MILO@Nero Nothing of Jordan Peterson remains in today’s discourse—no concepts, theories, frameworks, habits, phrases or styles—because he had nothing, gave nothing, was nothing. Useless Knowledge:
Several years ago, they released a liqueur aimed to knock Jagermeister of its perch as the Legendary King of "Take Shots Till You Puke" Liqueur called "Harlem". It sort of tastes like Jager but with a root beer/citrus vibe. It was pretty good. Anyway, Harlem did not win and Jager still reigns supreme. I don't see it in stores anymore, but it still apparently available if you search it out. Check it out if that sort of thing appeals to you. Speaking of horror movies... We saw "Good Boy" this week. Very well done. "Indy" makes a great star and is a very good boy. The story concerns a dog and his owner that move into his grandfather's old rundown house which turns out to be haunted. Indy tries to understand what is going on with his new environment and protect his owner. I don't want to over sell the movie as it is a very good but not great movie. It's a slow burn style movie that wants to creep you out and builds to a nice climax. Also, it's about 80 or so minutes long so "Good Boy" doesn't over stay its welcome. If you go, which I recommend, be sure to stay after the credits as there's a fun short five or so minute feature about how they made "Good Boy". On Sunday, Trump said "We have to take care of this little gnat that's on our shoulder called the Democrats." So, it's like Trump is using language of Democrats as insects (Obviously, saying they should be killed like bugs!) Needless to say, this is "unprecedented". However, the context is the shutdown. That's what "taker care" means. Trump said that he wanted to boost the servicemen's' pay, but couldn't do that until Congress was back in session, and then he said that "take care" line. Given that Dems, in speaking during shutdown disputes have called the Republicans "vampires" and "terrorists", gnats is tame. (Grok even confirmed that.) But anyway that's the "violent speech on the Right" for now. They have to walk down to a corner and down and alley way to get that, but they get there. Have any of you suffered through the pathetic boomer libs croaking out "this land is your land" at the Portland protest?
If this land is my land, the wetbacks can catch the F out. Posted by: rickb223 at October 07, 2025 10:56 AM (9loYT) We PAID for and fought and died for this land. This land is OUR f*cking land. Last time my father's country music did anything I just sat there counting flowers on the wall.

Metal is an interesting musical experience as far as some of the artistry and musicianship necessary to play it. Resembles classical music in that way.
But I find a lot of the lyrics as underwhelming and sometimes distasteful. Sort of like how I can like the musical part of opera but loathe operatic singing as forced and unnatural. Posted by: whig at October 07, 2025 10:54 AM (WDjG6) Wrong metal, most of the lyrics are pretty well done. You need to paint big mindscapes with few words. Some metal bands definitely don't have the knack for lyrics, but most are pretty good. Posted by: Berserker-Dragonheads Division at October 07, 2025 10:58 AM (snZF9) 267
I admit to having a weakness for some of the "countrypolitan" music like Jim Reeves, late Patsy Cline, Charley Pride and so on.

So, it's like Trump is using language of Democrats as insects (Obviously, saying they should be killed like bugs!) Needless to say, this is "unprecedented".
I'm good with that. Posted by: rickb223 at October 07, 2025 10:55 AM (9loYT) --- Be fine with that. The important thing to me is that they are wrong and demonstrate their lack of understanding context. Posted by: Axeman at October 07, 2025 10:59 AM (krQz2) 269
I'm happy with my Grandfather's and my father's country. Channel 61 SiriusXM Willie's Roadhouse.
Classic Country. F that new age bs. Posted by: rickb223 ===== I think a lot of kids are recognizing that the current music scene regardless of which genre is pretty vile and inauthentic. Some kids are turning away from the mass market pap that our infotainment industry serves up and looking for the authenticity of past music. It's does seem to help a number of folks to know that people are praying for them. It is so important .
It always throws me for a loop when someone mentions praying for me. It isn't that I don't appreciate it - I do, very much - it's just something so out of my cynical worldview that sometimes I need to be dope-slapped with a reminder such as that. The fucking Prickster:
--- JB Pritzker on Sec. Kristi Noem: "She needs to get out. Grow up. She's the one cosplaying a social media influencer… She's in fact… causing problems. ICE officials are the ones causing the problems they are now asking for help to deal with." --- HELP?! Oh, yeah--just asking that your citizens not try to assault them--that's just too needy for The Prickster. Posted by: Axeman at October 07, 2025 11:02 AM (krQz2) 276
Zach Bryan is a tranny lover so no surprise he’s an illegal alien supporter. Eh. Whatevs. It’s not like there aren’t a 100 other “country” singers out there to listen to.
Posted by: Its Go Time Donald at October 07, 2025 10:35 AM (wrRTB) I don't listen to Top 40 country, so I have probably never heard his shit, nor could I pick him out of a police lineup. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at October 07, 2025 11:02 AM (Nzhwp) 277
My Dad also liked Country so naturally I hated it.
Now I'm coming back around. I'm better able to appreciate storytelling in song maybe. George Strait, Clint Black, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith, Vince Gill, Hank Williams jr and sr, Waylon Jennings, Conway Twitty even. And the biggest and best, Mister Johnny Cash. Man he really gets to me. And some female artists too, Reba, Dolly Patsy, Faith, Carrie...and I appreciate....stuff about Shania. Damn that girl had ass... The citizenship status of all Wisconsin voters must be verified before the next statewide election in February, a Waukesha County judge has ordered. The ruling from Waukesha County Circuit Judge Michael Maxwell requires the Wisconsin Elections Commission to review the state's voter rolls over the next five months to determine whether anyone who is not a U.S. citizen is registered to vote.
Posted by: SMOD at October 07, 2025 10:56 AM (RHGPo) This is good I suppose because it sets a precedent. But what is the verification? When I registered to vote it asked are you a citizen? I said yes. And that was that. No proof was needed. I’m not in WI but I assume every state is like this. Unless every voter had to show up with a passport in hand or birth certificate, to verify citizenship, I don’t see how this does anything.
