Eric Adams Drops Out of Mayoral Race to Consolidate the Anti-Communist-Jihadist Vote

So our best possible outcome in NYC is the election of covid authoritarian and King of Corruption Andrew Cuomo.

Zohran Mamdani leads by about 20 points. Eric Adams did not have nearly that level of support.

It seems that NYC has chosen the form of its destructor.

Mayor Eric Adams' decision to drop his re-election bid provides a boost to Andrew Cuomo in the race for City Hall, but not nearly enough to topple mayoral front-runner and Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, pollsters and campaign strategists said.

Before his Sunday announcement, Adams was polling in the high single digits -- not enough alone to change the trajectory of the race, said Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist University Institute for Public Opinion.

The mayor received 9% support in Marist's poll released earlier this month, a distant fourth behind Mamdani, Cuomo and Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa.

There are too few Adams voters to shift elsewhere to make a dramatic difference.

"It gives Cuomo a boost -- but it's not enough," Miringoff told The Post.

Slingshot Strategies' founding partner Evan Roth Smith, who is also a lead pollster for Blueprint, echoed Miringoff's point.

"There just aren't enough Adams voters out there to go somewhere new," Smith said.

"So all said, it's probably worth a couple points for Andrew Cuomo, but Andrew Cuomo needs way more than a couple points to catch up to Zohran."

Zohran Mamdani will, of course, make it so onerous to live in NYC that anyone who can flee, will flee. The city's tax base will depart, and the city will be left with Mamdani's trillion dollars of spending and thimble-full of tax revenue.

I think the entire plan is to bankrupt the city and then demand that the federal government bail them out. The real plan of socialism is always to pirate away other people's money.

But Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent says that Mamdani will get no bailout from the US.

And he uses a line from the 70s, when a bankrupt NYC demanded a bailout from the accidental president Gerry Ford.

dropdeadford.jpg

Reuters Terror Wire:

U.S. Treasury's Bessent message to NYC on any bailout: 'Drop dead'

The Trump administration will not bail out New York City in any financial crisis if Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani follows through with his plans, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Wednesday.

"I guarantee you - and there are not a lot of things in life that are sure - that New York City will be coming to the federal government for a bailout if the Mamdani plans are implemented," Bessent said in an interview with Fox Business Network.

Asked if he would give the city a bailout under those circumstances, Bessent said, "It will be the same thing that Gerald Ford said: 'Drop dead.'"

While former President Ford never actually said those words, a New York tabloid headline used the phrase to capture the moment in 1975 when the Republican president refused to bail out New York as it was on the verge of bankruptcy.
Mamdani's office did not immediately return a request for comment on Bessent's remarks.

Below, Bessent's remarks made to Maria Bartiromo. Bessent notes that NYC already saw the greatest flight of capital in history, from Manhattan to Palm Beach County, under "Red" diBlasio.

I'm worried about Trump overruling Bessent. Trump has billions of dollars of NYC real estate which will be devastated by a collapsing NYC. Plus, he really likes the city. It's his home (more or less, I know he's in Palm Beach now).

9 Do we really know enough about polling of Dims to say that MameMe is ahead by a lot? If polls oversample Dims over Republicans because AWFLs have a 110% response rate on polls, why could that not hold when you're trying to compare MameMe's AWFL support versus Adams' black support or Cuomo's Tammany Hall ethnic support?

69 The early 1970s economy of high inflation and dollar devaluation and oil embargo price shocks wiped out millions of “middle class”; that was like a light switch went off in the public sphere sentiment.

Prior to that there was a decided “can do” attitude, and the belief that American industry and technology would continue its inexorable progress towards a higher standard of living for everyone. Medicine, energy, space program, defense etc.

Then it all went doom and gloom all the time. 24/7, and a series of bugaboos like the coming Ice Age, nuclear war winter, Acid Rain, the Ozone layer, nuclear energy catastrophe and polyester leisure suits, orange shag carpeting, and Jimmy Fucking Carter in a goddamned sweater lecturing everyone “You Suck” and it really never got any better, with the possible exception of a brief period during the Reagan era.

I am not, either. But under Mayor Giuliani it was a great place to visit. The Met Museum alone was worth the trips I made with my husband on business. I spent days there alone. We took one son and his gf now wife on a trip when they graduated college. Fabulous then!

This redneck farm girl loved the Upper West Side and Ouest restaurant...and their famous martini. No longer there. That martini was legal anesthesia. Katz Deli. A walk to Zabar's. Fun times!

