Democrats Are Going to Shut Down the Government at Midnight

Schumer bucked radical Democrats' demands to shut the government down in March. Now, under threat of a primary by the flat-faced peasant whore Alexandria Donkey-Chompers, he's going to stop all government funding to force Trump to fund free health care for illegals.

It's really amazing.

This insane strategy is being pushed by the Soros-funded "No Kings" protest group
"Indivisible," which is an odd name as they do nothing but divide and create strife and agitate for civil war.

A left-wing activist group that received millions of dollars from the Soros family's organization is spearheading a pressure campaign to push Democratic senators to vote against funding the government and force a partial shutdown.

Indivisible -- the organization behind many of the recent "No Kings" protests and other demonstrations part of the so-called "resistance" against President Donald Trump -- has embarked on a recent effort to goad Senate Democrats to not come to a bipartisan funding agreement with their Republican colleagues and the president. The group's website currently hosts a form enabling people to easily contact their Democratic senators by phone, complete with a script of what to say.

The group's non-tax-deductible entity, Indivisible Project, has received a total of $7.6 million in grants from the Soros' Open Society Foundations (OSF) over the past eight years, according to Indivisible's website. OSF is a grantmaking network which left-wing billionaire George Soros founded in 1993 and his son, Alexander Soros, currently chairs.

"Federal government funding runs out on September 30 -- and Republicans need Democratic votes to clear the filibuster and avoid a government shutdown," Indivisible's form states. "Democrats have a strong hand to play. They must use it to deny Donald Trump the blank check Republicans want to hand him!"

As you probably know, Trump has already telegraphed his response to a shut down. Usually during a shut down, "non-vital" bureaucrats are furloughed. This is a scam. They get a few weeks off from working, and then get paid their lost wages when government re-opens.

Trump has a different plan. He will use the opportunity of a shut down to fire thousands of unneeded bureaucrats including very senior and power left-wing bureaucrats making $100-200,000 per year. The top of the Deep State command structure.

UK's Sharia-Compliant State Media: Trump threatens "irreversible layoffs" -- that is, firings -- when the government shut down. They will not be "furloughed" and then paid later for a paid vacation. They will just be shitcanned forever.

Democrats are also demanding that we begin funding NPR again to the tune of a half billion per year and that we increase spending by $1.5 trillion per year.

Once his party decided to play brinkmanship (and not just pass this quietly 2-3 weeks ago), he had no out.

If he caved, his political career is over. And seeing the recent string of shootings, his life might be over. No way he'd give in, even when he knows it's the right long term move. He needs to show his own side the idiocy of doing this, or at least get some part of his side to come to his aid and give him cover.

I can't blame him. And I don't blame Rs for FINALLY staying strong. Instead, it's time for the Rs to sit down and forget a CR and pass budget bills over the course of the next couple months to bring back Gov as Rs want (and any that get D stonewall, in a omnibus bill they can pass 51-49 if necessary - won't get all our changes, but sounds like Trump is starting them alone anyway)...

I mean, even DOJ Civil Rights hired a crew of 13 with Harmeet (who will also not be paid) just last month, and going without pay early in a job will suck...

I'd like to think that Chuck Schumer's reasoning for shutting down the government includes many things other than a perceived threat of a primary by Ms. Ocarsio-Cortez, because she's gonna primary him if she thinks she has the slightest chance of winning. One item I haven't seen is whether Congress and federal judges, and their staffs, get paid during a shutdown. I certainly hope not, and that Congress doesn't get any catch-up pay for failing to do their jobs.

Posted by: Hour of the Wolf at September 30, 2025 04:49 PM (S/Y4j)

135 Trump wants to layoff federal workers permanently. A shutdown is what he wants. Look at the 2018-19 shutdown. He has also said that he does not want to negotiate. Republicans have played hardball for too long and it is past the time the Democrats do the same.

There are multiple things working in Democrats’ favor here. Expanded ACA subsidies expire at the end of 2025. The One Big Beautiful Bill is closing rural hospitals. Medicaid work requirements and Medicaid cuts are coming. We could also be in a recession or stagflation soon due to the tariffs.

The administration is basically the terrorist holding a gun to the hostage’s head and saying “if you don’t give me what I want, I’ll shoot!” How on earth do they think they’re the good guy in this?

Let's hope there are some balls left in the Democratic party and that they didn't leave with Nancy Pelosi.

The media will blame "both sides" as though they are equally valid. "With the Republicans in control of all three branches, how did the Democrats drop the ball?"

I’ll take shutdown over trans people losing their healthcare. If one group gets stripped of their basic rights, we're all at risk.

162 139 Trump has a different plan. He will use the opportunity of a shut down to fire thousands of unneeded bureaucrats including very senior and power left-wing bureaucrats making $100-200,000 per year. The top of the Deep State command structure.

This should put paid to the notion that all government employees are grossly overpaid (should but won't). DC is a very expensive place to live. If your top people are making $100-200k, they aren't getting rich.

"Not getting rich" != "is not grossly overpaid."

The ones getting rich do it through fraud and theft, not their W-2 income, but that is beside the point.

