Mitch McConnell Takes a Hard Fall in Public Again

Gerontocracy.

Former Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell took another fall Thursday inside a Senate office building, adding to a growing list of health scares for the 83-year-old Kentucky Republican. The incident occurred as McConnell was heading toward the Capitol for votes when he appeared to lose his footing, grabbing at an aide's arm moments before hitting the floor. Staffers and a Capitol Police officer quickly helped him up, and McConnell waved to onlookers before carefully walking away.

Video of the fall was captured by members of the left-wing Sunrise Movement, a climate activist group known for confronting lawmakers in the halls of Congress. McConnell's office has not yet released a statement about the latest incident.

The veteran senator--who announced in February that he will not seek reelection next year--has faced a string of similar episodes over the past few years. In 2023, McConnell suffered a concussion and a fractured rib after a serious fall that required hospitalization and a short stay in rehab. He later experienced multiple on-camera "freezing" episodes that raised new concerns about his health. Earlier this year, McConnell briefly relied on a wheelchair after what aides described as lingering mobility issues related to childhood polio.

McConnell will eventually be replaced by the Democrat governor Andy Beshear. The Kentucky legislature passed a law stating the the governor can only appoint a senator from a list given to him by the legislators, but I don't think the state constitution contemplates any such restrictions, so the law will be found to be unconstitutional.

So this power-craving ghoul will wind up giving us a Democrat senator at some point. To be fair: Barely a difference.

We are ruled by a Vampirocracy.

9 I don't think that mandatory retirement ages are unreasonable for congress. They could just pass it as a rule as well: you get past x age in congress, we won't seat you, and will disqualify you for service in this house. I am nearly 60 and can tell that my body and to a lesser extent my mind ain't what it used to be.

We need the best and most capable in office, not decrepit mummies barely able to vote. This was my primary objection to Trump: he's still vigorous but is clearly slowing down and is getting quite old.

Then we'll have an election where a Democrat will have a pretty good shot at his seat. Beshear has little to do with that. Kentucky's election machine is McConnell's until his death.

76 "Power must be the most intoxicating drug on Earth. They are clinging bitterly to the end!"

It depends on whether they're leaving 'their' fortunes to their kids or not. I use that for a tell for whether someone's fortune is really 'his' or if he's maybe just a bagman for a racket or cabal of some kind.

Rock stars are a good place to start for examining this, since the work itself (for a live show) is hard and unglamorous. You'd think at some point, they'd rather relax and spend time with their money and grandkids, if they had the option. One rumor is that the big stars who keep working to the grave literally aren't 'allowed' to choose their own homes; they bought The Ticket to fast success, and part of the price (along with their souls) is having to do as they're told -- such as being required to buy more mansion than they can afford to pay for outright, so that they're always in debt and having to work to make payments.

But this pattern of working themselves to death and leaving a pittance to their posterity applies across many different industries, even including some of the supposedly richest men on Earth such as Warren Buffett. Food for thought.

Her staff was responsible for that. They were signing things "for her." Propping her up in public. It was a minor scandal at the time, but pushed under the rug because Democrats do that sort of thing all the time.
-------

Its *treated* as a "minor thing" because "our" side allows it. Just like that congress woman who was found LIVING in a memory center while still in office. Her STAFF should have been prosecuted for *fraud* because they were still getting paid and for that to happen somebody from that staff was still sending in pay claims pretending actual work was getting done.

All of government that isn't outright grifting is the equivalent of mortgage fraud. So long as we pretend "everybody does it", everyone will.

I do make fun of Nancy because she is so mean and I don't like her. I keep hoping her dentures will fly out of her mouth in one of her rages. I'd like that a lot.

There needs to be age limits, term limits and time spent on our dime in DC to discourage this. The only way to stop it, and their yearly raises to themselves for doing mostly nothing, is for it to appear on a ballot.

For the most part they are wining, dining, having little committees and accomplishing nothing at all. They fund raise as soon as they are elected for their next election. This is 95% of what they do, when not crossing the damn aisle to co-mingle with the enemy. I farht in the general direction of Capitol Hill.

I was in restaurants in DC with some of them. Their dinners, no doubt, billed as business. They were wanting to glad hand me and I pretended not to recognize them or give them attention.

140 Yeah, I tell these young people it's no fun getting old. All I hear from them is they can't wait to retire they are so sick of working all the time. But by the time they get there they need to understand they are not going to feel as good as they do now. I wake up everyday to a new pain somewhere. It usually goes away after some time but not always. ... But they will learn that someday.

--

My grandpa lived to be 98. He used to tell me that when I was in my 20s. "It's hard getting old," he'd say. He was the most good-natured man I ever knew, never a complainer, but I knew he meant what he said. You can't wrap your brain around that when you're young. I understand now.

Thanks.

