Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Costumes and Symbols of "The Baddies"![]() The greatest evils in the world will not be carried out by men with guns, but by men in suits sitting behind desks. The actual quote of C.S. Lewis is much more nuanced and detailed: I live in the Managerial Age, in a world of "Admin." The greatest evil is not now done in those sordid "dens of crime" that Dickens loved to paint. It is not done even in concentration camps and labour camps. In those we see its final result. But it is conceived and ordered (moved, seconded, carried, and minuted) in clean, carpeted, warmed and well-lighted offices, by quiet men with white collars and cut fingernails and smooth-shaven cheeks who do not need to raise their voices. Hence, naturally enough, my symbol for Hell is something like the bureaucracy of a police state or the office of a thoroughly nasty business concern." From the second preface to The Screwtape LettersWhen we think of "The Baddies" of a police state, how often do we think of the costumes of the bureaucracy of that police state? White collars and suits rather than skulls? Do the women of the bureaucracy of a police state have costumes? What about the women of the bureaucracy of a "thoroughly nasty business concern"? Helen Andrews argues woke culture is the inevitable result of women taking over pivotal industries such as law, media, and medicine. Then yesterday, Ace did a deeper dive into Helen Andrews' piece: The Feminization of Society: Threat or Menace? Helen Andrews looks at what feminism has wrought. Mostly dysfunction, decline, and dissension. This might be a tough read for some women. I don't think this is about women per se, however: It's about women with a specific mindset, the mindset of woke feminism and Girlpower Marxism. The kind of woman being pushed to the fore and put in charge of corporations and academic departments is usually a highly-political feminist who puts feminism and feminist activism far, far above the needs of the corporation or institution she is supposedly serving. Feminism was, is, and will always be predicated on the idea that Men Were, Are, and Always Will Be Wrong, and therefore any institution previously dominated by men is tainted and must be completely razed and rebuilt according to feminist Marxist principles. It's like young blacks rejecting studying and reading as "Acting White." When you reject, wholesale, practices that have a proven track record of success, you're committing yourself to unsuccessful practices. And so too with feminists, who see things like objectivity, professionalism, dispassion, and actual equality and most of all, capitalism itself, as antiquated notions of a diseased Patriarchy which must be rejected entirely. They don't want to be seen as Acting Male. And so they keep taking functioning institutions and changing them. And when you change every foundational aspect of a functioning institution, what you wind up with, most of the time, is a non-functioning institution. And they keep calling this "victory."Don't comment on old threads, but you might want to read the whole thing again, or even read Helen Andrews' piece, perhaps thinking about the craftiness of the demons described in The Screwtape Letters. They may change their tactics over time. Or, here's a link to an hour-long podcast about the essay (with a description near the beginning). ![]() Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

