Where It All Went Wrong

Former Bud Light consultant speaks out on how brand lost its way

A former Bud Light consultant behind some of the company’s biggest ads is speaking out about how he feels the brand lost its way and what they can learn from American Eagle’s Sydney Sweeney ad.

John Immesoete, who worked as the Group Creative Director for DDB Chicago 1995-2005, was the force behind some of Bud Light’s iconic spots, including the Real Men of Genius campaign, told Fox News Digital that he attributes the takeover by InBev as a turning point for the brand.

"When InBev took over, they basically acted like they knew everything better than anyone else. They had their own ways of doing things. There was a famous quote they had with some guys in a meeting where they were showing all the work that was done in the past and there were a lot of Clyde sales commercials that were quite famous. Somebody at Inbev had said, ‘tell me this, how do horses help sell beer?’ It's like well, if you don't know, you don't know."

Immesoete, who has just released a documentary "Once There Was a Brewery" which tracks the history of Bud Light and what led up to their catastrophic partnership with Dylan Mulvaney, said the beer company’s success can be attributed to an ethos spearheaded by its co-founder Adolphus Busch that "making friends is our business." He said that by partnering with Mulvaney, a transgender influencer, the brand needlessly alienated many of its fans and much of the country.

***

The beer maker's trouble grew when Bud Light advertising executive Alissa Heinerscheid, who left the company following the disastrous ad, said that Bud Light’s brand was categorized by "fratty, kind of out-of-touch humor" in a 2023 interview. Immesoete said that her comments potentially did more damage than the ad itself.

He feared that the Mulvaney ad may have done irreparable damage to the Bud Light brand.

"I don’t know if they can ever come back from being considered the biggest disaster in marketing advertising history," Immesoete told Fox News Digital.

Immesoete contrasted Bud Light’s Mulvany ad with American Eagle’s Sweeney ad, which saw the buxom blonde actress donning American Eagle Jeans with the slogan "Sydney Sweeney has good genes." This ad also triggered a social media firestorm, but in this instance, Immesoete said the backlash actually helped the brand.

Decent article, worth checking out. Other than referring to Dylan Mulvaney as "her" repeatedly.

14 Least Visited National Parks in the United States

doof-natl-parks.jpg

Most people flock to Yellowstone, Yosemite, or the Grand Canyon, but the least visited national parks offer something just as remarkable: solitude.

Skip the crowds and discover the underrated beauty of coral reefs and mountain peaks.

These lesser-known gems of the National Park Service provide a unique national park experience without the crowds, showcasing pristine wilderness, dramatic landscapes, and rich ecosystems.

Four are in Alaska. Makes sense that they'd be among the least visited. Check out the list and let us know if you've been to any of them!

-----

Here's a plug for one that wasn't on the list.

This National Park Has Some of the Country’s Best Night Sky Views

I become downright euphoric whenever I spot a shooting star, and standing beneath the towering sandstone in Capitol Reef National Park, I spotted dozens of them. It was the last leg of a four-state stargazing road trip—and what a grand finale.

While I imagined I’d love Capitol Reef National Park just as much as the numerous other stops on this adventure through the Southwest, I had no idea the less-trodden getaway would become the trip highlight, not to mention my favorite national park for stargazing.

But perhaps it’s not that surprising. One look at a light pollution map proves that remote Capitol Reef, located in south-central Utah, has impressively little artificial illumination. Skies this pristine are a rarity in the brightly lit United States, where over three-quarters of Americans can’t see the Milky Way from home.

Good Things Come to Those Who Wait

In the 1980s, Anguilla Was Given the .ai Web Domain: Now it’s Making a Killing on the Dot AI Boom

Back when the internet was just starting, nations were all given a URL in order to publish websites official to the nation. The US got .us and the UK got .uk.

Well Anguilla, the small British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean, was given .ai, and with investments and startups surging in the field of artificial intelligence, the country has suddenly found itself with something like a new natural resource—as if it found an oil deposit.

Forever the country has depended on tourism and fishing, but now it sells off the domain rights for .ai for literally millions—$35 million last year to be precise.

Dumb luck. Good for them, though.

11 Hey all. Hey Doof! Nice ONT!

Re the least visited national parks, I believe Death Valley National Park is (or should be) on that list. People don't want to go there because they (correctly) assume it's dangerous to deal with the heat.

