Re that pile of leaves: I always wanted to take a mannequin leg, put a shoe on it, and place it so it's sticking out of the bottom of a pile, like that one. Then, see how people react to it. Do they check to see if there's a real person under there? Posted by: qdpsteve at October 08, 2025 07:27 PM (/p+XQ) 10

Apropos of nothing
During the Arab Revolt in 1917, forces led by Auda ibu Tayi attacked the Turkish-held coastal town of Aqaba on its poorly defended eastern flank. The approach was via a long and wide desert route, passing close to the edge of the Nafud. Colonel T. E. Lawrence asked Auda ibu Tayi to allow their group to stray from their course into the Nafud. Auda refused because it was unnecessary.[2] Their harsh transit did not include entering the Nafud, as is depicted in the film Lawrence of Arabia. Interest but more interesting The discovery of an 85,000-year-old fossilised human finger in An Nafud in 2016 by Dr Mathieu Duval of Griffith University provided the earliest evidence of modern humans outside Africa and the Levant. AH Lloyd, there's a new movie out *right now* about Riefenstahl. It basically claims that she really was a Nazi, and never really changed her POV on that.
But I know that in her old age, if someone even hinted she was a Nazi, she'd melt down. Leni was notorious for contradicting herself constantly, always making excuses, and claiming she was 100% ignorant of what the Nazi party was doing in Germany. Posted by: qdpsteve at October 08, 2025 08:51 PM (/p+XQ) --- At this late date, does it even matter? Germany got bombed flat, lost millions of people and was partitioned. At some point, enough is enough. I find it interesting how contemporaries are often fine with letting enemies go, but later generations are all fired up about KILLING THEM ALL, even though they personally suffered nothing. Like all the wankers wanting to destroy Confederate monuments. I'm sorry, if people who lost friends and fathers and husbands were okay with them, who gives a shit about your precious little feelings? Posted by: Ace-Endorsed Author A.H. Werner resurfaces briefly to wish good tidings to all, and to report my cinematic endeavors. Currently I have a new effort on hand, under the working title "Are You Going to Eat That? The Merry Adventures of Ed Gein America's Favorite Taxidermist and Tanning Enthusiast." But Vern, you say (All do so and I have resigned myself) how is your project different from so many others? My response is simple - it is two words - musical comedy.
Mein Gott, you say. This is unique. We're talking a limited release targeting the critics, and then a wider roll-out where Triumph the Insult Comic gives it the magic it warrants. Streaming, of course, and then on to Broadway and then London's West End. The remains of Klaus Kinski will show up in both the cinematic and stage versions. Wu Tang Clan are on board to deliver their take on Ziggy Stardust, with Peter Denkling playing almost one of the Spiders From Mars. I kind of liked O Brother, Where Art Thou? The basic idea - a comic drama based loosely on The Odyssey, but set in Depression-era Mississippi - was interesting, and I got quite a kick out of the scene where the escapees sneak up on a KKK rally; this was obviously a comic tribute to that scene in the Wizard of Oz where the heroes sneak up on the witch's castle (even down to the choreography of the Klansmen performing a marching routine that mimicked the witch's castle guards) Posted by: Paco at October 08, 2025 09:02 PM (mADJX) 287

Posted by: Mike Hammer, etc., etc. at October 08, 2025 09:48 PM (XeU6L) yeah and hope the hell there is enough gas to get to the next closed station. I keep a plug kit and pump in the saddle bag of the full dresser. The other bikes have spoke wheels, so no help there. A friend of mine rode out to sturgis from jersey on a harley low rider. he went with a dude who was driving a full dresser, who was pushing on to the grand teton after sturgis, which left my friend to travel back from S Dakota alone. Bad move, I warned him. I had done the motor in his bike, but nothing else was new. It had new tires, but he didn't do a new chain or sprockets. He had battery problems and was looking behind closed gas stations for old batteries to get acid from. THEN he lost the teeth on the rear sprocket in ohio, and thank god a couple from PA returning from sturgis with a trailer saw him and took him in for the night and brought him to a dealer to get parts the next day.
