28 There are two Columbo episodes which subvert the usual formula/structure of the show. I don't think either is a great episode overall, but the subversion in both is great.

The Greg Evigan one was a subversion. I don't want to say more because that would spoil the subversion. (Even knowing there is a subversion spoils it, but just a bit.)

The downside is it messes up the academic schedule since it's now a floating holiday every Fall semester, wandering around the calendar, causing havoc on classes that are taught that week. (This year it's Tues/Thu classes, but next year it will be Mon/Wed/Fri classes.)

Today, I finished tying my quilt. It's the first large quilt I've ever made. Done a few baby crib sized ones but this is slightly bigger than queen size and it's been quite the journey. Next step is the edge binding. Not looking forward to that.

72 Our students where I work don't get Columbus Day off. Curiously, they get the Friday *before* Columbus Day off as "Fall Break." So they still get a three-day weekend.

It used to be a four-day weekend (Thurs/Fri), but when the Governor made Veteran's Day a state holiday, then the students lost the Thursday of Fall Break and gained Veterans Day.

They are stupidly crossing the line from not assisting Feds with actually obstructing Feds. Clinton v NY and Printz v. US were cases where states and local governments cannot be ordered to regulate their citizens on behalf of the Fedgov.

It is not the same as a locality or state trying to actively thwart a federal power by local legislation and naturalization and immigration is a power of Congress solely. Add in the delegation of that power to the president means that LA is moving into unconstitutional obstruction just like their Democrat forefathers did in slavery and segregation eras.
