Good vs Evil Cafe

puffininflight.jpg
A puffin. Puffins are the eternal enemies
of the evil penguins.

Cow dances happily for a donut, which I get.

Duck battalion.

I need this mask.

Old Lab is still as loving as a puppy.

Animal hospital.

Cat gets bullied.

You know those agility tests where dogs have to thread quickly through poles? This dog is a genius. He just pretends to slalom through them.

It's feeding time, Man-Bitch.

Wheee!

Twins' first meeting.

Twins share each other's pain.

A family dancing to "Apache," through the ages.

A sac of Spider-Men.

An automatic tomato harvester.

The Vaughan Liebowitz Collection of Pottery Fails.

Capybara drum major.

Mama and pup.

Smart parrot.

I lost my mind this afternoon in a Parish Building committee meeting and drop an F Bomb. Father said nothing but I did notice a very small smile escaping from his lips.

36 Willowed:
"Guardian: Mormon church shooting suspect had Trump sign outside home, records show"

I'm still waiting on the 72 hour rule. I'm not sure what beef any MAGA would have with my church, there is something more here.

One thing I'm waiting on is the final death count. LDS congregations usually have a special children's musical number in the fall, with all the kids ages 6-12 getting up and singing sometime after the sacrament. A lot of the churches were doing that yesterday. So potentially a LOT more grandparents and kids were in that crowd than normal for their sacrament meeting. More vulnerable victims.

My current theory: Maybe a vindictive dad, if he had a nasty divorce or was a threat to his family, and it was a ward he knew or his kids were singing? Trying to understand the motive of the dark soul that would shoot up a church is difficult.

Bless all those sweet families.

Haw! If he'd gone to college, he'd probably be crushed under a mountain of debt and staring moodily at his diploma in sociology.

Old Paco (my father), had no post-high school education, except for a course he took in criminology from a correspondence school (the diploma was impressive, though: it was huge and bedecked with ribbons and sprawling signatures; it looked like a land grant from the King of Spain). He was a lawman for some 25 years, then he retired and started up a trash hauling business, eventually sold it to Waste Management for a bundle.

191 There are two factors here that can be true at the same time:
1. the shooter was MAGA (generally)
2. the motive for the shooting was not MAGA

Like, to use an example dear to my heart, if two Juggalos and a Juggalette go out with their ICP hatchetman shirts and rob a convenience store, stealing a bunch of Faygo and beating the poor sap running the store, that does not mean that all ICP fandom is to blame. These were just three assholes doing a stupid crime on their own, because they really liked Faygo that much.

The conversation recounted by City Council hopeful, Chris Johns, reveals a hateful man who had a deep personal beef with the Mormon Church. I wonder if the wife was in the Church or converting and causing a rift, which may have been the thing that ultimately set him off.

You know . . . garden variety MAGA stuff.

196 From two days ago:

Stunned silence turned into frantic whispers at ABC headquarters when the numbers came in: *The Charlie Kirk Show* had done the unthinkable, pulling in **over 1 billion views in just days**. Executives, who expected a bold debut but nothing earth-shattering, suddenly found themselves staring at statistics so massive that some questioned whether they were even real. Behind the closed doors of the network’s glass towers, panic reportedly spread—because with numbers this big comes a dangerous question: who actually controls the future of television now? Was it Erika Kirk and Megyn Kelly rewriting history, or a cultural wave too powerful for ABC to manage? Viewers around the world are asking if this show is just entertainment—or the start of something far bigger.

USSR gifted all kinds of weapons to allies/partners in the 50s/60s, including stuff they'd captured intact from the krauts. As I recall, the find reported years back said they were unissued, in original packing crates (presumably straw and cosmoline too).

Back then I wondered if some wealthy crazed collector/history nut would finance a team to go in trade $$$ for the guns. Would have probably worked. Also would make a good documentary.

Much worse. Candace Owens decided to throw in with the Gaslighters on "our side" and offer her own fake "information" from her secret "sources."

Candace, who is undeniably an evil woman with a vendetta, claims the assassin was NEVER on the UVU campus. She says the FBI is lying about "everything" and tyler robinson is innocent.

I mean look at every article/post in every online format, there are numerous commentors, that in the face of this evil tragedy, are most upset about people labeling the dead church goers as Christian. (You'd think a gang of marauding Mormons kicked their grandmother or something). Just like the causality we placed on lib rhetoric leading to the crazy killing Charlie, is not this Mormon bashing rhetoric responsible for inciting this crazed killer who in his own words saw his victims as anti-Christs?

This is revolting and even a bit frightening. I read that way back when, Bill Buckley expelled the John Birchers from the conservative revival he was leading and proceeded to build the conservative movement of the next so many decades.

The only times I saw Charlie Kirk end a debate in an uncivil way was when he was excoriating an outraged Christofascist or white supremacist who claimed to be conservative or MAGA and wanted Trump to conform. "GET OUT!" he would yell.

I believe Charlie was the guy to stop this crazy Tucker-Candace train, even if he talked to them from time to time. He would have kicked them out or straightened them out. I hope JD Vance in 2028 can let these nuts know their nutty ideas have no place in the conservative movement.
