Years back, in 2013, as part of the marketing campaign for the little-regarded Carrie remake, a company staged a viral marketing prank in a coffee shop. They rigged the shop with simple (but effective) practical special effects, induced a bunch of marks to enter the shop for a free coffee, and then had a "telekinetic girl" go crazy and start wrecking shop. The movie might have been lame, but the marketing was great. If you somehow missed this gem, check it out here. Below: They also staged the same basic prank in Brazil to market the movie there. This is probably new to you. The beginning is like the NY prank, but the ending features more pyrotechnics.

I'm not sure, but your question reminds me of some unique punctuation I came across years ago. I was reading something by William Faulkner - might have been Old Man or maybe one of the Snopes novels, not sure - and right in the middle of a paragraph, Faulkner opened a parenthesis and began writing sentences that eventually resulted in the parenthetical prose requiring its own new paragraph. Only time I think I ever saw something like that.

Depends on what you mean by a ghost I suppose. I have had three encounters that, if they weren't dream or hallucination, were arguably paranormal. Long time ago. Two were dark oppressive figures looming over my bed, another was swirling darkness coming down the hallway. One could possibly be explained as a night terror, but I'm not so sure about the other two.

A 60-year-old Missouri man was found dead near his campsite in Arkansas with “extensive injuries” consistent with a bear attack, authorities said.

IMAO, some ghosts are merely the energy associated with a certain place, usually bloody and grisly. Something about the energy of terror lasting longer than it takes to die. Or the ghosts of those who died violently and suddenly, unsure of what happened to themselves. Then there are those ghost units at Gettysburg which linger together, marching in moonlight.

We used to have "mooky spoovie" (spooky movie) time on Saturdays when I was a kid. I saw lots of the old Bs, some of which I recognized in that compilation.
And some of those movies delved into serious psychological horror!
The Mole People -- live underground all your life then burn yourself to death by stepping into the sun as a sacrifice.
The Brain That Wouldn't Die -- crazy doctor's beautiful fiance is horribly injured in a wreck, he keeps her head alive in a dish and goes hunting for a body to attach to it, gets undone by a humanoid he assembled from spare parts that he keeps locked up, the cops come (pretty sure they show up to shake their head at the smoking ruins), and fiance utters the last words of the movie: "Beh. Ree. Me." (bury me)

I would say I'm a non believer in ghosts.
I've had some weird things happen in my 100 year old house. A pair of french doors in a guest room, that were locked and bolted, I would walk by and the doors would be open, not unlocked, open. No one had gone in there and this happened about 10 times and a cattle type gate opened itself on camera at 2 am. I told myself the bolt wasn't thrown, but, I know if it's not bolted it will swing open on its own.
A friend was visiting with their brother Catholic Priest and he blessed my house and I brought him to those areas and he prayed with me and blessed everything and I've had no problems since then.
I'm sure there's a simple explanation but I've got nothing.

Einstein suggests that time is not linear, but past, present and future can exist at the same point. I think it's called Block theory...intwined with the theory of relativity. Time is, in fact, relative. Therefore, voices, "apparitions", electronic recordings...are, in fact, actual people and the window between these dimensions is somewhat fleeting for some reason. Can you communicate with these "ghosts?" Depends. Can they see you as you see them....hear you as you hear them? Sometimes yes. Sometimes no.

The whole point of Job is that he was not punished for any sin.
The whole point about Job is he was a man who put skin in the game, and was not a passive harrumpher.
Elihu who comes the closest to getting things right, doesn't merit a mention from the Lord, because he's right, but no skin in the game.
The book very clearly shows that Job did not run away from misfortune of others, and perhaps this is why the Lord regarded him as He did.

I knew a guy who spent 50 years battling demons. It was a constant in his life, and when people saw him in the middle of one of his struggles, it was easy to label him
He insisted he wasn't mentally ill, that his fight was real, and when he died, he expected God's reward to be waiting for him, for his loyal service.
He died a few years ago.
I hope he was right.

There's a movie called Nefarious which came out in 2023 about a psychiatrist who is charged with the responsibility for determining whether a prison inmate on death row, who claims to be possessed by a demon, should be spared execution by reason of insanity. I've only seen a few video clips on YouTube, but it looks pretty frightening, and I saw an interview with a priest (exorcist) who said that's the inmate/demon is very true to life.