The theater was also wonderful. Le Mis, Miss Saigon, Hairspray, etc. We even rode with crazy moose limb cab drivers and, while probably near death, had a great time.

Now? Since the illegals were welcomed into our hotel, the Lucerne, I will never go back. I doubt ever.

The hope is probably that it will sway the people who are really sick of living in squalor while their "Other Man's Freedom Fighters" yuck it up in Doha. 111 I grew up in a midwest industrial town. The north end rioted when Martin King was murdered in 1968 and burned quite a few businesses.

There are still yet today a few boarded up or vacant derelict buildings from that. It never recovered from that, the downtown proper atrophied. They claimed it was due to inadequate parking but …. Everyone knew why. There was within a few years a huge construction boom south of town in what were prime farm lands building huge mall complex and shopping centers. Downtown withered away.

These shopping malls held sway for decades, but have now died too. If you would have told me Sears would go bankrupt…. I’m sure this exact scenario plays out all over America.

And Barbara Carlson Gage, also, got the hell out of there and moved to a suburb. His "Vacancy Tax" is the foundation of his campaign. Balancing act. While a lot of us here might want Ham Ass exterminated like the cockroaches they are, that is not the position of most of the world and that will inevitably hurt Israel and make them even more isolated in the rest of the world.

No one wants the Palestinians in their country as they have proven themselves to be evil plotters trying to seize power in those host countries and darn near ruining them. So if you cannot move the population out, then options are limited unless Israel wants to occupy Gaza again which failed the last time (sort of like our cordoning off Iraq after first Gulf War), exterminate the population which will create massive hatred of Israel, try to force refugees into adjoining countries which would probably trigger an immediate war, or figuring out some modus vivendi.

But, my guess, is that Ham Ass will reject the peace so the war will continue. Ham Ass thinks they are winning which from the decline in favorable sentiment for Israel across the world, may actually be correct.

149 I've mentioned this before, but the Museum of the City of New York has a video on the history of NYC, narrated by Stanley Tucci.

NOWHERE in the vid does it credit Guiliani for a darn thing. Of the pre Guiliani years, it gently states the city fell into a rough patch, but when it gets to Guiliani, it says the citizens of NYC "Took their city back." What?? How, pray tell, did they did that? Broken Windows policy anyone? Remember it?

IF NYC is so willing to unlearn every hard earned lesson from that era, then it deserves its fate, I guess. But it's an utter shame.

Peak safe NYC was a jewel. Times Square was a playground for normie tourists, and the rest of the city was safe enough that the residents could go almost anywhere and just do their thing.

174 @78 yup , but I don't think the NYC lunatics will agree to any type of restrictions on a bail out. They'll go full communist and start confiscating private property and money. The common council was leftist in the 70s but some had common sense. Mamdani and this bunch , forget about it

175 81 I still have the same question about the election in NYC: one day before the primary election Cuomo and Mamdani swapped places. There was a huge gap, Cuomo was comfortably leading, big margin. Then in a single day, they swapped positions.

How? What happened? Why this enormous change in polling data?

Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at September 29, 2025 05:59 PM (dfIr7)

B/c no one actually wanted Cuomo strong enough to show up to vote...and they still don't.

Honestly, I said an R could never win NY, but I think he has a better chance than Cuomo to turn out a voter, so if we drop to 2 folks in the race, Cuomo should be next...

180 Here's all you need to know about NYC's future. Currently...right this moment, the MTA (NY Transit Authority) is sitting on over $47 Billion in debt. Now, you may think to yourself..."Gosh, self, how are we going to get this debt under control? We're just a fraction of NYC's expenditures, and we're screwed."

Nope...instead, in June of this year they announced a $68.5 Billion overhaul of the entire system.

Now. Who doesn't want to see an inexperienced wide-eyed socialist have to deal with that conundrum. We'd have automatic content for the site as walls fall down, trains collide, and the subway starts betting pools on literal rat races.

Dane@UltraDane

On September 29, 2019, 3-year-old twins Raelynn and Payton Keyes died from neglect and heat stroke while in foster care. Their foster caregiver, Claudette Foster, had taken them and their two brothers to her boyfriend's house for the night.

The next morning, the boys, aged 8 and 6, reported that their sisters were missing. After a search in the 92°F heat, the girls were found deceased in the boyfriend's car, which had a temperature exceeding 150 degrees.

Two children were left like trash in a baking vehicle so Claudette, who had been reported numerous times for physical abuse against the twins, could see her boyfriend. Not once, in a span of 12 hours, cared for any of the 4 children as 2 of them died from the deadly heat in the car.

