Gallup: Trust In the Demonic Democrat-Antifa Media Hits All-Time Low; 70% of Public Has Little Or No Trust in the "Press"
The numbers are boosted by the older generation, of which 43% still say they trust the media. This accounts for the sudden shift of older people to the Democrats (or perhaps their shift to the Democrats accounts for their bizarre belief that Jake Tapper and Brian Stelter are giving them the straight news).That 8% are Bulwark and Dispatch staffers. Americans' trust in the media has slumped to an all-time low, according to a Gallup survey released Thursday. Nearly seven in ten Americans say they don't trust the press -- a finding underscored by recent controversies over coverage of the Charlie Kirk assassination and the murder of a Ukrainian on a light rail in North Carolina. Just 28% of Americans say they have a "great deal" or "fair amount" of confidence in newspapers, television, and radio to report the news "fully, accurately and fairly" compared to 31% last year, according to a Gallup survey released Thursday. By contrast, 34% say they have no trust at all, and another 36% say they have "not very much" confidence. Confidence in the media breaks sharply along party lines. Republican trust in the media has fallen to 8%, the first time it has dropped into single digits.
Among Democrats, the numbers are down to 51% who have a great or fair amount of trust in the media. Only 9% say they have no trust. The Independents are more evenly divided, with 27% expressing trust and 32% reporting none at all. ... Trust in the media also shows a clear generational divide that has widened over the past decade, according to three-year aggregated data. From 2023 to 2025, 43% of adults 65 and older said they trust the media, compared with no more than 28% in any younger age group, Gallup found. ... Despite the growing trend of left-wing extremist violence, between Jan. 21 and June 21, news outlets such as CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, and PBS used labels such as "far right" 1,222 times compared with just 86 mentions of "far left" or similar labels, according to the Media Research Center. Moreover, corporate media outlets largely ignored the stabbing death of 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska in Charlotte, North Carolina, for several days, despite news of the brutal incident going viral on social media, a Daily Caller News Foundation review found in September. CNN also faced criticism for appearing to downplay anti-fascist messages found on ammunition near the site of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk's assassination, referring to the markings as "a range of phrases related to cultural issues."

2. Do you trust the press NOT to omit key facts on a story?
3. Do you trust that the press reports the news objectively consistently?
4. Do you trust the media not to editorialize hard news events?
5. Do you trust the media to report all newsworthy events regardless of who is involved?

Cal has no pipelines - thanks Demonrats. I have a good friend who used to work at that El Secundo refinery - he told me that he has friends who still work there. His estimate was that CA gas would go to $10.00 gal without that refinery. Remember CA has special gas due to its higher environmental requirements than the rest of the country. Two other refineries in the state are due to go offline in a few months due to CA government rulings. The only large scale ways to get gas into CA are rail and by ship.

There's another aspect to a refinery being taken down by fire. Currently, there is a slight push to switch over refineries to process sweet, light crude. Primarily, at present we are set up mostly for heavy crude. The switch over is very expensive and not economically sound...unless you could pass those costs over to your insurance (and re-insurance carriers). They'd even have down time coverage for lost revenue during the build back.
With the large increase in domestic drilling we are starting to see a significant increase in light sweet crude available for processing, with no where to refine it at the necessary rate.
Also, keep your eyes on the EV's manufacturers. GM recently had a whole warehouse of unneeded EV cell batteries go up in a fire and shut down their luxury EV vehicle manufacturing factory for a time. As a cynic, I'd be looking at the insurance available for such an event and looking for accelerants.

Unlike our educational establishment, you have to do the work in reading before you can actually evaluate evidence and arguments. Sort of like how math requires drudgery until you understand the basic steps. Then you can apply shortcuts.

Speaking of terrible movies, last night I watched ... Bride Hard. The basic premise of "Die Hard at a wedding" had promise. But holy shit did they fuck the pig on execution. Comically bad casting, dumb and coma-lazy script, and scenes that looked like they were from an earlier version of the movie with a different plot.

Nope, by myself. The preview looked decent. The girls I date are surprisingly into very odd movies given their demographic. I got requests for Alphaville, Metropolis, the original Nosferatu, dozens of bloody horror movies, and vulgar comedy like Wayans Bros. Not what I would have expected.

However, recently I've heard the counter that this is only a footnote in Popper. And you can't blame him for what he didn't have the time to flesh out (which he may or may not have failed at, mind you). And this seems reasonable.
But what Marcuse gets from Popper's footnote is that by tolerating the "intolerant" you are not promoting tolerance. So the "paradox" is that you have to be "intolerant of the intolerant".
Thus, Marcuse's plan suggests cracking down on the speech of the "intolerant", and that such was necessary for a "tolerant society".

Having retired from academia, I saw how Marcuse and others from that school started out as a semi joke then something to be taken serious, and now as accepted academic paradigm. Basically, because academia is run like a guild system--those on the outside identified one another at conferences and acted as a cohesive force to create their own networks and seniority to the point of capturing academic heights in social science disciplines. Deconstructionism started in literature in the 60's and 70's because English departments new profs despised teaching the same old thing and worse, competence in writing.
From that acorn, it spread to other disciplines merging with the old economic commies and the Gramscians as a way to institute a long march through academia.

Looking through the history now, I don't see anything about it.
I know that the Girl Bombs, Bava's movie, had two separate versions (an American one and an Italian one) that were materially different from each other. I watched both, actually. The American version has more Vincent Price, and the Italian version has more of a pair of Italian comedians. Bava directed it all, but he had little to nothing to do with post on the American version.

One of the two victims who died in the synagogue attack in Manchester, UK was shot dead by police, with the other victim killed by suspect. In fact, the police were the only ones with guns at the incident.
The suspect, Jihad al-Shamie, rammed a vehicle into a crowd of people gathered outside the synagogue, striking several individuals. He then exited the car and stabbed at least one person before attempting to enter the building. Um. Antifa in Charlotte is a case to the contrary.
Unite the Right (yech) had a permit to stage their rally. A number of them came there with something like riot gear. Knowing full well that antifa was coming with riot gear.
One off-his-meds young man driving his car into another and a young lady falling to her death while dancing to a celebration of WHO OWNED THE STREETS is all anybody remembers about that clash. Except for the "WHOSE STREETS? OUR STREETS" cheer that the media never mentions.
UtR had the permit but a violent clash results in "Antifa" claiming to own the streets.
They're the victims, despite that there would have been no Charlotte had somebody not come to counter protest.
