Anti-Woke Dissident Liberal to Join CBS as Editor-in-Chief of News

Is she a conservative? Nah, son, she's a lesbian who can't go three seconds without mentioning that she's married to a woman. She's probably further to the left, ideologically, than Hillary Clinton.

But she's been against leftwing censorship consistently. She does recognize the threat of establishment liberals using force and coercion to impose their bizarre anti-factual conspiracy-theory demonic ideology on a population who hates it.

She herself was purged from the New York Times. Google's Woke Satanic AI insists to me she wasn't "purged" at all, merely forced to resign by the entire newsroom bullying her over her "centrist positions."

Bari Weiss was not purged from The New York Times; she resigned in July 2020 after alleging that the newspaper fostered a "hostile work environment" where she was bullied by colleagues for her centrist viewpoints. Her resignation followed a period of internal turmoil, including the controversy over an op-ed by Senator Tom Cotton.

Well that's nothing at all like a purge, is it?

The most egregious, hateful part of current leftist ideology is their insistence that they will weaponize all the institutional power they've acquired through decades of the Long March Through the Institutions, purging conservatives and then moderates and forever recruiting and promoting ever-harder-left ideologues, to compel everyone outside the Demonic Church of the Left to comply or die.

At least she opposes that.

This is a sea change at the ultra-left propaganda network CBS. Yes, Bari Weiss is just a liberal.

But she's not a power-craving "shitlib" like all of the establishment fascist leftists are.

Paramount Skydance is poised to name Bari Weiss as editor in chief of CBS News in the coming days -- giving the hard-charging journalist unusual clout to revamp the struggling network as it also acquires her scrappy news site the Free Press, The Post has learned.
Weiss -- a 41-year-old former New York Times opinion writer who has built the Free Press into a buzzworthy site with a contrarian bent -- is expected to be named to the top post in a Monday announcement, although the talks are in flux and the timing could change, a source close to the situation said.
In a remarkable reshuffle of CBS News' decades-old management structure, Weiss will report directly to Paramount Skydance Chief Executive David Ellison as she helps set the editorial direction at the Tiffany Network's third-place news division, a source close to the situation said.

Weiss's direct line to Ellison means she will not report to CBS News president Tom Cibrowski, who currently reports to George Cheeks, chair of TV media at Paramount Skydance. No further details could be immediately learned about how Weiss would work with Cibrowski.
Insiders said the hiring of Weiss casts doubts on speculation about the possible return of former CBS President David Rhodes to the network, with one source saying their job candidacies were an "either/or" situation.

That's Ben Rhodes' brother, a man whom establishment country-club Republicans like Brit Hume exist is "moderate." Moderate, but presiding, somehow, over a hard-left antifa propaganda operation.

Sources told The Post that Weiss could be a strong counterpart to Cibrowski, a former "Good Morning America" executive who is regarded more as a production wizard than a journalist.
Others said they expect it will only be a matter of time before Weiss -- who has emerged as a leading voice against antisemitism and the "woke" elites in mainstream media -- zeroes in on Cibrowski's job.
"Bari is extremely ambitious. Tom had better watch out," a source close to both parties said.

The far left -- by which I mean "The Democrat Party" -- is fuming.

Puck News reported the move "would inevitably inspire blowback from various corners of the newsroom," but not everyone at CBS News was alarmed.
"Maybe more free thought, free expression is on the way. Nothing to fear here," one CBS News staffer told Fox News Digital in September.
Left-wing commentators, however, fumed at the idea, claiming that hiring "one of the most polarizing figures in media" would only further erode media trust and amount to a "right-wing grift."
Weiss, a classical liberal who famously exited The New York Times in 2020 after bullying from far-left colleagues, has largely been ostracized by the cultural left for The Free Press' reporting that challenges DEI, gender ideology and media narratives against Israel during its ongoing war with Hamas.

BTW, Weiss is reportedly being paid $150 million in cash and stock for her start-up webzine the Free Press. Previous reports said $100-200 million and darnit if it didn't turn out to be right in the middle.

I disagree. It is one of the oldest towns in Texas and was instrumental in the early development. There must be close to 50 historical markers around town, has one the biggest and oldest oak trees in the state and it has Schobel's restaurant. The pecan pie is the first dessert to be chosen at the end of the serving line.

I stopped watching primetime news a very long time ago and only held out for redeye which was more my style. When that ended I never watched another news show again.

Even the thought of it sounds weird, "so, like I'm just supposed to sit here and watch some idiot read the stuff I could pull up and read myself?".

Even with "The Five", or Gutfield or whatever it's called now I just can't imagine myself even firing up a tv to watch it let alone going online for it. I think sturgis forever ruined Mrs B on camping. We camped the first 3 years. It was hotels after that, she was done with it. I don't think she would mind a nice camper though, as long as it had a good water supply and a shower that wasn't so small that you have to go outside to change your mind.

One thing Ol' Bar could do that would instantly gain CBS News some credibility is to stop conflating opinion/editorials with the News.

Report the news as factually as possible, straight down the middle.

Then if the news readers go into opinion mode, have a bright red, flashing Script onscreen that reads "OPINION - Not News"

Or, I suppose they could have a flashing chiron that reads something like - "Dolly Sue Heffalump's Opinion Minute".

Anyway, the most important thing is to create a distinct wall between News and Opinion blabbering.