On top of that, the park actively *discourages* people from visiting during the hottest months of summer, which are July, August and September. I think even all of the hotels there are closed those months.

71 In re the National Park list:

I'd never even heard of some of those parks, and the ones I am familiar with are all rather remote and hard to get to without making "going to that park in particular" the entire point of the trip. Isle Royale and Dry Tortugas are both only accessible by seaplane or boat and the ferries that run to them are super expensive when I've looked into them.

Great Basin is fairly new, IIRC. From the maps it seems to be a mountain ridge so it looks kinda nice and not-deserty, but it's still out in the middle of nowhere in Nevada, so I'd guess there's not a whole lot in the way of towns/services near it so . . . eh.

74 I had a whole other comment thing I was working on, but now I am distracted by the idea of a new Lifetime movie to be called "Becoming Katie Porter," starring Mike Starr. The problem is that I don't know if Mike Starr can play somebody that obnoxious, at all convincingly. He's played goombahs and toughs and a serial killer, and what not, but I don't remember him ever being anybody just plain unpleasant like that.

So I don't know, but physically he's perfect to play her(?).

Also, "Starring Mike Starr" was fun to say, and I don't normally have a chance to say that, so I wanted to take advantage of this opportunity.

Lifetime movies are still a thing, right? And they're still, you know, dumb like that, right?

Part of it is in Utah, right? People who have never been to the Mountain West don't grok basins. They aren't simple valleys; they are slabs of the Earth's crust that have dropped down due to extensional tectonics. They are bounded by faults on each side, that often continue to be the locii of earthquakes. There is an entire Basin and Range Province of the American Cordillera.

Hamas was weaseling already last night two seconds after the cease fire was signed. They're not sure they can find all the bodies. I say: get back as many hostages as Israel can, then nuke them from space. It's the only way to be sure.

Posted by: Frankie at October 09, 2025 10:13 PM (vLOo6)

I'm a big fan of his early work. Seen a number of his shows up through Lawyers in Love.

I missed a chance to see him at my highschool ... I graduated a few years to early. The school was honoring Craig Doerge (his long time keyboardist, and a member of "The Session" studio session player).

Craig gave a short talk on his career, and mentioned that he'd be happy to play a few tunes, and if the assembly didn't mind he had an accompanist with him, who he thought the assembly would appreciate.

Down lights ... stroll to the waiting piano ... up lights, and there the accompanist was, guitar in hand - Jackson Browne.

It's said that it was quite a show for the student body ...

95 Part of it is in Utah, right? People who have never been to the Mountain West don't grok basins. They aren't simple valleys; they are slabs of the Earth's crust that have dropped down due to extensional tectonics. They are bounded by faults on each side, that often continue to be the locii of earthquakes. There is an entire Basin and Range Province of the American Cordillera.

I've backpacked for a week on Isle Royale. It's a cool place to hike and camp. They do have a hotel/lodge for those that don't want to camp. You could do some short day hikes from the hotel, but you wouldn't see much of the island that way. You could take a boat around and dock at different places and do short hikes. Cars/vehicles are not allowed on the island, and it's not set up for bicycles.

I didn't know there was a hotel there until our ferry docked. We got checked in and while getting our group together we ate our bag lunch before hitting the trail. We had a week of dehydrated food to look forward to and all we could smell was the grill from the hotel wafting our way. Smelled like hamburgers. Gahhh...

102 I had a whole other comment thing I was working on, but now I am distracted by the idea of a new Lifetime movie to be called "Becoming Katie Porter," starring Mike Starr.

So, what about this de Wever fellow?

>>In a 2019 interview with Flemish newspaper De Zondag, De Wever argued that mass immigration was impacting on identity, enlightenment and integration, and that immigrants from Muslim backgrounds were more likely to force their beliefs in public over other religious groups, stating "I have not yet seen an Orthodox Jew who wants a counter function in Antwerp. They avoid conflict. That is the difference. Muslims do claim a place in public space, in education, with their outward signs of faith. That creates tensions"

217 Found a fascinating theory about the peace deal found on X:
Theory: Trump’s Gaza Master Play

1. Hostages released – Trump’s opening gambit: Hamas loses its leverage, and Israel withdraws to a buffer zone—no more urban raids, no more global outrage. Masterstroke: Israel escapes the blame cycle.

