Restoring Your Faith in Humanity
@HumanityChad

The owner in this shop allows stray dogs to come in when it is dark so that they can spend the nights safely.. He puts blankets to cover the cold tiles so everyone has a comfortable bed...

Thanks to @ComradeArthur.

This is one Cool Dog.

All those years of seeing dogs pee on fire hydrants, and I never realized -- dogs are inviting the hydrants to spray them back.

Dog is a first-rate farmhand.

A couple of strays who look out for each other.

Get a room.

Pigeon wants to be included.

A cat gets pounced... by an emu chick.

This baby elephant really wants to get on the safari bus, but his mom won't let him.

If you think baby elephants are cute, check out this newborn baby elephant. The little clumsy ball of wrinkles can't even stand.

Heroic dog leads police to the location of his mistress, a grandmother who collapsed while walking him.

A loyal dog flagged down cops and helped them rescue a missing grandmother after she fell over during their walk.

The four-legged hero, named Eeyore, led officers with the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office in Florida right to the injured woman.

The police were out looking for the 86-year-old grandmother after receiving a missing persons call at around 10.30pm on September 25, the Miami Herald reported.

Bodycam footage showed the moment Deputy Devon Miller responded to her family's distressed pleas for help.

Her concerned husband told Miller that his wife had failed to return home after walking Eeyore more than an hour ago.

The video showed Miller searching for the missing woman before she spotted the couple's dog in the street.

Eeyore, who is named after the donkey in 'Winnie-the-Pooh', directly approached the patrol car.

'Where's your mama? Show me where your mama is,' Miller could be heard asking.

Deputy Devon Miller was sent out to look for the missing 86-year-old woman when she spotted the dog, named Eeyore

Eeyore then led the deputy through a yard and straight to the injured woman lying on the sidewalk.

Miller radioed the paramedics for the woman, who was 'alert and conscious.'

The injured woman was stunned upon being rescued. As they waited for the paramedics, Miller explained that Eeyore led the way.

'The dog brought you?' the woman asked Miller. 'He wouldn't leave. He kept coming back to me.'

She added: 'I'm not even his owner. I'm his grandmother!'

The injured woman was taken to the hospital for further evaluation, according to the police.

The sheriff's office posted the touching video, writing: 'Sometimes heroes come with four legs and a wagging tail!'

Video below.

I just saw this video as I was finishing the post (which was already called "The Goodest Boy"): Critical Drinker reviews Good Boy, a supernatural horror movie in which the hero is a... dog. And not a CGI cartoon dog either, but a real dog, the director's pet dog, in fact. The movie apparently took 400 days to film, presumably mostly because you need a lot of takes when your main actor is a dog.

But apparently he gets an amazing performance out of him.

I want to see it, as long as there's no Old Yeller ending.

When the president is this volatile and authoritarian, of course we have to be prepared for anything,” Bergstø told the Guardian.

Disagree. Most comedians are filled with self-loathing. Everyone thinks they are happy, telling jokes because they are full of joy, but the majority are miserable, vain, insecure. They tell jokes to cover up their emotional instablity.

Kimmel knows that his career is almost over. He got his big break, and it turns out that he sucks. He's now just playing for time, getting as much dough as he can before he's doing third-tier podcasts and low-rent comedy clubs.

The true story is of course that a Catholic Chaplain went to find Ryan on his own, and how nice for him to be completely erased from history! Lets concoct a totally contrived story instead, chock full of tropes and saccharine sweet sentimentality!

A much better film is "Glory," the the moment when Broderick realizes that he's going to his death is not only visceral, but totally surprising given the actor. No one expected that kind of depth.

A quick review:
Margaret Munnerlyn Mitchell (November 8, 1900 – August 16, 1949), a lifelong resident of Atlanta, Georgia, was an American journalist and novelist who published only one novel in her lifetime. Gone With the Wind (MacMillan, 1936) topped the American fiction best selling lists; earned the National Book Award for Distinguished Fiction in 1936, as well as the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1937; and became a legend in its adaption to film and stage -- particularly the Academy award winning movie produced in 1939 by David Selznick that starred Vivian Leigh and Clark Gable.

Same with the flamethrowers. They were not under pressure. They had training films where they shot them to show that they would not explode, but Spielberg loved his spectacle!

Oh no! That German machine gun could take out a whole company. Let's take it out with our short squad!

Germans are coming... Should we blow the bridge per our orders?
No! Let's defend this bridge until we are all KIA!

Etc.

250 The problem with War films is rewatchability.

As good as Saving Private Ryan is, do you really want to rewatch it.

Now The Dirty Dozen is eminently rewatchable.

Blonde Morticia, I have not read the novel, but it seems to me like the deaths at the end of the film could’ve been handled better.

In the film, we see Scarlett mourning Melanie, but not her daughter. We don’t know how much time has passed between the two deaths, but it doesn’t seem right.

I read it when I was 16 so, uh, 13 years later my memory has dimmed, but I recall that book and movie matched pretty well. The book is sentimental and shallow.

252 Still, I wouldn't say it's surely "the most overrated". There are other candidates. The English Patient, for one, and of course the most overrated movie of my youth, The Graduate. (I've found more and more agree with me about that one now. Back in the day, I was just about alone.)

"The English Patient" is entirely forgotten. No one talks about it, no one references. "The Graduate" is part of Boomer lore, no one else saw it, and anyway, the whole "Milf" thing renders it utterly tame.

[Pour out a glass for the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, who had to find a new brand due to unexpectedly problematic search results.]

"Shaving Private Ryan" continues to get mentions as a great war movie, and it isn't. "Kelly's Heroes" is more realistic and a better movie.

The office I used to work at in Fort Collins CO was on the same block as a home that Hattie McDaniel lived in as a child (not her birthplace). it's even a historical landmark, although it's also a private residence. there are signs that tell people to not peer into the windows, because it's a private home.

256 Braenyard, yup.

Simiar with Chick-Fil-A some years ago. Lefties decided to get loud and cancel CFA. Result: others literally took it upon themselves to eat it 2x/3x as often.

By the end of the year, CFA had posted record profits and was opening stores everywhere. Tee hee! Nice backfire, lefties!

I never ate that until a few years ago one of their locations around 20 miles from me starting hosting a sunday car show/cruise night. A few of us local gear heads decided to roll the cars and go. I went inside and was blown away. The food was better than I thought, and the service was like nothing I ever saw in fast food.

The film ignored Charles Hamilton's son, and Scarlett's indifference to him. It made sense to leave him out of the movie, because it made her look pretty bad and he was always there, lurking, reminding us that Scarlett was a total bitch.

Also her obsession with Ashley was maddening and absolutely spot on in terms of how women operate. Stupid bint has been widwoed twice, finally finds a real man in Rhett, but pines for an inbred pansy who has no discernable life skills.

268 "A Bridge Too Far" has some epic battles scenes. The airdrop/breakout is superb. Love the artillery doing the work and the Germans getting pounded.

The survivors make an ambush, but then *purple smoke* and the cab rank aircraft bomb them to hell.

That's right, both her kids from previous marriages were barely visible, and her sisters got shorter shrift in the movie than in the book.

Also Rhett's obsession with Scarlett was maddening and absolutely spot on in terms of how men operate. Stupid ass has his pick of smart, beautiful women but pines for an all-around bitch with minimal motherly instincts or morals.
