Machado is a good egg (which she proved in her acceptance comments). But, more than that, she's fearless. She is confined to the country, unable to travel abroad. She is constantly under the threat of death. And, yet she's still plugging away after having won the primary of the opposition party. Sorry for your loss. My brother would tell me "if anything ever happens to me you better get to the house lightning fast and clean my shit out, because she'll (his wife) will throw it out. I thought he was semi joking. He doesn't have junk. A small stash of nice guitars, a shit ton of tools, some other things, etc. Not a lot of stuff as a whole. To her everything is junk in her perfect little world. A few months ago she was saying what do I do with this stuff if anything happens to you (my brother). I said thats a not a problem, give me 2 days and would be like he was never here. She looks at me and says well thats my stuff too. I said well what would you do? She says, I would throw it out. (??!) I looked at my brother and he gave a look that could cut a diamond, as if to say, when I said get your ass here I fucking meant it. I can see a problem on the horizon. I told him "dude, you better update your will."

103 I've been watching a series of YouTube videos about captured Axis soldiers sent to the US. Their propaganda told them to expect harsh treatment and starvation. They believed it right up until that first plate of bacon and eggs and hot coffee. The US abundance broke their spirits and made them question everything they were told.

I know we treated them well because we hoped they in turn would treat our boys well, which they really didn't. But simple things like food, hot showers and guards that were strict but not brutal broke them all.

His neighbors accused him of being in the Bund. My grandmother never let German be spoken in the home. My dad didn't know any German.

Officers went out of the camp on Sundays to church and went home with church families for Sunday dinner. They got deported to Germany after the war, but many came back as soon as they could. More BMW's built in SC than Deutschland.

192 My mother's grandfather, on the NON-Prussian side, was Adolphe. He was known to all as "Duffy." But he died before it was an issue.

Both my grandfathers, one from a Brandenburger family and one Pomeranian, wore the toothbrush mustache right through WWII. Nobody was going to tell them what to do with their mustaches. Between them, two tankers, two infantrymen, a cruiser sailor and a flyboy.

The toothbrush began as an American style. It was copied by fashionable young Germans.
