Trump Says He Won't Just Designate Antifa a Terrorist Organization, But a Foreign Terrorist Organization

And he says again he'll go after the funders of terrorism.

President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he would designate Antifa a foreign terrorist organization after a roundtable on the far-left extremist group with independent journalists, Jack Posobiec, Nick Sortor, and others who have delivered tremendous on-the-ground reporting on Antifa.
While fielding questions from members of the press pool observing the roundtable, one reporter asked Trump if he would designate Antifa, which he has labeled a domestic terrorist group, as a foreign terrorist group.
"Well, has that been done? Pretty close, right? Would you like to see it done," Trump asked, to which Posibeic immediately responded, "Yes, Mr. President."
"They have foreign links all across Western Europe, the Middle East," Posoibec added.
Trump added he would like to take such action, telling Secretary of State Marco Rubio, "We'll take care of it."
When Trump conferred with White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, Miller signed on.
"Yes, it's true. There are extensive foreign ties, and I think that would be a very valid step to take," Miller said.

Posobiec zoomed in on Antifa's existence dating back a century, the messages on the bullet casings of Charlie Kirk's alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson, and the appalling leftist celebration in the aftermath of Kirk's murder.
"Thank you for mentioning the fact that one of the bullet casings read, 'Hey fascist! Catch!' on it. One of the other bullet casings right next to that had 'Bella Ciao' written on it. Now, 'Bella Ciao' is a song that is known in Antifa circles as the international anthem of Antifa," he said.
"And Mr. President, I think the situation is getting worse. When you look at people like Luigi Mangione in his twenties, Thomas Matthew Crooks, of course, who took a shot at you sir, the ICE shooter in Dallas, and now this Tyler Robinson, we're starting to see a pattern of more and more murderous violence," he added.

While Posobiec underscored the resiliency of those present for the roundtable, he voiced his concern that someone at the table could be the next target of the radical left.
"Mr. President, we need to do something about this because I fear that the next one who could be killed could be sitting at this table right now, and we're not going to stop, but they need to stop, and they will not stop until they are stopped," he said.

Yea. It will still take the will to bring the prosecutions, but it's a whole different thing to give money to antifag when you know you could be sent to prison for it. That's why you never hear of any Americans -- not even true commie radicals -- giving money to any foreign terror groups. It ain't worth the risk.

I think it puts pressure on banks that due business with the US (all of them) to not do business with these organizations.

I am not sure it will have much effect in this case though. It also limits their travel, but again, they go through so many cutouts that I do not think it will do much. Every little bit helps though.

I don't think the IRA factions got designated as foreign terror groups until after the Troubles. IIRC, it was their bloody acts at trying to undermine the Good Friday Agreement that got them on the list.

Well, first and foremost, they ARE international. They use different names across the globe, but they are ANTIFA at the base. Secondly, the "foreign" designation enters the US Intelligence community into the fray who, "conceivably" don't operate domestically (even though they do). Also, financing is a big deal not just with foreign actors involvement, but off shore accounts. Foreign countries finance and initiate a lot of their activities. By categorizing ANTIFA as a foreign entity, we can pressure "allies" into cooperation. And, even if we gain ground in the US, they'll just go elsewhere. This has the potential to take away hospitable alternatives.

368 Doing some checking, the legal ramifications of the designation are:

1. It is illegal to provide "material support", which pretty much means debanked, dehoused, cut off from social media, barred from useful education, and no free rides or food. About all they can be given is medicine and religious materials.

2. Aliens are inadmissible and may be deported.

3. Banks have to freeze their funds and report them.

Plus of course being arrested and all that.

369 Antifa leaders are fleeing the country en masse.

What are the ground troops going to think, as they get arrested, of their leaders living snugly in Spain and Sweden?

And how safe are those leaders? I could see many countries deciding they've had enough of their BS and handing them over to the U.S. for prosecution. I could also see those countries also banning antifa - they are hated universally in many countries. It will get harder and harder for these groups to get money to their stateside supporters.
