Trump Invites Former Navy SEAL and Army Ranger to Primary Flaky Libertarian Saboteur Thomas Massie

I've had it with this grandstanding college-dorm bullshit artist.

President Donald Trump has officially thrown down the gauntlet in Kentucky, calling on former Navy SEAL and Army Ranger Ed Gallrein to challenge Rep. Thomas Massie in the 2026 Republican primary -- and promising his "Complete and Total Endorsement" if Gallrein enters the race.
In a fiery Truth Social post Friday night, Trump tore into Massie, calling him a "Weak and Pathetic RINO" who routinely sides with Democrats against America First priorities. "Third Rate Congressman Thomas Massie, a Weak and Pathetic RINO from the Great Commonwealth of Kentucky, a place I love, and won big SIX TIMES, must be thrown out of office, ASAP!" Trump wrote. The president praised Gallrein as a "true America First Patriot," highlighting his background as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and fifth-generation Kentucky farmer. "A Brave Combat Veteran, Ed knows the Wisdom and Courage required to Defend our Country, Support our Military/Veterans, and Ensure PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH," Trump said, adding that Gallrein "will fight tirelessly to Keep our now very Secure Border, SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment."
Trump also made clear that Gallrein's experience as a businessman and farmer makes him the kind of results-driven leader Congress needs. "He knows how to Create GREAT Jobs, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Promote MADE IN THE U.S.A., Support our Amazing Farmers and American Agriculture, Unleash American Energy Dominance, and Champion our Nation's Golden Age," Trump continued. Calling Massie a "totally ineffective LOSER," Trump declared, "CAPTAIN ED GALLREIN IS A WINNER WHO WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN... RUN, ED, RUN -- MAGA!"
Gallrein, in a statement to Breitbart News, expressed gratitude for Trump's support and hinted at an announcement soon. "I'm honored by President Trump's support," he said. "He is doing an amazing job securing the border, lowering taxes, and making America great again. I will make an announcement on what's next soon!"

DOGE cuts are discretionary spending - cuts to federal bureaucracy, etc. BBB was a reconciliation bill, under Senate budget rules you cannot cut discretionally, only mandatory. BBB was not a budget bill, it does not fund departments, it does not fund agencies or programs. What it did do is welfare reform to the tune of trillion of dollars, massive tax cuts, and some other stuff. They left the good stuff proposed by DOGE where it belongs, to rescissions package (s). People were harping on DOGE stuff being included where it does not belong, cannot belong.

Massie is out in the street, doesn't see a crowd but starts figuratively shooting anyway. Just like Democrats, literally.

If Massie had a critical mass of like-minded Congress Critters, then he would be effective. With the current composition, he is just an asshole.

In a representative legislature, you're never going to have things 100% your way. You inevitably have to compromise. Would I like a government like the one Massie envisions? Yes. Do I expect to get it by having representatives who take their ball and go home every time they don't get things 100% their way – absolutely not.

277 I'm not here to defend Massie. I'm not sure what's he's been doing or why, especially recently, because it always seems to help the Dems, but I do know a few things because I used to work for him at a small startup company (

First, he's not stupid. He's a tech genius, having invented a haptic device that allows you to use your sense of touch to interact with computer modeling software. He did that and created the company while he was still at MIT. Just one of his many technical achievements.

Second, he's anything but a RINO. At least not then, and nothing I've read has disabused me of that fact.

He may be an unregenerate Libertarian -- and to be honest, I've lost my patience with them -- but he was, let's just say, unpopular, back then back in Massachusetts among employees and others for his well-known political views.

In short, people marveled at his brains but Mass-types did not care for his politics. At all.

So, as I said, I don't care for what he's doing, especially when it comes to thwarting MAGA, but to say he's a stupid RINO is seriously wrong on both counts.