People supposedly have seen and heard units marching on the fields.
Some of the buildings in town used as hospitals have injured ghosts which regularly appear.
At least that's what I've read/watched on tv shows. Something about the violence of the place. It was a bloody three-day battle.

It could also be that SSRIs are really bad for your brain, especially since they are of limited usefulness, and the usual way of dealing with that is to either increase the dosage or stack other SSRIs on top of them.
I don't know much about demonology, but I do know that SSRIs screw with your head, and they are worse the longer they are used.

The way I've described it, when my first wife died I would hear noises in the house, and sometimes it would sound like a key was being put in a lock.
It was always a fleeting sound. My conclusion? I was hearing these things, not because she was still here, but because I was.
Same thing when my son died earlier this year.

People I know who have been to Gettysberg said the same exact thing to me. One flat out said the place was cursed, another said bad juju there. As far as the concentration camp thing, that has to be some dark shit. An asshole friend of mine who collected militaria was in europe at one of those sites, and managed to grab a piece of barbed wire, or fence wire. He brings it home, gives a piece to another friend of mine who pays no mind and tosses it on top of his refrigerator in his apartment, and tells nobody. His 5 year old started telling him he's seeing people, and they look hungry. His wife tells him she keeps seeing shadows. He figures out whats happening, dumps the wire and brings in a priest. nothing after that.

Early on they were rolling up primary care physicians and making them captive "doc in a box" practices. Hospitals were acquiring physician practices because now PCPs were going to be gatekeepers and a big deal and they'd make money on it. None of this panned out because the docs had ZERO incentive to work the way they did when they owned their own practices. Plus HMOs pay dick. So the docs wandered off, and the hospital systems spun the practices back off. Fast forward about 15 years and the hospital systems get a hard on for acquiring physician practices again (mostly because they want the diagnostic and surgical referrals) and guess what? The acquired practices stop making money because the docs again have no incentive to kill themselves the way they were as owners. So they start looking to spin them off again.

Well I didn't have the room to tell the whole story. The 5 year was talking about "old clothes", probably meaning tattered. The wife was saying she thought she saw somebody in the kitchen but moved like a shadow. When he figured out what was happening he told the wife. She absolutely freaked, took the kids and left, and didn't come back until he got a priest. I said to him, are you fucking insane? I said think about the 100's or 1000's that stared at that fence, a focus of anguish, and you stick a piece of it in your apartment?? It wasn't lost on him, noooo, he brings to the auto shop he worked at that he happened to be leaving, and stashes it on a shelf behind a bunch of parts that hadn't been touched in years. Not long after the place closed. No clue if it was connected, but damn...

Well, we got my mother back home this afternoon. She's doing pretty good, but she needs O2 all the time. She can't go for more than a couple minutes without it, I discovered. So that means having to carefully get the O2 machine (it's a smaller "more" portable one, with battery power which will last about 2 hours per charge) in the bathroom with her.
I tried to see how she would do without it, but nope, O2 saturation dropped to 80%.
Even "mild" pneumonia will do a number on the lungs of a 95 yr old.

But one of the more amusing was in an apartment my daughter rented in an old part of Ft. Worth, an upstairs unit in a 6 plex built in 1912. It was said to have a “reputation”, we paid it no mind. Most of the lights were out, so first thing I personally spent time replacing all the lightbulbs. Then she and I went to target together, to get some stuff. Important; at that moment no one had keys but she and I , and we were together.
So we got back about 3 hours later, I tried to turn a light on, nothing. I checked- no light bulbs . None. They were all gone, and nowhere to be found.
And what was even more, on a desk, a pile of her jewelry and necklaces had been piled up in this weird little pyramid. She asked me, did you do this? I said no, of course I didn’t.
She didn’t stay there long. At least whatever else stayed there was more mischievous than evil.

And California's pension system is gold plated, especially for safety employees and I'm not sure if a prison doctor is one but if he is, 3 percent of pay per year and retire at 50 is quite the deal. And prison guards get their medical insurance for them and their spouse paid for in retirement.
