This is the kind of painting you see on Antiques Roadshow, where someone bought it at a garage sale for $5 because they liked the colors, and their family has teased them about if for many years (insert painting's derisive nickname here), etc.. Then it's appraised as being worth $10's of thousands because it's by some obscure-to-most coastal artist in the '60's and they laugh and laugh about how much he/she will enjoy informing the family that the crap art is not in fact crap art.

He got a woman to pose nekkid sitting in front of him on a pedestal while he sits in his rocking chair. The erect phallic image on the right is his response and that's why there is a line pointing back to the Y shaped thing. There is a full moon in the background, because, as noted the model is naked and her full moon is in the back Finally the big green rectangles are representative of how much money he expects to make off of this painting. If Roberts is trying to get across that life in general and that mankind, his achievements and aspirations are disjointed, bleak, ephemeral and pointless, he succeeded. There is no relief from that in the painting. The artifacts are ruins at best and even the Earth is lifeless.
Fuck that. If the artist believes that, he should end himself and not pass on his nihilism. Art can deal with tragedy, injustice and despair. There are some clips on the Toks about "what ___ sounds like to non____ speakers."
Basically takes the phonetic sounds and spits them out in a string of "words." I had no idea how much English sounds like German to non-English speakers. Spanish, without actual words, sounds like Latin, of course. Related: there is a sorta rule of thumb that, the more one uses the Latin-based English words, the more they are bullshitting. Whereas, the commoners use more of the Germanic-based words that are more direct and simple. "Lie" vs. "misinformation" for example. This isn’t really that hard. She has multiple fraud charges, consistently going back to 2008. She’s having the state of New York pay for her personal fraud defense, so they have to say it’s “political”. They’re using taxpayer money and donations for her defense. I hope she likes prison food. Malcolm Roberts Artist Malcolm Roberts, born Seattle, WA 1913 - died Seattle, WA, 1990. Smithsonian American Art Museum, Transfer from General Services Administration. Date 1937. --- Note: Since it was transferred from GSA, it was commissioned by the federal government. Artvee com: Malcolm McNair Roberts was an American artist. He studied at the Chicago Art Institute, the University of Washington and in Europe. He was credited as Seattle's first Surrealist and exhibited frequently at the Northwest Annuals at the Seattle Art Museum. He produced paintings in oil and gouache for the WPA as well as lithographs. Roberts utilized elements of the northwest landscape in his surreal compositions, especially coast and shoreline related material such as shells, driftwood and beach detritus. Some of his art reflects his homosexual orientation and he was connected romantically with other male artist's including Morris Graves and Guy Anderson. His later work of the 50's and 60's turned away from Surrealism. --- Easily saw the 'pelvis' and thought this artist might be a cousin of Salvador Dali. Would not consider hanging. But, thank you. However, a high silver nitrate content makes black and white film images so vibrant Posted by: JTB at October 14, 2025 10:42 AM (yTvNw) Nitrate can be very unstable, and there are some reports of film reels bursting into flames on their own, but it only happened in bad storage conditions where heat was allowed to build up. A real nitrate print, either first-generation or struck directly from the negative, is an astonishing work of beauty. I read somewhere that high-end movie palaces would occasionally show their films on milk-frosted glass, which gave the images an otherworldly effect. I wish I could remember where I saw that.