2. Demilitarization impossible – each militia clings to weapons for survival, not against Israel but against each other over scarce resources. Trump stays clean; Palestinians fail his plan’s conditions.

3. Aid restricted to cans and water – rubble sits untouched (five years to clear). No order, no infrastructure—only chaos. Trump ensures just enough aid to expose the disorder, not fix it.

4. Militias clash – Islamic Jihad versus clans versus faceless gunmen. No Israeli shells, just hunger-fueled infighting. Trump foresaw it: let survival instincts drive the chaos.

5. Famine narrative collapses – food arrives, but gunfire erupts. The world sees: chaos is Palestinian-made, not Israel’s blockade. Trump wins without saying a word.
(Cont’d)

218 HEY KIDS, DO YOU LIKE STORIES?

I WILL TELL YOU STORIES NOW ...

Posted by: MORE IDIOT THAN SAVANT at October 09, 2025 11:20 PM (o+cID)

219 6. Tribes turn – “Arm us,” they plead to Israel. Trump greenlights weapons for self-defense, not invasion. Gaza’s tribes exact revenge on Hamas, not Israel’s fight.

7. Statehood dream fades – no one who can’t manage a food line can govern a nation. Trump’s silence outshouts protests; Europe abandons the two-state illusion.

8. Evacuation unfolds – no orders, no accusations. Families flee because Gaza is uninhabitable, a kill zone. Trump never said “empty Gaza”; he let desperation prove his point.

Eight moves, zero missteps. Gulf money pocketed, Hamas choked, world awakened—Trump lands exactly where he aimed: Gaza’s relocation as the logical fix, Palestinian violence laid bare, no ethnic-cleansing label.

That Evap system is the ass cancer of pollution crap they put on cars, and person that mandated it needs ball surgery with a rusty soup can lid. Yeah, if you don't need to pass inspection any time soon I would definitely vanquish it for the trip.

I had neglected it for years, after the original charcoal canister had been smashed when the 'burb was rear-ended by a Nissan Pathfinder. Last oil change, I figured "might as well fix this" and grafted in a charcoal canister from a parted-out '98 Chevy 3/4 ton. Had three nipples on the canister, all well-marked, what could go wrong? I will just uncouple the one that goes to the filler neck. The filler neck on this thing narrows down to one inch about a foot below the cap. Weird, that.

Funny Rush trivia. At the age of 21, Niel Pert was working behind the counter of his father's farm machinery parts store. He answered an ad for drummer auditions for Rush. He showed up at the audition driving his mom's Pinto. His future band mates were not impressed...until he started playing. Alex described it as Keith Moon and John Bonham playing at the same time.

One of them did that one time and it pulverized the nut and made it more difficult to get the meat out. When they do 2-4 smaller drops, the meat comes out in 2 equal parts that are easy to enjoy. 304 Walnuts are not super dense. Maybe the drop from the telephone line is enough that they reach terminal velocity, and a higher drop would just take more effort on the part of the crow, and no gain to be had by it.

I have watched crows drop black walnuts from street lamps onto the pavement where cars can run over them.
I used to stomp them open for the crows when I had a chance.

I have a few black walnut trees on the property. The green ball things seem to break just hitting the driveway. I only seem to have one squirrel around here and has a field day with them.

307 National parks, least visited. I have been to four.
Recommend Congaree, like a mini Everglades for the biome nut.
Carlsbad, best cave ever.
Guadelupe, very nice, spent some time with a park ranger who all the time on her hands. Some great history along with nature and hikes.
Cannot understand why North Cascades doesn't get more visitors. Great hikes, lakes, small towns nearby to stay in.
Hoping to do Alaska's parks after I retire.
Dry Tortugas is hard to get to, have to get a boat reservation and they are limited.
Best night sky I have ever seen was in Chaco Canyon, NW New Mexico. Small cities from the time of William the Conqueror. But you have to drive to get back to a hotel because nothing is close. It is a wonder, could have been a national park. It's a national cultural park instead.
We live in a country of natural and human wonders. Let's get out there people! Go on a long weekend instead of watching sports balls.

