While scouring the world for factual information on penguins, I came across a web site that claims to have 69 wonderful facts about penguins. The first wonderful fact about penguins they list is:
"The world's second-largest colony of emperor penguins has nearly disappeared after changes in sea/ice conditions made their breeding ground unstable. The species might lose anywhere between 50% and 70% of its global population by the end of this century." This trend points to a wonderful future, unfouled by a maraudering mephitic menace. Evening, cafe habitues,
(I don't get to use that word often) Been watching the early episodes of the original 2000 CSI show. It's refreshing that the lead characters are not only good-looking but also smart and proud of it, not depicted as autistic or as having Asperger's, and that the mysteries often feature the Ellery Queen "false solution, then the true" trope. As I recall, when it premiered, TV Guide did not think it was going to be a hit or even last long. They said the same thing about Criminal Minds and Friends, too. Good comment. I love "little known facts."

Winsome Sears has positioned herself as a MAGA-aligned Republican, having served as national chairwoman of Black Americans to Re-elect the President during Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign. However, their relationship has been complex—she once said Trump should not run again, and as of early October 2025, Trump has not endorsed her, raising concerns among some Republicans about her campaign’s viability.
Her campaign has faced challenges, including staff shakeups, controversial statements—such as comparing DEI initiatives to slavery—and criticism over her response to federal workforce cuts tied to DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency), which have hurt her standing in Northern Virginia, a region with many federal employees. _Brave AI Posted by: Braenyard - some Absent Friends are more equal than others _ asd at October 07, 2025 08:35 PM (z/oz4) Posted by: Anna Puma at October 07, 2025 08:36 PM (w6y5s) 128

It's Montana, so of course some of the police on campus for the TPUSA event are on horseback. They have lassos. I kinda hope someone gets out of line and they hogtie them!
Only saw one protestor. And the only reason I realized she/zir was a protestor was she wore a spirit Halloween handmaids tale red robe. She was being interviewed by someone on camera. A few cameras around interviewing people decked in MAGA gear too. Bozeman is a gorgeous area! Glad I had an excuse to do a pretty fall road trip today. How is this shyte still going on? Students for Fair Admissions filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida challenging the U.S. Coast Guard’s College Student Pre-Commissioning Initiative, a scholarship-to-commissioning program that bars most students from applying solely because of the racial composition of their colleges. Under the program, students may apply only if they attend a federally designated Minority-Serving Institution or a campus where fewer than half of students are white. ----- How is SecWar letting this happen? publius,
Astrophotography is not just a matter of acquiring hardware and getting it all working together There is a lot of image processing knowledge needed and those programs can take multiple hours at a time to run just to vary one setting. You are correct about the cost factor being lower but there much more of that that goes into these photos. It's not like a smartphone that does all the processing for you, there is a rather complicated workflow involved. Anyone wanting to take a deeper dive into astrophotography should check out the forums at cloudynights.com Posted by: pawn at October 07, 2025 09:40 PM (9kses) 231

Vivek answered a question about Candace and what he thinks of her recent thoughts that conflict against Charlie's beliefs. Two questions on mental health. A good one about Israel, and he said since today is Oct. 7, he wants to focus on remembering today vs arguing. Lots of thoughts of how to help Gen z get out of debt and begin building their American dream.
He also mentioned h1b visas. He said he approves the raising of the visa costs. But he said American kids are 4 years behind Chinese kids and we need to raise the standards. He made a pledge for when he runs for governor next year, something that will be part of his platform. If you can't read by 3rd grade, every kid in Ohio can't graduate to 4th until they can read. His wife is pregnant with a little girl, in the first trimester. So he'll have three kids. Oh, a kid is asking about his Hindu religion as polytheistic and how that squares with Charlienbeing a monotheistic Christian.
Vivek describes his Hindu faith as "ethical monotheistic," and says he is not running for Ohio pastor, he's running for governor. But that the trinity isn't polytheistic either, and there's nuance with his religion the kid is missing. This was actually a really good back and forth dialogue. The kid didn't do his homework, and he's nervous, but Vivek is being really respectful. Worth seeing. Vivek is doing a really good job of capturing the spirit of what Charlie wanted these to be! He's doing a great job. He said second to his faith and family, he has a third thing that's important. He had the kid come up and gave him a pocket constitution and read the part of no religious litmus tests. Posted by: LizLem at October 07, 2025 10:00 PM (Dka2/) 248
