemble a large-scale counterinsurgency, taking months or years to put down an organized rebellion. Not so. I think we can safely this regrettable situation is 100% down to permissiveness and corruption on the part of these rotten borough governments. These troops are actually enforcing the laws, and none of them are on gang payrolls, so the criminal element just says "well, the jig is up. Time to go inside, keep quiet and tremble before the King." I would hope that the law-abiding majority populations of these cities would take note of this, and demand proper enforcement from new political leaders and police authorities after the troops leave. they do seem responsive when their ideas suck I don't like any loan forgiveness. my kids couldn't even qualify for any student loans - they are not available if you have "means." it's awful. we had 529s and scholarships thankfully but it's been ROUGH. a LOT of parents do end up with private loans, which are painful to pay back (and have no "you don't have to pay during school/grad school" clauses). because the govt decides who gets "their loans" and how much you get. total racket Posted by: BlackOrchid at October 23, 2025 08:53 AM (emBoF) 171

They sent Bobby Lee after John Brown.
Posted by: Boss Moss I heard a funny story connected with that. The only troops that Lee could find to lead against Brown were marines. So, you had an Army guy commanding Marines. At the Museum of the Marine Corps, they have an exhibit on the raid, but the exhibit gives the name of a Marine (I guess the highest-ranking one there?) as the commander. Because the Marines will not admit that they were ever commanded by an Army officer, not even one of Lee's stature. Posted by: Bulg at October 23, 2025 09:02 AM (77rzZ) 202

I don’t understand why Trump wrecking the White House isn’t a bigger story. I’ve been in the East Wing many times. Built by Teddy Roosevelt, expanded by FDR, it served a critical function for official gatherings like Medal of Honor award ceremonies and as an emergency ops center. I think the purpose is to demoralize people by destroying a symbol of democracy. The timing seemed to be in response to "No Kings Day" protests. If the next one is even bigger, maybe he'll dismantle the Statue of Liberty and sell it for scrap metal. He really thinks he can do anything he wants and there will never be any repercussions. He is mad with power and vengeance. He has more plans, too, like a giant arc-de-Trump. Gawd knows what else is in his demented mind. His likeness carved into a mountain? A London woman was slapped with a hefty fine for pouring a splash of her coffee down a storm drain before hopping on a bus, according to reports.
Burcu Yesilyurt made the split-second choice to empty “just a tiny little bit” of coffee from a reusable cup of joe down the drain instead of risking spilling it on her bus to work in southwest London on Oct. 10, the BBC reported. As soon as the drop of java dribbled out, Yesilyurt was immediately swarmed by three officers at the bus stop and slapped with a £150 (roughly $200) fine under Section 33 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, which makes it illegal to dump waste in a way that could pollute land or water, including pouring liquids into street drains. Whether or not you voted for this, rule of law is important. Ignore it and you get antifa thugs, hordes of illegals, and the disaster that is many of our major cities. And part of maintaining the rule of law is accepting it even when it does not conform to your immediate policy preferences. There is a right and wrong way to do things. In his first term Trump got caught up in doing the right thing the wrong way all the time. This time around, he has been much, much better about that. Good morning, all, and thanks, J.J.
From above, "So, lemme axe you — Is this something?" Yeah, it's nonsense & Randi & the pikers win again. OTOH, it's probably how it has to be given the outlandish amount of program fraud by applicants & "schools" under the Federal government's program. In that, there's probably no way to get the true picture of how badly the system has operated since O & Joe stepped in around 2010 and 'rebuilt' it. And you know it was purposeful & likely successful as designed & intended. (Note, however, federal & state grant programs were steeped in fraud even before they were in the game.) Maybe the only good, long-term solution is back to the days of secured 'real' educational loans through banks. The payments were lower, consolidations easier & the terms were honest & pretty straightforward. BTW, "The settlement also addresses a potential "tax bomb" that borrowers faced. Loans forgiven in 2025 will not be considered taxable income at the federal level, even if the processing is delayed into 2026." That's a very nice 'forgiveness.' PDT's administration won't be loved more or hated less because... Posted by: L - No nic, another fine day at October 23, 2025 09:33 AM (NFX2v) 271

And I truly think that the White House should be restored to original. No modification, just find the original blueprint and take it back to that. Or ... If it's necessary... Restored to the "new" configuration after it was burned and rebuilt.
If Thomas Jefferson could show up, walk in, and feel at home... Then it's right. All the extra crap should be housed in a different structure, on the grounds. All of the offices (except the Oval) can be elsewhere. Get rid of all those "executive" offices. No bowling lanes, basketball courts, conference rooms, press rooms, ...nothing. Keep any basement structures that have been added over the years for essential operations such as comms and security, etc. Posted by: Madamemayhem (uppity wench) at October 23, 2025 09:48 AM (2J/Lj) 278