As I understand it, it means basically many models of "scary black rifles", or "modern sporting rifles", as the case may be.

a) it's stupid performative bullshit from the Liberals
b) most of the guns being "bought back" are from dealers, so the Feds are simply buying and destroying unsold guns. There was some talk of shipping the "buyback's" to Ukraine, but I don't think Ukraine wants them. Not military firearms.
c) I don't own any of the affected guns, and whatever guns I might or might not own are not on any government's radar screen, and I aim to keep it that way.

EPA was easy: an individual could get a "one-time exemption" from meeting current emission standards, just had to apply. Check.

You get a relatively simple expression for distance required to reach a fraction of terminal velocity. You can express that in terms of coefficient of drag and projectile mass.

Douglas Mackay, convicted for a Hillary meme in 2016 the gov't claimed deprived people of their right to vote, has won his appeal.

A U.S. appeals court on Wednesday overturned the conviction of a social media influencer who used Twitter posts that resembled Hillary Clinton ads to spread false information about the 2016 presidential election and help Donald Trump win.

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan said no rational jury could have found that Douglass Mackey knowingly agreed to join a conspiracy to deprive people of their constitutional right to vote.

401 19 Re The Who:

After all these years, I finally heard their original 1965 hit "The Kids Are Alright," only about a week ago.

Wow. Beginning to understand how the Who got their following so fast in the mid-1960s. As always, it seems the more music I explore, the more I enjoy.

That song basically invented power pop. Anyway, I know its not a popular opinion but I think The Who did all their best work BEFORE Tommy. Nobody else was doing that sort of art pop. They kind of ditched that for more conventional rock and go figure they got way more famous and got way more money.

That's great, but can you imagine being an automaker? They have to develop and plan years in advance..it's not like they can tweak the carb for more power or more mileage. Filling out your papers and hiring a lawyer is not a guarantee to residency or citizenship. It's not like getting a library card or your school transcripts. I just read another sob story about a priest who's self-deporting because the backlog for EB-4 visas is CHOKED thanks to BIDEN expanding eligibility for them. Now his current R-1 (also a temporary visa) will expire before his EB-4 application is ever looked at.

So he's (brace yourselves) obeying the terms of his R-1 visa and leaving.

Why is this called "self-deporting"? He's just LEAVING per the terms of his visa.

There's a reference to suicide on that album, 'In A Hand Or A Face'

All the history of a soul in torment
Ingrained in a hand or face
Ain't it funny how they all fire the pistol
At the wrong end of the race

From 'Who Are You':

I woke up in a Soho doorway
A policeman knew my name
He said, "You can go, sleep at home tonight
If you can get up and walk away"
--
I stretched back and I hiccupped
And looked back on my busy day
11 hours in the tin pan
God, there's got to be another way

The 'ho had some of the best lyrics.

432 Speaking of Joshua Tree, Jim Brandon in Weird America notes:

Joshua Tree National Monument Cap Rock, a hundred-foot mound of
quartzite with a huge beretlike boulder perched precariously on its apex,
has become a big cult site for showbiz types and hangers-on from L.A. An
artist named Bernie Leadon has been widely quoted, Castaneda-style:
“Joshua Tree is everybody's power spot." The mystique of the place was
enormously enhanced after September 19, 1973, when the body of country-
western star Gram Parsons was burned alongside Cap Rock in a macabre
cremation ceremony staged by certain of his friends, apparently as part of a
whoever-goes-first pact. Parsons died at age 26 on September 19 while on
a retreat of sorts in the Joshua Tree Motel in the town of that name. Al-
though the official cause of death was given as heart failure, it is widely
believed among those who knew him that Parsons had OD'd on morphine.

The body was removed to Los Angeles for return to Parsons's parents in
New Orleans. Ás the coffin waited on a freight ramp at Los Angeles Inter-
national Airport, two of Gram's buddies drove up and loaded it into an
aged hearse, as unsuspecting police looked on.

Twilight is the shortest around the equinoxes and longest around the solstices pretty much for everybody, but the exact date and length is a complex function of latitude. And it can get sort of crazier close to the artic circles and the tropic lines.

In between the tropics, you have two shortest and longest daylight dates, one longer or shorter than the other, but two local minima and maxima. And then close to arctic circles, twilight never ends for a period around the solstices.