RIP little ones, you didn't deserve this fate, you were murdered by 2 entities, her and the state.

There's a move in Long Island to secede from Hochul's despotate and become State 51. In the last Census this island had over eight million souls... including Brooklyn and Queens.
I assume these are US citizens.
So if Mamdani takes Manhattan, can a countermove be to recognise Long Island as a State (or as part of Rhode Island, I'm not picky)? In which case at least the damage to NYC is limited to 3/5ths.

US and the West does not need a repeat of 1973 oil embargo. While the US would weather it better than Euroland, it would probably result in a massive recession as oil prices spiked. This would also get a shot in the arm for Putin, Iran and the sheiks.

PDT thinks globally and economics are part of the big picture as well as military action as well as the position of nations in the vicinity of Israel.

And as I mentioned a couple of days ago, you can only get away with massive force to destroy and make the rubble bounce immediately after a terrorist event like 9/11.

By two years later, for the majority of other nations have moved well on and will now call the US a bully for Afghanistan and later Iraq. They then sympathize with the underdog.

Interesting conundrum.

Brooklyn and Queens are New York City, but as counties/boroughs, can their respective councils vote to disincorporate from the City, form their own charters, and join up as counties in a new state of Long Island?

Does the State Assembly or Governor have the final say? I don't know what the State's mechanisms are for incorporating or disincorporating cities, and even less for the odd and unique amalgam that is New York City.

I think at a certain point it's just Calvinball, and Who Dares Wins.

After that was a lot of mopping up. In Iraq we did some coalition building, and that came later in Afghanistan. Perhaps it wasn't such a great idea to have acquired the reputation of COVID Cuomo when he could have accepted Trump's help in 2020. Personalities like Cuomo think that they will always be in power and could do as they pleased, it's called megalomaniac. If this is the best option for New York City, God help them.

258 We conquered Iraq and were eating out of Saddam’s fridge in record time. We also literally crushed the Taliban in short order with roughly two ODA’s and air support. After that was a lot of mopping up. In Iraq we did some coalition building, and that came later in Afghanistan. I won’t criticize any of the troops in either coalition, but we did most of the heavy lifting. That’s not because some of those meant couldn’t carry the load. It’s because their government weenies are a bunch of pussies. That goes doubly for the Euro Trash that now wants us to partner with them against Russia.

Iraq was not WWII era destruction which is a prerequisite to permanently change a society that had to unconditionally surrender. Same for Afghanistan or Vietnam for that matter.

To quell resistance, it requires something like 30-40 percent of all military age males be dead or handicapped, a helpless and non functioning economy to the point where people are starving, and thus, welcome occupation more or less as a chance to survive.

Otherwise, in most wars, you end up repeating over and over again because one side or the other does not feel they got beat bad enough.

But according to my research, many of our most prestigious private colleges are still providing financial benefits and other perks to undocumented students — shortchanging Americans in the process.

No, you get bogged down because your political leaders are indecisive cowards who yield to Leftist subversives in places like our DoS. We won those conflicts militarily, several times. Bush, his nation building assholes and those who followed right up to Biden just kept it going for their own reasons. They even went after Trump and subverted him as CiNC to keep it going. We probably could have avoided conquering Iraq in a military way. But when they made that decision, it should have been balls to the wall, kill everyone on the way and negotiate with those still breathing. Instead we got DoS involved in running the government and they outlawed the Ba’ath Party. That started the forever war and nation building jerkoff. We also knew better in AFG and state did almost the same thing.

Both Iraq and Afghanistan were wars of choice essentially. Bin Ladin could have been routed as a punitive expedition as the Brits liked to call such matters but both military high command and DoS decided not to let loose the dogs of war but then compounded the error by nation building.

Compare Iraq with the fire bombings of Tokyo and Dresden. Yes, our weapons are more precise, but to break a nation's will requires a huge butcher's bill or you get a repeat sometime in the future.

It took Linebacker I and II to drive the North Vietnamese back to the bargaining table.

What has changed though is that real time or near real time consequences of war can be seen by the world almost instantly. And that prevents sustained mass casualties operations by the West because of leftist anti US (or in Israel, anti Israeli) political opposition. Otherwise, people sort of get used to it like the massive bloodletting in Russia and Ukraine as no big deal.

Fighting humanely is a real challenge to winning modern warfare as it upends breaking the enemy will to resist by destroying their armies aka young men as a primary factor.
