1 Yay, ONT!

Posted by: Blanco Basura - Z28.310 at October 17, 2025 10:02 PM (lUFok)

2 We hold these truths to be self-evident.
That some ONTs are created more equal than others.
That they are endowed by their creators
with certain ineffable charms.
That among these are wit, wisdom, memes, and music…
—things Jefferson might write today but probably not.

How can there be such a thing as a $0 tax? Exactly. There is already a lawsuit underway to abolish the current registration system, since it was established as a "tax" system. Figure a couple of years for it to wind its way through the courts.

99 @93...Protestant denominations have had enough woke stuff crammed down throats.

Changing of pronouns in the hymnals was the start in FL. A PCUSA church, the liberal arm of Presbyterians. Gheys in the pulpit, they voted for.

I stood up to the entire Presbytery and took one for our friends, as I knew we were moving. I asked the head guy, who'd arrived from Orlando, what their stance was on abortion and someone cut my mic. He later came to me and tried to smooth things over. Didn't work. I behaved because my son would have poked me if I got out of line.

The way they worked was to lie and tell churches that the members did not own them, and ours did. They convinced the elderly to vote to stay as "we" were against gheys. We were not, just not in the dang pulpit. Over 30 couples left the next day. Most moved out of state as I did, and were going to anyway, however this was the church that was conservative until it was not, and where we raised our sons.

PCA is conservative and how I grew up. However, where I am vs the Deep South there is no traditional music and I get irritated. Which is probably wrong, but I have tried. I remain a devout Christian.

I have been a Methodist since before I was born, but a year ago I left the United Methodist Church for the Global Methodist Church, which uses the traditional Book of Discipline, and is strictly scriptural-based. We are growing, I hope.

When the MoMe attendees get back, they will find that we tore out the orange shag carpeting in the ONT and replaced it with Pergo flooring, steamed the red velvet wallpaper off and painted the walls eggshell, and threw out the Elvis on black velvet tapestries and hung up some very tasteful paintings of reclining nudes.

I don't know what we're going to do about the smell though. Too much spilled beer and bong water has soaked into the subflooring over the years.

You can ditch the velvet Elvis junk, but DON'T TOUCH the 'dogs playing poker' tapestry by the dart boards. Just. Don't!

As far as that smell? Get some cheap brandy & soak the floorboards with it before putting down the Pergo. Should mask it ok. I think?

In most Catholic churches, you can still walk up for communion with your arms crossed over your chest, and receive a blessing in lieu of the communion host.

Baptized/confirmed Catholics in a state of sin can do the same.

He apparently got a gun safety briefing from somebody, because he showed up at the pistol range with a cased pistol and green wristband. That's when he met Ben Had. I'd place his age at 30-45? I did have to put on my ray-bans to read his comments. All two (?) of them.

265 Yeah it all seems strange. I missed it. I was at the rifle range getting baked by the Texas sun that obviously didn't get the memo that's its fall, not summer.

268 Friday was a work-day (sort of) for me-- finished winterizing the yard & loaded in another month's worth of heating pellets. Ugh.

Saturday will be a 'fun' day. Will check out local gem & mineral show. Maybe buy some beads, get inspired to create something... who knows?

Good night, horde.

Be safe! Sweet dreams! See you at Club ONT!

I was seeing that too. I guess we'll find out.

270 Well, that was strange. Sitting here with no radio or tv on, when I hear a rustle (not a bustle) next to my chair (not my hedgerow.)

I was expecting a mouse, when a mouse-size frog hops into the open. It did not offer to turn into a princess and be my girlfriend, so I scooped it up on a magazine and let it loose on the lawn.

I currently have no cats to pack wildlife into the house, so I assume it must have snuck in while the door to the garage was open.

271 wanted to share with people, I was actually at the US-Mexico border yesterday.

I took an Uber ride from Santa Ana to there. Doing my part to help deport! :-)

Outdoor Cat *tries* to bring stuff in, but I check carefully before letting him indoors. LOL! The doormat gets hosed-off frequently in summer, and I dare not walk barefoot onto the deck. Ew!

Can't have a "pet door" due to wildlife around here.

