Left Panics As Trump Says He Might Use the Insurrection Act to Crush Anti-ICE/Antifa Terrorism

Axios is so upset!

President Trump suggested Monday he may use the Insurrection Act if courts continue to bar him from deploying the National Guard to cities across the U.S.

Why it matters: Trump would be the first president in more than 60 years to use the 1807 Act that allows the deployment of U.S. troops to quell domestic unrest without state approval.

Trump came close to invoking the Act earlier this year, when he sent some 700 Marines to Los Angeles to respond to ICE protests against the will of California officials.

Driving the news: A federal judge in Oregon temporarily blocked Trump's deployment of the National Guard Sunday evening for the second time, after the president announced plans to send troops from California to Portland.

In addition to California and Oregon suing Trump over his actions, Illinois filed a lawsuit on Monday after he said he was sending 300 members of the National Guard to Chicago.

What they're saying: "So far it hasn't been necessary, but we have an Insurrection Act for a reason," Trump told reporters at the White House on Monday.

"If people were being killed, and courts were holding us up, or governors or mayors were holding us up, sure, I do that."

The bottom line: If Trump were to use the Insurrection Act, the National Guard would be allowed the full law enforcement powers of local police officers.

The left is freaking out because, among other things, the Insurrection Act would strip power from left-wing judges to issue lawless rulings.

Why it matters: Trump's deployment of National Guard troops to several cities have been slowed or temporarily blocked by judges. The Insurrection Act would help him effectively bypass the court rulings by tapping authority scholars have warned is overly broad and ripe for misuse.

Trump is also talking about the possibility of throwing Race Marxist and DEI Dum-Dum Brandon Johnson in prison.

Chicago is a sanctuary city and has seen its mayor declare "ICE-free zones" this week as Immigration and Customs Enforcement attempt to remove illegal aliens from the area.

"Chicago Mayor should be in jail for failing to protect Ice Officers! Governor Pritzker also!" Trump posted on Truth Social.

Morbidly Obese Antifa Sturnkommandant JB Pritzker ordered his police not to cooperate with ICE, citing his nonexistent "sovereign" right to ignore federal law. I saw a Xeet calling him "Heifferson Davis."

I think Brandon's approval rating is approaching if it has not breached single digits among citizens in Chicago. He is owned by the Chicago Teachers union and if the illegals kids go, then their phony jobs do too. So he is doubling down to protect his only remaining constituency.

Spent the weekend in Chicago; found out the front entrance to a 6 condo building we were in was smashed open this summer.

My daughter dismissed this as kids stealing packages. I found her tolerance disturbing.

But the Senate is the center of corruption in Congress because of rules there were never supposed to permanently block any legislation being passed. Culture in the old Senate before the latest iteration of rule changes in the 70's was that the filibuster was only used for existential opposition to legislation, not routine bills. The old talking filibuster incentivized this approach (and apparently can still be employed without the nuke change in rules according to CRS).

That's the core problem.

No one seemed to have any idea about Pacino's character. He's a cipher, but he's also the key protagonist who could be the killer.

It's an attempt at experimentation, but Friedkin was simply not good enough of a storyteller to break rules like he tries to there. Hitchcock could have pulled it off. Maybe even DePalma (Dressed to Kill could be his Cruising).

But Friedkin? Director of one of the best movies ever, The Exorcist? He honestly didn't have the chops.

So what is your plan and how would it diverge from what Trump is pushing?

Israel has three choices--one is occupation which it tried for decades and it failed, two is trying to remove all Gazans from Gaza which is hard when no country wants them or will take them, three is a punitive expedition where you go in, crush Ham Ass, and return to your borders knowing they will reconstitute themselves within a generation.

I take it you don't favor the Biblical extermination mode which will produce such aftershocks that even South African isolation will seem tame if not an instant general Middle Eastern war.

So Trump is trying an outside the box solution--making the Gazan strip so wealthy that they don't want to fight and using Arab money to do it.

It failed in Lebanon due in part to Syria in the 1950's to 70's but it might work in Gaza where other approaches have failed.

And of course the major reason why not bothering to deport most illegals (or force them to self-deport, by preventing employment) will be a disaster (will be - there's little doubt this what we're about to see) is that, obviously, it sets the stage for the next mass invasion.

Illegal migrants are rational actors. If it works, they'll do it. The border vaporizes in 1 day the next time a Dem is in the WH. It'll be 10X worse than what we just went through. And it's almost certainly coming, guaranteed if max effort is not made to deport non-criminals.

I really wish I could see mine, which were a stack of index cards with the principal. Frequent infractions such as being late for class, talking in class, really rough stuff like that. The worst was being in the Beta Club photo, as the guy I briefly dated wanted me to be in it with him. One of my friends on the yearbook staff ratted me out (and later apologized) and I had to pay for another photo. It was too bad as I looked really good in that one and it raised the bar for the club.

I learned decades later that my father knew the principal in elementary school. While I can't picture my father being a mean bully, perhaps the gang he hung out with were and bullied the fat man. All I know is he never called my parents about their wayward daughter...but he did tell me I'd never amount to anything, have a job, and not to use the HS as a job reference. Like I would have? Wut?

For some reason he did not faze me, as I knew HS was not going to be my life.
