Saturday Night Jokes and Other Funnies Four college guys go on a weekend road trip. They are having such a good time that they decide to play hooky and skip out on their Monday exam in psychology. They all send their professor an email saying they had a flat tire while out of town and the professor said no problem, unexpected things happen. They could take it on Tuesday. Celebrating their white lie they had another big night out and headed back on Monday. When they got back on campus Tuesday they went and saw their professor and she asked if they were all right, thanked them for letting her know ahead of time, and told them to get ready for the test. Inwardly laughing they were separated into four separate rooms so as not to cheat. All four flipped over the sheet and saw only two questions: For 5% credit, what does DSM stand for in the DSM-5? For 95% credit, which tire went flat? Drink of the Night Choices without limit. ![]() ![]()
Club ONT Department of History You may know the town of Taft in California, but did you know that Taft was originally the Town of Moron? ![]() The town began as Siding Number Two on the Sunset Railroad. According to a display at the West Kern Oil Museum, local residents asked the Southern Pacific Railroad if the station could be named Moro when the rails arrived in about 1900, but a railroad official declined because the name would be too easily confused with the coastal town of Morro Bay. Instead, the railroad directed the station be called Moron, a word which as yet had no association with lack of intelligence. Pictures of local businesses, including the Moron Pharmacy, hang in the museum. After a fire burned much of the town, the name was changed (in 1909) to Taft in honor of William Howard Taft. Did Someone Say Get Together? Texas MoMe X is flying under the radar. For now. There have been some ragers over the years. Belshazzar, the ruling co-regent of Babylon, threw a great big party for 1,000 of his closest friends. He demanded the ceremonial gold and silver goblets from the temple of Jerusalem — taken after Babylon conquered Jerusalem in 587 BC — be brought to him so his guests could sip beer from the sacred vessels in a flashy, sacrilegious show. Story goes that the hand of God promptly arrived to kill the party and smite Belshazzar, who lost his kingdom and his life later that night. *** Admiral Russell of the Mediterranean fleet took “drunk as a sailor" to new depths with his week-long cocktail party. In 1694, Russell invited 5,000 sailors to the bash, where the drink of choice was a large fountain full of a brandy wine punch. For reference, the fountain was so large that it’s said men in canoes rowed around inside it to serve as bartenders. To recreate it at home, just take 250 gallons of brandy, 125 gallons of wine, 1,400 pounds of sugar, 2,500 lemons, 20 gallons of lime juice, and 5 pounds of nutmeg. Serve shaken, stirred, or paddled. What's the biggest rager the Horde has attended? Texas MoMe Thoughtful Hordelings Tokens courtesy of haffhourshower. Ok, who is saying they can't dance out of their dang pride? Find them for me. I cannot deal with people who say they can't. You can.
Do I have to give a lesson from here? I can, you know. Downbeat...find it. Use only your hands/arms while your hips sway a bit. I had the base player of Jethro Tull screw up his bass watching me do this and Ian Anderson yelled at him. I was asked to the after party but my brother and friends would not let me go... You can do this. If you must high step or boot scoot to the down beat, keep your arms bent and next to your body (if that makes sense). Snappig fingers. DO NOT USE arms and legs at the same time and look like Elaine on Seinfeld. Think of me while you dance and it will be good. Most of the wild parties I attended in college were at my apt...ground floor of a century old home. Wall to wall people, many my roommate and I did not know. Music on my stereo, about half of what was pictured below, but good amps and sound. Not a lot of dancing as there was no room.