276 I've promised myself "next year" for 9 years.

Posted by: Reforger at October 18, 2025 02:40 AM (SG6eL)

277 Couldn't get time off this year. Too broke the year before that. No really reliable car the year before that. etc....

Posted by: Reforger at October 18, 2025 02:43 AM (SG6eL)

278 2nd therapy session today. Was amusing. He had questions about Antifa, Trump, etc. He's one of the blissfully ignorant who doesn't follow politics. But he's concerned things are about to go sideways, regrets not keeping up with current events, anxious that he'll make the wrong call.

I told him that I've been focused on this stuff for 40 years and I still get blind sided. So there's not much point in taking a crash course, just linger on the edge of the battlefield, let everyone else go first.

We went 45 mins over. I found myself asking: "so you enjoy observing people, do you find yourself isolated because of it?" LOL

Poor guy, he didn't understand what happened to Democrats, he remembers them as liberal hippies that live and let live. Didn't understand the threat of Marxism either. In fact I realized how close to paranoia I sounded as I described the danger. I half expected him to ask "is the Marxism in the room with us right now?" Haha

Posted by: Fen at October 18, 2025 02:52 AM (cNhiG)

279 And just a warning but I'd bet dollars to dognuts this Justin dude was probably the most normal looking dude the Dallas area antifa types could muster to send in.
I did infiltrate pantifa at one point about 8 years ago. The steal the guns they need thing is top of mind.
Being as public as the Mome is if someone didn't try to get in I would be shocked.
Where I there my head would be on a swivel looking out for the one or two.

Posted by: Reforger at October 18, 2025 03:01 AM (SG6eL)

280 Fen, your therapist might have been playing dumb, to get a bigger picture of your political outlook.

That doesn't necessarily mean he/she is plotting against you, or that they're on the left. But it seems a little hard to believe someone would be that out of the loop, so to speak.

Posted by: qdpsteve at October 18, 2025 03:02 AM (/p+XQ)

281 "Thought he was a glowie"

Be careful with that. An undercover Fed is at most, going to be annoyed at being called and undercover Fed. But for an innocent it stings akin to being accussed of betraying your own people. Really sucks.

I get the threat but I've seen too many witch hunts torch the wrong guy because someone wanted to show off their "supernatural perception."

Posted by: Fen at October 18, 2025 03:04 AM (cNhiG)

282 Fen, I've had a lot of people call me a fake conservative as well as a fake Christian, because I wasn't as conservative and traditional about everything as they were.

It hurts but I've moved on.

283 "Fen, your therapist might have been playing dumb, to get a bigger picture of your political outlook."

That's a good point. And to think, I was so confident that Hubris is something that only aflicts lesser men. LOL he did have me running my mouth.

Posted by: Fen at October 18, 2025 03:08 AM (cNhiG)

284 Fen, I don't want to give you the wrong idea. :-)

Your therapist could be (and if you trust him/her, likely is) fantastic, effective and 100% empathetic with you. He/she could also be absolutely committed to really helping.

I have a therapist who I *know* is a lefty, and she knows I lean right, but she still knocks herself out to give me good advice and keep me moving forward.

294 "Your therapist could be-"

It's only the 2nd visit but I'm happy with him. But yeah, in hindsight there's a method to his madness. I need to assume that he's smarter than me

Ya know, I used that as a title for a English Lit paper and got dinged for being unoriginal. I thought it was clever but apparently so does someone every semester.

It's like when I figured out solar sails by myself. People were like "yeah welcome to the party pal"

Posted by: Fen at October 18, 2025 03:42 AM (cNhiG)

295 There was an REM song that was in my ear in the 80s in Hungary (music crossed the Iron Curtain, I may have helped with that).

Could not figure out if it was "Calling Jamaica up" or "Calling to wake he up"

Listened to again now, remains unclear

Posted by: Miklos is easily confused (often) and sometimes mislead (much less often) at October 18, 2025 03:47 AM (M772T)

296 Miklos, I think REM was being deliberately unclear in a lot of those early songs. It helped build up their mystique.

When Stipe finally recorded "The One I Love," and made sure to enunciate very clearly, IMHO he sounds a little angry, as if to say "can you understand this one, lunkheads?!"
