Saturday Night Jokes and Other Funnies

Four college guys go on a weekend road trip.

They are having such a good time that they decide to play hooky and skip out on their Monday exam in psychology. They all send their professor an email saying they had a flat tire while out of town and the professor said no problem, unexpected things happen. They could take it on Tuesday.

Celebrating their white lie they had another big night out and headed back on Monday. When they got back on campus Tuesday they went and saw their professor and she asked if they were all right, thanked them for letting her know ahead of time, and told them to get ready for the test.

Inwardly laughing they were separated into four separate rooms so as not to cheat. All four flipped over the sheet and saw only two questions:

Club ONT Department of History

You may know the town of Taft in California, but did you know that Taft was originally the Town of Moron?

From Wikipedia (so caveat emptor):

The town began as Siding Number Two on the Sunset Railroad. According to a display at the West Kern Oil Museum, local residents asked the Southern Pacific Railroad if the station could be named Moro when the rails arrived in about 1900, but a railroad official declined because the name would be too easily confused with the coastal town of Morro Bay. Instead, the railroad directed the station be called Moron, a word which as yet had no association with lack of intelligence. Pictures of local businesses, including the Moron Pharmacy, hang in the museum.
After a fire burned much of the town, the name was changed (in 1909) to Taft in honor of William Howard Taft.

In the chair is a Hawaiian shirt (Jim's standard garment for a MoMe) and a sign which Weasel unveiled. The hangun range at the ranch will forever be a memorial to our brother Jim.

48 I want to throw out a personal thank you to weasel, RI red and Lou for teaching me how to actually shoot a rifle correctly. I sucked but brought them anyway with my wife TCN.-AK. Also, the amount of work that folks put into this is mind-blowing. The range, the setup, the food!!! Is astounding to a first-timer. I’ll admit, it’s a bit hot for one from Alaska, but the conversations were amazing and the operation, run flawlessly. Thank you for being gentle to a first-timer to the Mo-meet. One of the best weekends I’ve had in a long time. Thank you!!!

How is the weather? Quite warm?

We had an unusually early-in-season rain which actually dumped significant snow in the local mountains. I was stooging around up there at the 7000' level yesterday and was surprised how much was up there.

I took pictures - maybe send in and see if they are worthy for inclusion in this august venue...?

When I was in kolledge, my fraternity would take road trips to other chapters. On one such weekend trip I attended what was the wildest party I ever experienced. The entire place was packed with people, back yard, front yard, balconies, every inch of the property jammed with people. And this was a yuuuge house.

I remember meeting a girl there. It was Caroline from Maryland or Mary from Carolina. I will never know for sure, because I could not remember the next day.

102 Most of the wild parties I attended in college were at my apt...ground floor of a century old home. Wall to wall people, many my roommate and I did not know. Music on my stereo, about half of what was pictured below, but good amps and sound. Not a lot of dancing as there was no room.

Because we were classy, there was always a keg in the bathtub with ice. Two lines formed: one for just beer...the fast line.The other for the loo and, I guess, beer. I thought nothing of this as it was a common thing in the late '70's. No beer spilled, no harfing, nothing burned in that rental by miracles...as this was nearly every month.

A cop came once, I think my classmate upstairs called because she had to work the next morning. I blame her. I answered the door, knowing he was watching us for awhile through the picture window on the porch. There was some, uh, smoke.

He looked calmly at me and told us to turn it down a bit. I think he wanted to join us.

Anyway, I have had fun in my life and still do believe it is important to have fun.

I admit I wish we had livestream of this party in Texas. Ben Had and her husband rock.

Floor seats, standing on them, 5th row. My buddies had to hold me to keep me from falling. Security lost control of the upper tiers of the sold out venure. I'd guess 5k people ran down to the floor and tried to crush us. We lived.

As an undergrad, I participated enthusiastically in the Fraternity scene. My frat had a reputation to hold a giant keg party with the first snowfall of the year. And, it was outside, in the woods (just off school property to avoid overzealous law enforcement types). The one year, it lined up on a Friday afternoon, big storm (over 1 ft. of snow), and that night was a school sponsored concert...can't remember the group, but it was someone big. People were in the mood to party....and it ended up being a couple thousand students. The local distributor rented a van to run out kegs and pick up empties, with little down time between trips.

From the little bit of video it was like 98% white, but there was a big variety of ages. Lots of old hippies, but lots of younger people, too. Freshman year I lived in an E shaped dorm known as the E dorm. It was on the street where the shuttle bus to the all-girls college down the hill passed.

One warm spring day some guys (not me!) who were drinking (of course) got the bright idea to moon the shuttle bus as it went by. I wasn't one of them but I was standing next to the photographer. From the little bit of video it was like 98% white, but there was a big variety of ages. Lots of old hippies, but lots of younger people, too. I didn't listen to the audio because I'm still trying to keep my blood pressure under control, and listening to stupidity and lies makes it rise.
I guess there were like 50 protests scattered over Indiana.

Yep! Grand time to be alive and in my prime! No regrets.

It would have been bad enough to see the snow sculpture at my college with my refined Southern mother on any day.