Soviet joke: There's a military parade in Red Square, and rows of tanks drive by, rows of artillery drive by, rows of armored personnel carriers drive by, and then rows of trucks drive by with men in suits holding briefcases standing in the trucks. As much as I don't like Chesterton - and I couldn't like him less - I do enjoy some C.S. Lewis. Because C.S. got it - every fence ever made was done by Man. And Man is the apex predator. Not because he's got big fangs or is necessarily all that smart. But Man has this thing. He's cunning. If Man makes a fence ? Pro Tip - he's generally not doing it for the benefit of his fellow man. He made it for himself. His own benefit. And Man doesn't mind climbing to the top on the backs of his fellow Man. Elephants show more honor - more reason to be trusted - than Man. I have a very, very vivid memory of high school. An argument - with a Power Christian. Not a bad chic - but naive. And also very liberal. The type that walked around sure that everyone simply tries to do the right thing. She laughed derisively in my face - when I told her that Third Trimester Abortion exists. great news, no one said: from the bbc via yahoo nooz:
Former US Vice-President Kamala Harris has told the BBC she may run again for the White House. In her first UK interview, Harris said she would "possibly" be president one day and was confident there will be a woman in the White House in future. Making her strongest suggestion to date that she will make another presidential bid in 2028 after losing to Donald Trump last year, Harris dismissed polls that put her as an outsider to become the Democrats' pick for the next election. = = Hidden under this analysis is a darker problem. The ladies coming into leadership positions often do not truly understand what their organization does or how it does it. They do not know what they do not know. As a result of this, mixed with ego, they do not attempt to understand why anything works the way it does. If anyone tries to explain, they are labeled insubordinate and a problem, and removed. Meanwhile, they make the organization change to what THEY think it does or how THEY think it should run. The problem is, when this occurs, the organization has effectively changed it's functionality. We have witnessed this everywhere, from the military to Public Health Departments to college campuses to the C Suites in corporations. Take logic and accountability away from a man and you have a woman. Now that's a stereotype - and like all of them - generally true. How do you make it even more true ? Trying to dispel it by taking certain groups and sending them straight to the top. Now lets talk about business degrees. The modern Military officer corps. The middle aged Karen will try to dress sophisticated but will fly a freak flag Party feminist symbol somewhere on their body or clothing. I think that really got started with Robert McNamara, the "brilliant" architect of the Vietnam War.
I think you are generally right - but it got started much earlier than that. The roots of it - I am sure - extend at least as far back as Leslie McNair. The Army ... the greatest bureaucracy of them all ... loved them some Leslie McNair. Even before the Five Sided Nuthouse was occupied. McNair's greatest contribution to WW II ? Insisting that we build light armor tanks with big guns. Instead of building heavy armored tanks. Reading the history of McNair defending his idea is like watching a Star Wars movie with the Jedi swinging two light-sabres against all comers. How right was he ? Because somebody here will rush to any defense of any general. He was so right that we had about 60 Separate Armored Battalions in the European Theatre at the end. Almost a one-to-one ration to Infantry Divisions. The Battalions got handed around like the Homecoming Queen on Prom Night - depending on which division needed to attack. But at least two generations bought into the idea of "the expert". Also known as Credentialism. Posted by: Head on a Swivel at October 25, 2025 12:13 PM (r9oLJ) 43

29 McNamara served under Curtis Lemay during the firebombing of Japan as some sort of bean counter. He was the guy keeping track of inflicted casualties and damage. A problem with him being SecDef during Vietnam was probably a lot of fretting on his part in WW2 and the resulting micromanagement trying to run "civilized war".

Turning people against their own nature is a specialty of modernity.
This is especially evident in what has happened to the concept of genders/sex. Just as one example; most women were happy with their lives in the home, raising kids, taking care of their husbands and enjoying a social life with all the other housewives around them. Somewhere along the way the small minority of spinsters who dedicated their lives to their careers because they had no children were turned into a role model for all women everywhere. Now women are a real majority in universities (something like a 60%/40% split), and men are more and more going into service jobs over white-collar office work. I think the ripple effects of this momentous change in families and gender roles are profound and have inundated Western civilization with dysfunction, decadence, and decline. And I don't see a way to reverse this any time soon. BTW, I adore women & nothing against those who were built to work, but I do believe that every person starts with Mom, and Mom's are stressed out so often and absent from their children's lives for most of the day which causes a chain reaction of problems throughout society. Another bullshit myth I like to kick in the teeth. Rosie didn't build everything. Most men DID NOT serve in WW II. And no women did anything industrially dangerous. Yes - they were used to do the easier jobs. The jobs were "culled" for them. Women made up a small percentage of the industrial workforce. Not 0 - what they were before - but small. 61 How come so many women have to have a pink license plate holder on the back of their car? Why are they so proud to be a woman.
I don't think I've ever seen a guy put a blue plate holder on his car to let everyone know he's a man. Posted by: Florida Peasant at October 25, 2025 12:23 PM (XALsX) Women like 'cute'. A pink license plate holder is all about cuteness. Posted by: SpeakingOf at October 25, 2025 12:30 PM (6ydKt) 81
And I don't see a way to reverse this any time soon.
BTW, I adore women & nothing against those who were built to work, but I do believe that every person starts with Mom, and Mom's are stressed out so often and absent from their children's lives for most of the day which causes a chain reaction of problems throughout society. Posted by: SpeakingOf at October 25, 2025 12:18 PM (6ydKt) What will reverse things, although at great cost, is that this model is failing everywhere, especially in the lives of the women who've followed it. For example, I have a niece who was always extremely beautiful, attractive, smart - she went this way and would have limited success, but had a series of relationships with men that were non-committed and in which (she should have always seen these things coming but never did) the rich playboys she dallied with would always dump her when a newer, younger model came along. And she'd jump from job to job, always looking for something to "fulfill" her but never settling down. Now she's over 50, and telling her relatives who care for her that she has a hard time fighting off thoughts of suicide because she has nothing left to hold onto in her life. I hereby refuse to use the term "transgender" -- there is no such thing. The closest they can get is simply "transvestite." It will always be just a man dressing like a woman, or a woman dressing like a man.
Posted by: Half Dozen at October 25, 2025 12:11 PM Speaking of butchering the language and common sense... I looked up the meaning of "vestite" and Google AI explained: "Vestite" can refer to the Italian word for "dressed" or "clothes," an electronic/pop musical artist, or the archaic English word for someone who wears clothes. The specific meaning depends on the context, but common uses include the Italian verb, the musical project, or the older, less-common term for a person who wears clothes. But then it adds: The word is also related to the term "transvestite" (coined in 1910), which historically referred to cross-dressers and is an older term for the practice of wearing clothes not typically associated with one's assigned sex. Sex is not assigned. Unless one is referring to sex being "assigned" by one's genes/biology. But usually when this phrase is used, they mean it as sex "assigned" at birth by a doctor. Which is nonsense. Posted by: Clyde Shelton at October 25, 2025 12:40 PM (P5BPp) 108

