Another Surprise: The Grifter Who Traded Defense Stocks While Serving on the House Armed Services Committee and Who Cheated at Annapolis Turns Out to be Taking Money from a Chinese Communist Party Agent, Too

A perfect Democrat candidate for governor in the corrupt state of New Jersey.

Just so you know: Commenters asked why we're talking about the NJ and Virginia races now. Well, remember, those races occur off-cycle -- in three weeks, to be precise. These are live elections that will be decided on November 3rd or whatever.

A Chinese auto executive and an active member of the Chinese Communist Party donated over $65,000 to New Jersey Democratic gubernatorial candidate Rep. Mikie Sherrill's campaign, according to state campaign finance disclosures. Those donations may very well be illegal: The law bans foreign nationals from donating to U.S. political campaigns.
The executive, Pin Ni, leads the U.S. subsidiary of the Hangzhou, China-based automotive and industrial powerhouse Wanxiang Group. He wrote two checks in the amount of $30,000 in February and July, respectively, to the super PAC supporting Sherrill's campaign. In June, Ni made a maximum contribution of $5,800 directly to Sherrill's campaign.
The Federal Election Campaign Act prohibits foreign nationals from donating to state and federal political campaigns, and Chinese law prohibits CCP members from holding foreign citizenship.
Ni's donations, which were reported in filings with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission this week, make him one of the top contributors to Sherrill's election effort and represent the only donations he has made in New Jersey.
Ni has been very active in federal elections in recent years. Since 2020, he has made 152 contributions worth more than $1 million, the majority of which have benefited Democrats, according to Federal Election Commission data. The two largest recipients of his political contributions are the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and Biden Victory Fund.
He has also given tens of thousands of dollars to members of the House Select Committee on the CCP, including Sherrill. For example, Ni has donated $92,500 to Rep. Darin LaHood (R., Ill.); $14,500 to Sherrill's federal campaign; $13,400 to Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D., Ill.), the ranking member of the select committee; and $3,000 to Rep. Ro Khanna (D., Calif.).

"Republican" Darin LaHood is the son of the "Republican" who defected to work for Obama. My friend Mike Flynn ran against him, but then-Speaker John Boehner invited him to one of his million-dollar corporate oligarch fundraisers and destroyed Flynn at the polls.

A spokeswoman for Sherrill's campaign declined to comment.

New York City's public financing system matches local contributions up to eight times the first $250, amplifying small-dollar donors. Mamdani has received contributions from controversial organizations and individuals, according to reports.
Five staff members from the Islamic Circle of North America contributed $1,300 to his campaign, generating $7,700 in total funds through matching. The Council on American-Islamic Relations donated $100,000 to a Mamdani-aligned political action committee, the outlet reported.
College and university workers provided more than 2,000 individual donations to the candidate. New York academics at various institutions contributed just over $105,000, or up to $690,000 when boosted by matching funds.
Mamdani has refused to condemn calls for violence against Israel. He used this week's Oct. 7 anniversary to accuse Israel of "genocide."
The candidate's supporters reject accusations of extremism. Vox recently described Mamdani's agenda as "not-so-radical," portraying him as a neighborhood activist and champion of the working class.

Mamdani is following the Obama playbook to the letter: He just got caught taking over $13,000 in illegal donations from foreigners.

New York City's leading mayoral candidate, Zohran Mamdani, raised nearly $13,000 from donors with addresses outside the United States, a Fox News review of New York City Campaign Finance records show -- raising questions about campaign compliance and transparency.
As of Oct. 3, at least 170 of the nearly 54,000 contributions to the Mamdani campaign may violate campaign finance rules, as only U.S. citizens or permanent legal residents are permitted to contribute to American political campaigns. Candidates are expected to return illegal donations.
As of Tuesday, records revealed that 91 of the foreign donations have been refunded. According to data from the New York City Campaign Finance Records contribution refunds, $5,723.50 of the nearly $13,000 has been returned to foreign donors.

I remember reading decades ago about some studies that showed organizations that remained under about 100 members were still nimble and efficient and effective -- but once they went north of 100 it started to break down into a bureaucratic tendencies at minimum linearly -- and the larger they grew, the more rapidly it stalled.
