We discussed yesterday how tone deaf the Democrats were to insist on funding NPR as one of the conditions to avoid a government shutdown. A new New York Times poll shows that the leadership does not even have the support of a majority of Democrats. ...Some 65 percent said Democrats should not shut down the government. Among Democrats, 43 percent said they should not shut down the government. That is at the start of the shutdown. These things tend to become less popular with time. Fighting for such items as funding your favorite media outlet is not going to resonate with Americans, who will face serious cutoffs with this move.

New York can pay for its own infrastructure from the profits from Zohran Mamdani's government-run groceries. Democrats are all claiming that they're not fighting for free health care for illegals. They claim that illegals aren't eligible for Obamacare so none of them are on it, just like they're not allowed to vote so obviously zero illegals vote illegally. But that's not even the issue, and they know it. At least if they were on Obamacare, they would be paying something for health care. They're not. They walk into hospital ERs and do not pay anything to anybody. And you know who pays for that? Taxpayers, through the federal government, which "reimburses" hospitals for the "free" health care they provided to illegals. Which is no different than paying the bill up front. It doesn't matter whether taxpayers pay it immediately or a month later when the hospital bills the federal government. We're paying for free health care for illegals. Democrats are demanding we restore funding to hospitals for free health care for illegals.

Went to Urgent Care for something serious (have gone for too many serious things...) and saw a girl there for a toothpick in her foot...I so badly wanted to grab the damn thing, yank it out, and tell her to get a tetanus shot. I strongly believe in counting calories to lose weight, and that's what I'm doing. I'm getting 200g of protein per day, then eating about half my remaining calories in fats and half in carbs. I'm not having sweets.
I'm also lifting heavy 3x per week and doing lots of cardio 3x per week. I only credit 60% of the calories the machines say I've burned to my caloric budget.

The states? The hospitals? What's at stake in the shutdown is federal funding for illegals. States are free to do whatever they want.
Also, as I alluded to above, there are certain hospitals that cater to illegals and poorer Americans -- they are usually public hospitals. I think this is more a problem for public hospitals. At least in NYC, the public hospitals are generally in poorer areas where the clientele would be more illegals.

In the last 24 hours, I've been accused of removing things from the house without permission, insatiable greed and being overly nice in some sort of ruse.
First Lady talked to the step-sister over the phone and was so irate at her, she told her to f*ck off. FL sent an email telling her what she wouldn't listen to over the phone.
I followed it up with another email this morning, during which I had to ask WWCKD several times to keep it above board.
While we are done with the house and all that, she has burned a bridge that cannot be repaired. I will keep in touch with my step-mother out of respect for her keeping to the 'till death do us part' vow with my father.

In the last 24 hours, I've been accused of removing things from the house without permission, insatiable greed and being overly nice in some sort of ruse.
First Lady talked to the step-sister over the phone and was so irate at her, she told her to f*ck off. FL sent an email telling her what she wouldn't listen to over the phone.
I followed it up with another email this morning, during which I had to ask WWCKD several times to keep it above board.
While we are done with the house and all that, she has burned a bridge that cannot be repaired. I will keep in touch with my step-mother out of respect for her keeping to the 'till death do us part' vow with my father.
My SS is pretty much dead to me. She should not come anywhere near the FL, either. That won't go over well.

Negotiate a treaty with the countries in question where they agree to pay the bill for any citizen treated in the US (and conversely we do as well for Americans in their country).

Well a medical professional has to make a subjective quick judgement, if it is their opinion that they are overdosing or about to die from their addiction, they get in quick. Its also about what is available: detox is a different department and might have ore openings then, say, "remove the iron spike from your lungs" department.
But as you say its subjective, and some might have their preferences or inclinations for some cases over others.

I believe that has to do with Medicaid payments. If one state uses its Medicaid funds to pay for the poors, and the next state uses it to pay for illegals, it all comes out of the federal pot.
So when a Democrat says "they're taking away Medicaid for the poors," and the Republican says "No, just from illegals," nobody really knows how the money is divided, and can get away with saying the other side is lying.

When they opted to build a completely new hospital just outside town, I was against it. They were already a ‘bad’ hospital, so why give them money for a new facility? I’ve been there a couple times since for one reason or another, and the ER is worlds different. You see a doctor or nurse almost immediately. There are places to sit and wait that aren’t filled with entire families now that the hospital isn’t in easy walking distance.

To think I want tax dollars to pay for anyone's trans sex change, oh, hell no. I would volunteer to Bobbit their dangles for free. I am sure others would offer as well.
I hope the government shuts down over this. Maybe it has and I am too busy to notice.