Posted by: Skip at October 25, 2025 12:14 PM Not to mention that "gender" refers to language and words, not people. Sex refers to people. There are two sexes for people and two corresponding genders for language. So what these literal mental defectives should be using is the term transsexuals, since they (incorrectly) state that one can change their sex. But that probably did not poll well, so they went with "transgender" and then proceeded to make up an infinite number of "genders"/sexes that do not exist. Do you work with anyone young ? I do. They sound EXACTLY like my older - yes, Boomers, your generation as well as the silents - family saying the same shit. The exact same FDR era shit. Exactly the same. Posted by: Head on a Swivel at October 25, 2025 01:00 PM (r9oLJ) I guess this boomer, born two years after WW2 knew exactly what socialism was. We learned as early as 5th grade what it was. By teachers who my mom had in the late 1920's. Also, my mom and dad, both born in 1918, hated FDR. They were both first generation Americans of Hungarian and Slovak ancestry, respectively. In 1956, our Hungarian church, and other Hungarian churches, sponsored many families who escaped from behind the Iron Curtain, so we kids got a good education, first hand, of the evils of socialism and communism. Exceptions exist. This gets old. But lets do it again. Stereotypes exist for a reason. Because Groups exhibit collective behavior. And people notice. Yet you can have the Thomas Sole Black and the Eric Clapton White. Our modern existence - and this is a statement I copied from someone here - is the entire mental backbend of insisting that groups do not behave as groups. The real test is what happens this quarter and going forward without the credit. Ram announced the end of the eV truck and GM is scaling way back as well. Posted by: Its Go Time Donald at October 25, 2025 01:06 PM Steve Eisman (real life Big Short person played by Steve Carrell in "The Big Short") has stated that most of Tesla's good stock price is based not on the future of the vehicles, but speculation about the potential future of the robot and the robo-taxis. They're two anti-human peas in a pod.) The white communists are fighting hard for this guy because he is an open, avowed communist, and they think his completely-fake "normal blue-collar guy" persona can be used to do what they cannot do, sell communism to the working class. www.youtube.com/watch?v=au5BWBvkK2M Posted by: Braenyard - some Absent Friends are more equal than others _ at October 25, 2025 05:08 PM (j04bB) 288

And history is against the many. To believe that, you have to disregard the street brawls between the KPD and NSDAP. You also have to disregard the backing of the NSDAP by industrialists, who knew they would be good with private property. The KPD would not, and would kill the industrialists and much else besides. The KPD and SPD were running for their lives when Germany was under the NSDAP. If they were so aligned as I am constantly assured, then they could have formed a coalition government. They didn’t. For a reason. Posted by: Cow Demon at October 25, 2025 05:20 PM (vwL3N) 289