If they are working against the interests of the American people, behaving like tyrants, lumbering about incompetently while eating their paychecks, etc., then they are overpaid.

I have no clue if Trump is going to fire them strategically or just wildly swing the ax. I hope it's the former, but any good ones that get let go (and there are decent people in the FedGov. There statistically have to be in a population that large) can be rehired. That's the Musk way. I know he isn't there any more, but he did build the DOGE practices.

What usually happens is that the dems start with unreasonable demands which excites the base of both sides (Ds to fight for more, Rs to shut it down). Then they fake like the Rs won but actually the Ds end up with *more* than the initial ask.

They do this because Rs load up the pork for their projects on a one to one basis above the initial D demand. But that part is done quietly since both sides benefit and do not want the public to know.

There is no winning when the Rs are not on our side. Trump has to work with the congress we have and it is corrupt.

Trump doesn't "chicken out", he may occasionally change his mind or give up on a strategy that isn't working. He is flexible, constantly working toward what he wants. Goals are the same, details change.

And seriously - during a shut down there is nothing preventing trump for wholesale firing of federal employees, even those with civil service protection. When he does that, are those let go people going to hate trump, or the dems more? I can't even imagine what the Dems are thinking right now.

Do the first amendment process to cut out something they care about. Then casually mention that it will happen daily until they capitulate.

Even give it all back when done. It changes nothing as compared to the Dems just passing the damn thing as it is, which is the demand. But no more of this, "we shut it down and get even more" crap. Do what they do. Escalate.

398 Just noticed something interesting about Nepal. You will recall the people rising up and having a bar b que with the parliament building, and dunking politicians in the river. Nepal is a buffer zone between China and India along that border. The US would throw money at Nepal and try to influence them to support a democratic form of government.

Guess where every cent of that US "influence" was coming from. USAID. *POOF* those funds disappear and all of a sudden the citizens of Nepal realize that their politicians are living a bit too well while they fester. It's likely because the US was paying for all their entitlements.

I'm beginning to think we should annex the world and call it ours. We're paying for all of it.

404 A guy I know told me a funny story about the Marine Corps Museum.

As is well known, the response to John Brown's Raid on Harper's Ferry was led by Robert E. Lee, commanding Marines because they were the only troops he could lay his hands on in short order.

But, at the Marine Corps Museum, they say that the counterattack on Brown was led by a Marine (probably the highest-ranking one present under Lee, I'm guessing, I've not seen the exhibit). Because the Corps will never admit that they were ever led into battle by an Army officer, even one of the Lee's stature.

That is VERY Marine.

406 I will never forget Preznit Gaylord's shutdown: he stationed guards at OPEN, OUTDOOR national monuments in DC to keep, inter alia, a group of WWII VETERANS from seeing the WWII monument: and the old soldiers, half of them in wheelchairs, pushed past his spiteful barricades.

What an absolute shit he is.

Those monuments are freely accessible from the Mall in ordinary times, en plein air. It cost more money/personnel to keep the 90-year-olds, none of whom would get another chance, from getting up close to it.

Perfectly demonstrated his malice towards Americans.

The last government shutdowns I had to work through were not pleasant. The first time, I was required to designate which of my employees were essential and which ones were not. I swore I'd never do that again.

When the second (and last for me) rolled around, I didn't have to make that decision. Everyone got sent home. Then a plane crashed, and all of the sudden, we were essential again.

But, a few months ago Insty was shilling for a scale deal on Amazon for one of the ones that does a detailed body make up.

Now, I knew at the time that I was overweight (as high as I had ever gotten) felt like crap and looked like shit. I was about 40 lbs over target.

The scale, with its diagnostic routine said I was not only 'morbidly obese' but in a separate category said my body type was 'chubby.' I still laugh my ass off. Fuck you too scale!

From WIKI

Late in the afternoon President Buchanan called out a detachment of U.S. Marines from the Washington Navy Yard, the only federal troops in the immediate area: 81 privates, 11 sergeants, 13 corporals, and 1 bugler, armed with seven howitzers.[79] The Marines left for Harper's Ferry on the regular 3:30 train, arriving about 10 PM.[4]: 564 [74] Israel Greene was in charge.

To command them Buchanan ordered Brevet Colonel[73]: xv  Robert E. Lee, conveniently on leave at his home, just across the Potomac in Arlington, Virginia, to "repair" to Harpers Ferry,[73][80] where he arrived about 10 PM, on a special train.[4]: 564 [81] Lee had no uniform readily available, and wore civilian clothes.[4]:567 [82]

Israel Green was a Marine Officer at the time. He went South when the war started.

Updated: July 8, 2025

Note: KFF now has a clean summary of the health care provisions in the 2025 federal budget reconciliation law as well as a separate implementation timeline highlighting key dates in the law.

This side-by-side comparison tool compares the health care provisions in the House-passed and Senate-passed 2025 budget reconciliation law to each other and prior law. The Senate-passed bill ultimately passed the House on July 3 and was signed into law by President Trump on July 4. The comparison is divided into four categories: Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act, Medicare and Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). It also compares the provisions to a earlier draft of the bill passed by the House on May 22.