Because we were classy, there was always a keg in the bathtub with ice. Two lines formed: one for just beer...the fast line. The other for the loo and, I guess, beer. I thought nothing of this as it was a common thing in the late '70's. No beer spilled, no harfing, nothing burned in that rental by miracles...as this was nearly every month. A cop came once, I think my classmate upstairs called because she had to work the next morning. I blame her. I answered the door, knowing he was watching us for awhile through the picture window on the porch. There was some, uh, smoke. He looked calmly at me and told us to turn it down a bit. I think he wanted to join us. Anyway, I have had fun in my life and still do believe it is important to have fun. I admit I wish we had livestream of this party in Texas. Floor seats, standing on them, 5th row. My buddies had to hold me to keep me from falling. Security lost control of the upper tiers of the sold out venure. ____________________ As an undergrad, I participated enthusiastically in the Fraternity scene. My frat had a reputation to hold a giant keg party with the first snowfall of the year. And, it was outside, in the woods (just off school property to avoid overzealous law enforcement types). The one year, it lined up on a Friday afternoon, big storm (over 1 ft. of snow), and that night was a school sponsored concert...can't remember the group, but it was someone big. People were in the mood to party....and it ended up being a couple thousand students. The local distributor rented a van to run out kegs and pick up empties, with little down time between trips. @116...did y'all make snowsculptures?
The first time my future husband met my mother was when I graduated from nursing school. She flew out and we took her to breakfast. Then had a tour of the town. We rounded a corner just as I announced the college with a wave. Where she and my father had been paying tuition for 2.5yrs. Right next to the college sign was a 10' snowsculpture of a very anatomically correct erection. Circumcised. This is no exaggeration. I was stunned, to say the least. Met my boyfriend's eyes in the rear view mirror (I was on the backseat). Nearly bit my tongue in half trying not to laugh hysterically, as was he. Golly. I waited decades to ask my mother about this and she claims she does not remember. I don't see how she'd forget! It was by a boy's dorm, of course. Morons, without a doubt! They tried to shut it down, by saying everyone needed to make sure they were wearing underwear... so we raffled off who got to check, as a door prize... Guy to check the girlz, Girl to check the guyz. Band didn't understand the vib... and when they were setting up were set upon by some of our fine Navy Ladies, who went and dressed them in Togas. Posted by: Blonde Morticia Be Had (may her tribe increase!) Awoke one night from a deep dream of peace, And saw, within the moonlight in his room, Making it rich, and like a lily in bloom, An angel writing in a book of gold:— Exceeding peace had made Ben Had bold, And to the presence in the room she said, "What writest thou?"—The vision raised its head, And with a look made of all sweet accord, Answered, "The names of those who love Big Brother." "And is mine one?" said Bed Had. "Nay, not so," Replied the angel. Bed Had spoke more low, But cheerly still; and said, "I pray thee, then, Write me as one that loves her fellow Morons." The angel wrote, and vanished. The next night It came again with a great wakening light, And showed the names whom love of God had blest, And lo! Ben Had's name led all the rest. Yet denies this moment in time. Which I will never forget. It IS possible she'd never seen a snow sculpture before, coming from MS. With the two hour time change and adjusting to the altitude (oh, bullsharte!). Maybe she thought it was a Western type snowman?! I know I needed to have my bf stop the car so I could lie down on the sidewalk and howl with laughter. But we carried on. Keep calm and carry on. She has a wicked sense of humor, so when I gave her the chance to say anything 30yrs later she truly seemed to not remember. I know from letters home she saved I drove them insane. There will be another one next lunation about the same phase, around Nov. 9, but it won't be as close. Moon will be pretty close to Venus this morning right before dawn if interested. Travelled all the way to Texas to participate in a MoMe. What a great get together. Fun location, great people, lots and LOTS of great conversations, nice food and hooch, and extremely gracious hosts. It's really hard to believe. It's really hard to explain. It doesn't seem possible that a horde of people who simply know each other via little gray boxes could get together in real life and everything go so well. But there it is. The biggest rager I ever had was my 21st Birthday. My mom remarked "That's the biggest rock Stadium I've ever seen built" And it wasn't even near my College or Christy's Sorority she attended. It was in one of our farm pastures. Why is it out in the Country, she asked pensively? I told her it was for the sound. I had flown my future Wife Christy's family in to meet the band. They were Hoity-Toity and Keith Moon just blew them off. Later as I was hooking up generators for the show I saw my future Wife Christy reeling in horror as Keith was Vomiting on their expensive luggage. (the horror!!!) During the show, people got confused which horse tank had the kegs in it and which one was the urinal and Chaos ensued!!!! Ted Nugent hit on my GF Christy and I didn't see her for another 4 hours. Her family said she was a good proper girl so I didn't worry about it too much. She was aloof and non-committal for about 3 weeks after that (I think something happened!) Anyway my future (now wife) Christy live in total happiness (for real!) We love our grandkids.

