Haxios: Democrats Are Afraid to Sue Trump Over His Shutdown Manuevers

Trump and Scott Bessent are prioritizing paying the military and paying welfare payments for single mothers. They are de-priortizing paying bureaucrats.

An Axios piece reporting that while Democrats want to force Trump to pay their bureaucrat friends first and foremost, they're too afraid to sue Trump and to make their own priorities clear.

Democrats in Congress say President Trump's methods for paying military service members and funding food stamps for vulnerable communities are clearly illegal. But they're not keen to fight him on it.
Why it matters: It's a rare instance where Trump is going mostly unchallenged as he ignores Congress' constitutional role in controlling federal spending.

Several House Democrats in battleground district said privately that it would be a massive political headache for them if party members challenged the payments.
"The legality is questionable, but politically I hope Democrats don't do it," said one lawmaker who spoke on the condition of anonymity to provide candid thoughts about the political dynamics around the shutdown.
Said another vulnerable House Democrat: "I'd say that it's a good thing we're helping poor people who are facing food prices and it's good that we're paying the troops."

From Ed Morrissey, who also writes that Joni Ernst is proposing that Russ Vought's Reductions in Force be made permanent.

If they're "non-essential employees" during a shutdown, doesn't that mean they're also non-essential employees outside of a shutdown?

[Fox:] "Schumer's Shutdown shenanigans have already wasted $4.4 billion paying 750,000 'non-essential' federal employees not to work for more than two weeks," Ernst told Fox News Digital.
"My Non-Essential Workers Transparency Act will expose the lost productivity and true cost of Democrats' political stunt," she said. "It will also help expose which parts of the bloated bureaucracy are truly 'non-essential' and should be put on the chopping block to increase efficiency in Washington for taxpayers."

This is all completely legal.

I'm enjoying the hell out of it. The fence was actually on city property not federal so they took it down and replaced it with concrete barriers on federal land.

In a way, woman have the better end of that, as men don't value height in women as much as women value height in men. Men do value in-shape women, but at least that's something women can control. Short guys are basically just fucked. A significant percentage of women simply will not date them. They'd take a chubby tall guy over a fit short guy.

When I was a little kid, I lived across the street from a College. It was in the 70's and at the height of the streaking age. My brother and I used to grab a soda and sit on the porch every evening waiting for the booby hijinks. When a female would go by we'd cheer (we showed no discretion on beauty...just boobs). When a male would run by (which sorrowfully, was most of them)...we'd boo or show indifference.

People like what they like, even if it's something that people can't alter, but let's be real here: short guys usually meet the height requirements by standing on top of a sufficiently large pile of money.

For those that missed some of this topic last thread, what we're referring to here is known as "hoeflation" : the dating app enabled phenomenon where 90% of women on the dating/marriage market feel they are competitive for, or even entitled to, the top 2% of men and aren't willing to "settle", usually resulting in being miserable single cat ladies.

I'm ... a bit past 29, and not exactly in the best shape of my life though not fat, but my age/income/height/weight puts even me into the top few percentiles. These chicks are delusional.

On the flip side though, I have had to explain to a few young women that they're basically unicorns and need to stop dating fucking losers. Go look up the percentage of fit women, never married, no ink, no kids, aged ~24-29. They're as rare as the 6'2"+ fit guys with fat wallets.

Fair enough. I wouldn't classify myself as an extreme workout type. It's also true that being obese makes a big difference on lifespan and quality of life. Not being obese puts me ahead of a lot of Americans. Regardless, I could be hit by a bus tomorrow, so I'm just doing what I can to improve my chances.