I don't think there's one type of octogenarian performer. I think some have lots of money and need more to keep going. I think some probably are grateful they have this talent and just really love to do it. I know a guy who's been playing guitar for years - about 50. it's his avocation and he just loves it. He does something else as Carter.

206 FWIW, Kentucky GOP passed this law in 2024

"Under the current process established by House Bill 622, which passed in 2024, the governor must call a special election to fill a vacant U.S. Senate seat.
The winner of this election serves the remainder of the unexpired term. The special election follows an open, bipartisan "jungle primary" format, allowing any candidate who collects 1,000 valid signatures to run, regardless of party affiliation.
If no candidate receives a majority of the vote, a runoff is held between the top two vote-getters.

The timing of the special election depends on when the vacancy occurs. If it happens more than three months before a regularly scheduled election, the special election is held at that time. If the vacancy occurs closer to an upcoming election, the Senate seat is filled during the next scheduled election unless no election is planned for the following year, in which case the governor must call a special election within 60 to 90 days."

Beshears cites Section 152 on Vacancies in KY Constitution, "Vacancies in all offices for the
State at large, or for districts larger than a county, shall be filled by appointment of the
Governor".

He has the prince title by birthright, so he will be called Prince Andrew. Not sure if Sarah will start using Ferguson again, or if she will be allowed to give Princess Andrew a go, because that's what she was when she was married to him (as another example of the "Princess Husband's First Name" rule, Meghan Markle is Princess Henry).

As an aside, the York dukedom goes to the 2nd son of the monarch, so Louis is next up for it.

251 Barbara Eden >> Liz Montgomery

Barbara Eden was no slouch, but I didn't care for her in the role of Jeannie because the character was such a ditz. Even as a kid, I liked smart women, and Samantha was a smart cookie. Therefore, she took the palm in my book.

Thanks, I try. My grandmothers and mothers lived into their mid-90's. So I hope I can stay upright as long if life is still good.

I am going to a derm esthetician soon to get some things zapped and a few spots removed. I have good skin in spite of the tanning years.

I said no to fillers and Botox, as I am not going to deal with that or having a filler move to my forehead. Plus I am allergic to air and heaven knows what all that crap would do.

I look at these insane women who get lip filler trout mouths and think, wow, you are going to regret that! Also wonder if their lips are numb and if they drool like I am from the dentist. Unless they keep this up their lips are going to be wrinkled and flat and floppy (I would guess). A recent photo of Goldie Hawn scared me.

I see a derm yearly due to skin cancers from tanning like a loon in my youth. I see an esthetician about every 10 yrs. It's been 15yrs and I need a boost before Christmas.

Posted by: Blonde Morticia at October 17, 2025 03:16 PM (ldc7S)

Yes but that doesnt work with me because I don't listen.

It's just a self kick in the ass I need. Asking here was my first step to jumping back in.

In other words the question was the decision already having been made which is the advice I would have been giving myself if it wasn't me asking.

I know what I mean. Doesn't mean I'm not interested in people's thoughts because I am.

257 recommend just identify some "baby steps" that would move the needle even the slightest bit forward. And do one of them. And then perhaps a second one. And then see if you can re-build some momentum.

Oh, and rub some dirt on it.

That's good too. I do that with my artwork and it works. Once the brush is in your hand kind of thing. Thanks. And thanks Blondie.

Good for you, staying away from the plastic stuff.

I saw on an earlier thread what you were going to make for your husband. What time do you eat? I'll even bring wine and a floral centerpiece.

Barbara Eden was no slouch

After a cursory online investigation, it seems Barbara's bust size is slightly larger than Liz's.

261 Karoline Leavitt: don't make her mad.

Hakeem Jeffries and the Democrats are lashing out because they know what I said is true.
The Democrat Party's elected officials absolutely cater to pro-Hamas terrorists, illegal aliens, and violent criminals.
House Democrats voted against a resolution condemning Hamas following the horrific October 7th terrorist attacks, and Democrats cheered on pro-Hamas radicals while they hijacked America’s college campuses and harassed Jewish students.

Democrats opened our borders and allowed tens of millions of illegal aliens into our country over the past four years, including rapists and murderers, because they view them as future voters.
Democrats coddle violent criminals and support soft-on-crime policies like cashless bail that let violent offenders back on the streets to hurt law-abiding citizens.
Democrats do NOT serve the interests of the American people.
Hakeem Jeffries is an America Last, stone-cold loser.
Now open up the government and stop simping to try to get your radical left-wing base to like you.

267 Democrats are competitive in Kentucky's state government elections. However, the last Democrat to win a U.S. Senate seat did so in 1992. The last time a Democrat did so de novo was in 1974.

Yes, I smile at McConnell falling on his face for what he has done to this country. Sorry. Not.