>> publius - How's your mom?
They're getting the edema down. They're going to keep her there for a couple more days, I think. The trouble is venous insufficiency in her leg veins (you know those check-valves in the big leg veins -- they're not working right with her age, been a problem for over 10 years). It's no problem as long we can get her to elevate her legs every day for long enough and not sit up too long at a time. Trouble here was the pneumonia. It made it hurt to breathe lying down, so she wanted to sit up. And no matter how hard we tried, she'd just sit back up when we turned our heads. And thus her legs swelled. No, that back up of fluid eventually begin pressing on her lungs, making it more difficult to breath lying down, so even more stronger urge to sit up, and thus more fluid build up. Vicious circle. My late cousin, the meteorologist I've talked about, lost his wife a little before Daddy died. Then he upped and died last Dec with a sudden cardiac thing. Anyway, due to complication of breast cancer treatment, his wife developed lymphedema. Legs would swell awfully. They kept it under control for years, but it eventually got out of hand. One day she just decided she wasn't going to keep her legs elevated any more, she was sick of it. That was the end. It got so bad she wound up in a *burn center* in Atlanta, due to chemical burns from uric acid build up. I'd never heard of that, and it blew my mind. But her own body fluid was causing chemical burns. She never came home. Infection finally killed her. Her immune system just gave up finally. In the hospital, they've got her on this clever leg compression contraption. It's anti-blood clot primarily, and they used that with me after my knee (and previous hip) replacement surgery. Pneumatic contraption that pumps and releases cyclically, giving a steady squeezing action on the calves. That works like a charm for this, helping mechanically pump the blood out of the legs. I asked if there's any way we can get such a thing for home use. They're looking into it. That would be the ideal thing. I remember reading an article, some time ago, about CVS knew a woman was pregnant before her husband did, or even the wife, I think. Their data guru guy was proud of his statistical analysis tools. It picked up the woman was likely pregnant by her purchasing patterns at CVS, and send targeted ads. They actually do this. Those flyers they mail, or used to (may be more online now), could be personalized, with ads for products tailored to the individual they were sending the flyer too. He was proud of that system, and was bragging about it to some reporter. After the article went out, it creeped people out, of course, and he shut up about it, on orders from HQ. And I'm not surprised. Biden let an Oct. 7 terrorist into the US and gave him permanent resident status: https://is.gd/WzAHuC Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at October 19, 2025 03:21 AM (w6EFb) 342
America initiated the "No Kings" movement in 1776. I'd tell the Commie-Crats that they're 249 years late to the party, but they hate America, reject our nation's founding, and work tirelessly for its demise.
Odd, that so many people supposedly opposed to "tyranny" will happily attend protests organized by totalitarian Communists. Posted by: Sam Adams at October 19, 2025 03:22 AM (X+xvk) 343
Publius,
You can get those machines fir home use. We got one from Amazon. It worked pretty well. There are also compression devices that are easier to put on than the stockings, also through Amazon. I can send you links to what I used, as the doctors didn't help my husband at all. There was also a good website by a person that worked with lymphederma patients. Going back to sleep now, but my email is in my nic. Posted by: Notsothoreau at October 19, 2025 03:35 AM (kUxzU) 344

I was raised in Taft. Should have kept the name Moron. Fun fact, Bank of America branch number 2 was opened there. Was one of the richest oil fields in the world back in the day. Large U.S. Navel petroleum reserve was located nearby. (My father was in charge) Sold to Occidental petroleum during the Clinton administration, with Al Gore leading the charge. Anybody remember what Al Gore's father and senator was called? Answer: the senator from Occidental petroleum.
