Many of us who work in politics have felt sickened since the assassination of Charlie Kirk. We sense that a line has been crossed, perhaps permanently.
For years, the Left had accused conservative intellectuals of fomenting "stochastic terrorism"--incendiary rhetoric that inspires violence. This accusation was used to purge conservatives from social media, and, during the Biden administration, contributed to the F.B.I.'s decision to monitor conservatives, including parents who opposed critical race theory. The Left sought to use the stochastic terrorism construction as an all-purpose censorship tool.
This year, the tables have turned. Donald Trump is in power and left-wing violence has surged. Even The Atlantic, which previously seconded the idea of stochastic terrorism, has now conceded that political violence from the Left outstrips that from the Right.
After studying several recent incidents of left-wing terrorism, I want to articulate some initial thoughts about what I call the "left-wing terror memeplex." This system, in which left-wing narratives inspire decentralized acts of violence, has four elements: prestige narratives, radicalized memespaces, copycat models, and disturbed individuals.
The memeplex is not organized like the older model of left-wing political terrorism, which relied on organized groups (such as the Weather Underground and Black Liberation Army), decentralized cells, ideological formation, and meticulous planning. By contrast, the memeplex is decentralized, mediated through the Internet, and, on the surface, appears unorganized. Left-wing media and political figures peddle narratives through the digital sphere; an individual commits an act of terrorism inspired by those narratives; and the media and political figures pretend that the two are unrelated and that the terrorist was a "lone wolf."

They played a clip of Steven Crowder -- who is going to go back to doing college campus events now -- and guiltly apologized for not publicly speaking out and revealing the number of death and other threats he routinely received previously, wondering allowed if he had done so perhaps conservatives like Charlie might have stepped up security measures (although I have to wonder if Charlie almost foresaw and welcomed potential martyrdom for the cause) -- and maybe he wouldn't have been assassinated.

We live in an era of the "expert's" disdain for the layman.

However, this goes back when I was a kid. My dad took a bb-gun away from a kid that putting visible holes in our windows with it.

Cops showed up and threatened him with theft. *They* didn't see that kid shoot at our house (because my dad had the gun! Officer Duh!) and so we couldn't prove that my dad was justified in taking the bb-gun away because we couldn't prove the holes came from the kid's bb-gun.

If Sessions had done his job, there would have not be Wray running wild as FBI head because Rod the Rat Rosenstein and Weissman would never have the chance of running Mueller's special counsel investigation.

Sessions could have ensured clean voter rolls as well but he preferred to turtle and let the world go on without him.

Yep. The NG means they will be arrested AND face federal charges AND the NG is prepared to deal punishment if they resist. Antifa pretends to be tough, but only when they think there will be no-consequence at all. Individually they are weak people.

325 The problem is the "antifa fags" are Indivisible Movement; Refuse Fascism; depending on your state, your county's Democratic Party; lots of Federal civil service, states' civil service, and union organizers. And on and on and on.

Simply put, it's a mix but all with the same message for the time being. Though many benefit by far more economically and status wise in the end, others 'belong' until then.

328 I've heard that a lot of cops hate when they get called to a 'citizens arrest' and will look for any reason to invalidate it, once they get to the site.

Authorities don't like criminals, because they break the law, but they HATE vigilantes, because they are competition for power and make the authorities look bad. Someone gets murdered, they get the usual detective on the case. Some vigilante kills a criminal and they create a whole task force and pull people off other cases to get that guy at all costs.

I see where you are making an error. It is the will of the power brokers who have control of the mail in ballots, especially in Eugene, Salem and Portland.

But, it is a good attempt to prove that you have no obligation to care, so full marks for that. Nothing is as wonderful as being able to both follow all the rules and justify ignoring a festering problem. It s nearly a Modern Libertarian way of thinking.
