Military GAINZZZ: Trump, Hegseth Address the Military High Command Wearing "No Fatties" T-Shirts
Last week the leftwing freaked -- plot twist, I know -- over Hegseth's sudden call for all top military leaders to gather in Virginia.
They freaked because they suspected what was coming: Trump and Hegseth would tell the wokies the free ride is over. Reform or resign. But Hegseth did more than that. He called them a bunch of fat weakling cucks.

QUANTICO -- Secretary of War Pete Hegseth looked into the eyes of hundreds of his top military leaders on Tuesday as he shared his new directives for the War Department -- including the news that every military branch will ensure that requirements for combat positions return to "the highest male standard." "This job is life or death," he emphasized. "Standards must be met ... it's common sense and core to who we are and what we do."
The Secretary of War addressed a room filled with United States military leaders from around the world, while legacy media outlets fretted over the "unprecedented" gathering. ... "We must be so strong that no nation will dare challenge us, so powerful that no enemy will dare threaten us, and so capable that no adversary can even think about beating us," the president said Tuesday. ... No longer will the War Department tolerate ideological standards or quotas or punish leaders for supposed "toxic" attitudes, Hegseth said. No more "identity months, DEI offices, dudes in dresses," nor will it tolerate leadership that is not aligned with the War Department's mission, he noted, pointing out to those present that he had fired some military leaders. The ideology and lowered standards implemented during President Joe Biden's administration are over, both Trump and Hegseth said. "We're done with that shit," Hegseth said. ... Hegseth repeatedly mentioned his concerns about lowered standards in the United States military, particularly when it comes to fitness and grooming, sharing that at his direction on Tuesday, every member of the Joint Force at every rank will be required to take a biannual PT test and to meet height and weight requirements for "every year of service." He even went so far as to call out leadership themselves on this issue: "It's unacceptable to see fat generals and admirals in the halls of the Pentagon, and leading all around the world. It's a bad look, and it's not who we are!" ... He specifically noted that the fitness changes are not being made in order to weed women out of the armed forces. "If women can make it, excellent," he said. "If not, it is what it is...It will also mean that weak men won't qualify, because we're not playing games. This is combat. This is life or death." The War Secretary told the military brass: "If the words I'm saying today are making your heart sink, then you should do the honorable thing and resign."
He doesn't just talk about physical fitness standards, but grooming standards. That's not just about clipping nails. He's talking about the grooming standards for men and the standards for women, and he means men are going to have to dress like men with men's haircuts and women will have to dress like women. (Women can probably cut their hair short if they like. I think the standard forbids long hair for men, but I don't think there's any minimum length standard for women.)

The standard for years had been that their hair couldn't touch their collar. I believe that rule was done away with recently (but not under Hegseth). Also, there were only a few approved hairstyles. Which made sense, because the hair had to fit under a cap and not be in your face.

Folks are confusing this. There are combat roles and non-combat roles in the military (the army is the most stark separation for this). Combat roles will be gender neutral - Army has 6 combat arms (if I remember from my spouse). I don't think non-combat ones will (aka, as there was in the 80s, these will have differentiated standards).
And when someone says, what non-combat roles could there be? Think of the woman embedded who is the "female pat down" person for a security function or the linguist translator for a child...still on the front, but not a "combat role" but a "support role"...

I can't wait for a *succinct* summary of what the new standards will be. It took more than a minute to find an actual height/weight chart--most websites are still filled with "government speak" rather than just here's a row of heights and here's the columns of weights. I qualify based on height and weight.
I can't wait to find what the push up requirements, sit up requirements, etc are. And is the "run" requirement 2 miles or 1.5? There's conflicting data out there, and no easy to find source for the time one should run either distance in.

Among other things there is only 18" between the top of the mattress and the bottom of the bunk above you, fatties won't even fit. Plus doors and passageways are narrow, not to mention spaces behind equipment to clean and do maintenance. I spent 4 years on a fast attack and the only slightly chubby sailors were the chiefs.

Two months ago at the range some guys brought in an 18-yr old who was enlisting at MCRD this month. Nice kid. After asking him whether he was glad a lot of the BS afflicting the country and services would probably not be part of his experience, thanks to the management change - he was aware and stoked about that - I dropped to the deck and started doing push-ups, telling him to start the count. Fun.
Still clearly recall Marine general officers, in the field (war zone) and at Quantico on the range, who looked as fit as their 20-something enlisted.

With this announcement, there's no way you could draft them...in war, you need to up your combat arms, not usually your non-combat ones...and you'd have about 1% max of female draftees that could make the male standards, so you'd waste a lot of time washing the other 99% out.
I mean, you can't train them all for the healthcare roles in time, either...so they couldn't fill the biggest non-combat need, either...

You can't just use your biceps to pull you up. Can you curl your own weight? No you can't. Unless you're engaging your lats strongly you have no hope.
Best mental cue I've heard: Imagine your arms are not arms but just hooks attached to your elbows. So all the power is going to come from your lats pulling down on your elbows, not your biceps.
That's not enough to get most people there but there are lots of ways to do partial pull-ups to build up muscle and form for a real one.
At age 29, I finally did five good pull ups, and by five good pull ups, I mean four good pull ups and then a shitty kipping pull up. Still, I had never in my life done a pull-up before.

Air traffic control isn't normally a "combat" role...and I'm not sure "drone operators" are put in that spot, either, since they never see or go over a battlefield. Having worked on a military drone program (recon one) in its infancy, I'd be curious how they resolved that b/c when I did the program, contractors flew our drones b/c it was still in R&D when it got deployed...

I rewatched the first one not long ago. Very dated, obviously. But very clever. Whoever wrote the script really thought about how the Tron world might work and included references to tech as existed at the time.
I don't even remember the second one. Just a lot of CGI overload, IIRC.

I was of the same mind, except everything accomplished with that speech is just as easily accomplished on paper. You could argue that Hegseth is displaying a control position by making them attend, but a career military officer has been living that format for most of their adult lives.
There has to be another reason involved, and I recall reading that Hegseth has his own little "army" of operators that he was using in an advisory capacity. All of whom would be loyal and familiar with military command structure.

We had no fat dentists at any base I worked on. Well, except maybe the first CO, but even he could make the minimals standards.

There were female gladiators, of a sort, but they were like GLOW or lingerie football, it was spectacle, not basic gladiatorial combat. She's portrayed as this deadly lead gladiator who can fight and defeat men easily.
