Jimmy Kimmel's Ratings Have Now Fallen Lower Than They Were Before His Dangerous Disinformation Propaganda

The network averaged 2.483 million total primetime viewers and 243,000 viewers in the Adults 25-54 demographic during Q3 2025. For total day viewership, Fox News recorded 1.568 million total viewers and 159,000 in the demo. Compared to Q2 2025, the network saw a 6% decline in total primetime viewers and a steeper 20% drop in the demo. Total day figures showed a 4% decrease in total viewers and a 21% decline in the demo.

MSNBC faced even more pronounced declines during the same period. The network averaged 802,000 total primetime viewers and just 66,000 in the Adults 25-54 demographic. For total day, MSNBC recorded 492,000 total viewers and 41,000 demo viewers. Compared to Q2 2025, primetime viewership fell by 20% in total viewers and 27% in the demo, a drop attributed in part to anchor Rachel Maddow's transition to hosting her show only once a week. Total day numbers reflected a 17% decline in total viewers and a 28% drop in the demo.... As a result, MSNBC's rankings slipped, moving to third place in primetime total viewers and dropping from 15th to a tie for 20th in the demo alongside Investigation Discovery. For total day, the network fell from second to third in total viewers and slid three spots to 14th in the demo.
CNN also struggled to retain its audience in Q3 2025, averaging 538,000 total primetime viewers and 87,000 in the demo. Total day viewership stood at 396,000 total viewers and 61,000 demo viewers. Compared to Q2 2025, CNN's primetime viewership remained flat in total viewers but fell 17% in the demo, while total day saw a 2% dip in total viewers and a 14% decline in the demo... In the rankings, CNN placed fifth in primetime total viewers and tied for 10th in the demo with Discovery Channel and Nick at Nite. For total day, the network climbed one spot to fourth in total viewers but held steady at sixth in the demo, tied with the Food Network.

His show was incongruous with their viewing habits and the national conversation, and it may face similar and necessary repercussions again.
American politics has long been fused with entertainment, and people are getting tired of it. The abundance of television shows like "South Park," popular music, and celebrities lampooning or critiquing current events has made politics inescapable. Pew Research Center (PRC) found that almost two-thirds of Americans feel exhausted when thinking about politics. It's an awesome outlet to let folks of practically any age exercise their creativity, tactics, cooperation, conversation, etc while spending actual time in real life with real people. It's the brain exercises we should be doing at play. Same as tabletop board gaming - another avenue which emphasizes more competition than cooperation (although certain games now do the latter) and maybe less creativity, but still provides the social and mental growth for down time.

It's not just little kids that need "play" - they just need it way more than adults, but adults still need communal interaction and play, ESPECIALLY away from screens and in an active state (vs passive reception, like tv or movies or social media)...

Dungeons & Dragons is a relatively minor component of WotC, which in turn is a relatively minor component of Habsro. It's unlikely that Hasbro executives will ever take sufficient notice of D&D that they would consider selling it or spinning it off; D&D already went through a period of lower sales with the game called "D&D 4th edition", during which the Pathfinder RPG (based on AD&D 3rd edition) outsold it, and "D&D 5th edition" has been selling much better.

Lots of old TV out there. Antenna and MeTV (and I think MeTV is streaming now as well as broadcast) then other streaming services. I tend to watch foreign tv streaming channels nowadays or YT. The foreigners may have political sides to them but being not of the place and/or time when it is relevant to me, makes me oblivious to it for entertainment.

Lots of yutes watch anime series and our Anna Puma and Pixy are both big fans I think of those series.

I think it is more the preponderance of elderly in society that is rare historically. Older people literally do get set in their ways, their beliefs, etc. as a group. But given the baby dearth (not talking about immigrants) in the US since at least the 70's, our population skews much older in political power and wealth than previous generations of humans. Same dynamic going on in Euroland, Japan, and China.

An aging society reacts very differently to challenges than a younger one.

I was curious one day and asked my husband what he noticed first on the hospital elevator where we met. A girl he was sort of dating introduced us.

He said: eyes/boobs/hair. I am unsure how he saw much of anything as I was wearing a white uniform and my hair was up in a bun. Then, with his hands, he did a mocking of my eyelashes, which I was not batting but looking down as I thought he was handsome.

He ain't ghey. I was the last of his girlfriend collection that was a lot when he adds them up from HS. I guess his x-ray eyes could see under the uniform? Dunno.

Takes time for the audience to die away. Given another decade, probably half the current viewers of cable news will be gone and mebbe about 1/3 of broadcast tv.
There is a reason that all the entertainment companies now want to spin off and ditch their cable TV channels and even broadcast networks probably will be on the block when Iger leaves (ABC). If they wait too long, the properties will be worth nothing.

Streaming and on demand is the future and that means a very splintered media landscape compared with broadcast tv or even cable news era.

I don't know about magic cratering, there are still tournaments all over the world that draw hundreds of people with payouts in the thousands of $$$. It is still viable as far as the competitive market goes. And almost all of the tournaments are open sealed deck tourneys where the players buy in and play with random deck builds.

That is an individual pique that some people have when their particular group is classified as to its general characteristics. Generalities actually do fairly well as typologies are usually the first attempt to systematize understandings.

And shared socialization is one of those things regarding age cohorts that inevitably affect how they see and view the world. Not everyone is the same obviously but when you subject a vast majority of a cohort to the same socializing events, likes, etc., then you get similarities among that cohort that are less relevant when describing different cohorts.

If one is mathematically inclined, then you take the next step using statistical controls of events when looking for patterns from the simple to the complex. But your recommendations are about as bad as mindless generalizations.

I'd speculate (and possibly wager) that the "No one would do that!" crowd correlates very closely with the cohort that still has network TV service and newspaper subscriptions. When the world left their tech behind, it left them behind as well and they're permanently stuck there. They don't see the change because they're looking at something different entirely.

I was polite to you--pique is what people do when they don't like particular generalizations of their group (see above with about D&D players for example). It is a generalization which you promptly took as a personal attack. It is more an observation about personalities.

I learned factor and cluster analysis way back in the 90's for particular projects which originated in trying to understand how to create a typology and what joins a group together is as important as distinctions between groups. And those factors in society are socialization with perhaps a dash of genetics.

You might try reading some of that literature in social sciences from the 70's to the 90's where we tried to understand similarities and dissimilarities in groups and struggled to actually put that into mathematical models. Sometimes we did well, sometimes not depending on the subject.

So you do you. I'll do me.