But to witness it about an hour after meeting my future groom was beyond what I have words for! We still laugh about it. At least he was not involved, so there's that good news! He was at the university.

Usually when I suppress a laugh something's gotta give or I'll blow out an ear. Somehow we did not laugh. There was uncomfortable silence for awhile until I tried to distract her. Heaven knows what she thought, and I do think decades later she'd tell me. It was RIGHT THERE next to the college sign, so not in the distance. Perhaps she was so stunned she had a black out.

Ha! I'll never know. She's still alive and is very sharp. Yet denies this moment in time. Which I will never forget.

It IS possible she'd never seen a snow sculpture before, coming from MS. With the two hour time change and adjusting to the altitude (oh, bullsharte!). Maybe she thought it was a Western type snowman?!

I know I needed to have my bf stop the car so I could lie down on the sidewalk and howl with laughter. But we carried on. Keep calm and carry on.

She has a wicked sense of humor, so when I gave her the chance to say anything 30yrs later she truly seemed to not remember.

I know from letters home she saved I drove them insane. They are hysterical. This confirmed what they feared, probably. That their little girl was living in sin in a sinful, snowsculpted world.

Speaking of moons, there was a pretty close conjunction of Jupiter and the Moon early morning Oct. 14 which I missed due to all the trouble with my mother, having to keep close watch on her.

There will be another one next lunation about the same phase, around Nov. 9, but it won't be as close. Moon will be pretty close to Venus this morning right before dawn if interested. It will be getting pretty light by then when they get high enough, but if you're going to be out early, check it out.

225 The biggest rager I ever had was my 21st Birthday. My mom remarked "That's the biggest rock Stadium I've ever seen built" And it wasn't even near my College or Christy's Sorority she attended. It was in one of our farm pastures. Why is it out in the Country, she asked pensively? I told her it was for the sound. I had flown my future Wife Christy's family in to meet the band. They were Hoity-Toity and Keith Moon just blew them off. Later as I was hooking up generators for the show I saw my future Wife Christy reeling in horror as Keith was Vomiting on their expensive luggage. (the horror!!!) During the show, people got confused which horse tank had the kegs in it and which one was the urinal and Chaos ensued!!!! Ted Nugent hit on my GF Christy and I didn't see her for another 4 hours. Her family said she was a good proper girl so I didn't worry about it too much. She was aloof and non-committal for about 3 weeks after that (I think something happened!) Anyway my future (now wife) Christy live in total happiness (for real!) We love our grandkids.

My late cousin, the meteorologist I've talked about, lost his wife a little before Daddy died. Then he upped and died last Dec with a sudden cardiac thing.

Anyway, due to complication of breast cancer treatment, his wife developed lymphedema. Legs would swell awfully. They kept it under control for years, but it eventually got out of hand. One day she just decided she wasn't going to keep her legs elevated any more, she was sick of it. That was the end.

It got so bad she wound up in a *burn center* in Atlanta, due to chemical burns from uric acid build up. I'd never heard of that, and it blew my mind. But her own body fluid was causing chemical burns.

She never came home. Infection finally killed her. Her immune system just gave up finally.

In the hospital, they've got her on this clever leg compression contraption. It's anti-blood clot primarily, and they used that with me after my knee (and previous hip) replacement surgery. Pneumatic contraption that pumps and releases cyclically, giving a steady squeezing action on the calves. That works like a charm for this, helping mechanically pump the blood out of the legs.

I asked if there's any way we can get such a thing for home use. They're looking into it. That would be the ideal thing.

Okay, that's it. I've had enough of this shit. Pick up the stupid phone, and open up chrome. It immediately displays ads for compression shit for the legs.

Now, Miklos gave me that link, which I opened, *on the desktop*. I've got ad blockers, and am not signed on with Google or anything. Avoid those accounts like the plague, but with the stupid phone, it's built in.

So, Chrome here noticed that link I followed, and then logged that information. It knows the phone is associated with the current IP address everything is using.

This shit needs to be nuked from orbit.

Note I didn't use Google search. Just used Chrome for the desktop to open that product link. Chrome had to log that and tell Google about it.

I remember reading an article, some time ago, about CVS knew a woman was pregnant before her husband did, or even the wife, I think.

Their data guru guy was proud of his statistical analysis tools. It picked up the woman was likely pregnant by her purchasing patterns at CVS, and send targeted ads. They actually do this. Those flyers they mail, or used to (may be more online now), could be personalized, with ads for products tailored to the individual they were sending the flyer too.

He was proud of that system, and was bragging about it to some reporter. After the article went out, it creeped people out, of course, and he shut up about it, on orders from HQ. Don't let the peasants know what we're doing.

And they figured out that if they were too good with the ad targeting, it would freak people out (rightly so). If you got a flyer through the mail, and it seemed to know exactly what you needed, that was bad.

So they started using the system to throw a few ads in they knew the customer would NOT want based on the statistical analysis to make it seem less suspicious.

You can get those machines fir home use. We got one from Amazon. It worked pretty well. There are also compression devices that are easier to put on than the stockings, also through Amazon. I can send you links to what I used, as the doctors didn't help my husband at all. There was also a good website by a person that worked with lymphederma patients. Going back to sleep now, but my email is in my nic.
