Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Trump's So Scary That 100,000 Federal "Workers" Say They'll Resign on Tuesday In What Is Supposed to Be Some Kind of Blow to Us"The largest mass resignation in history." Wow. Even when Trump isn't doing anything at all, he's racking up the W's. Now, this seems to be woke DEI hires taking Trump's very nice deal of getting a nice separation package instead of being fired.US set for largest mass resignation in history as Trump continues deep cuts Federal workers say they have little choice but to depart, with 100,000 leaving under deferred resignation program The Trump administration is set to oversee the largest mass resignation in US history on Tuesday, with more than 100,000 federal workers set to formally quit as part of the latest wave of its deferred resignation program. With Congress facing a deadline of Tuesday to authorize more funding or spark a government shutdown, the White House has also ordered federal agencies to draw up plans for large-scale firings of workers if the partisan fight fails to yield a deal. Workers preparing to leave government as part of the resignation program -- one of several pillars of Donald Trump's sweeping cuts to the federal workforce -- have described how months of "fear and intimidation" left them feeling like they had no choice but to depart. "Federal workers stay for the mission. When that mission is taken away, when they're scapegoated, when their job security is uncertain, and when their tiny semblance of work-life balance is stripped away, they leave," a longtime employee at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (Fema) told the Guardian. "That's why I left." The total resignation program is set to cost $14.8bn, with 200,000 workers paid their full salary and benefits while on administrative leave for up to eight months, according to a Senate Democrats' report in July.I am not pleased by the generosity of this offer. Let's hope. Thanks to @ComradeArthur. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

They can now join the unemployment ranks of applying for jobs above their pay grade, not getting the job, and the cycle of Dim life continues. I think Elon needs to look at unemployment payments as well as Medicare/Medicaid fraud.
This is what the late atheist in law did in our family. He only applied to manager jobs vs starting at the bottom like the rest of us peons. He was manager one time for a grub hub, which made him emperor penguin. The rest of us plebs started at the bottom, went to college, and worked our way up by, well, working hard and showing up! I cleaned bedpans for heaven's sake! So he got 1/3 pay, very little, for years working this system (we were told this, anyway). He did this by going to two job interviews above him twice a week. Rejected. He had a very flat affect so I would not hire him, either. He blamed, no doubt, conservatives and the gubment and everyone who breathed. The rest of his time? He was a gamer. But that's not a "cost". Those fuckers were already getting paid that for years already to do sweet fuck all. It's money that was already heading for the sluices. Most Fed workers who are off the roles on Wednesday took a buyout. It's planned. They all get some form of retirement in perpetuity as long as they live...that's the deal they had anyway. They are no longer on at full salary and benefits. It saves money and the job slot is gone (cannot be refilled). So, it reduces future costs..which is a minor win.

-------- Mostly, no. The various agency/bureau/dept. HR departments, as well as the overall Federal retirement structure will coach employees to retire or separate from service when it most benefits them. This "mass resignation" is, IMO horseshit. Some may, but they'll be the ones with little to lose. And... can be rehired tomorrow if they so desire and have the motivation to go through the motions. The next step would be to get rid of the public unions. Even FDR was against public employee unions.
I think you probably could get the supreme court to agree that public employee unions are a bad idea Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at September 29, 2025 07:21 PM Unfortunately they are codified into federal law. "Guardian: Mormon church shooting suspect had Trump sign outside home, records show"
I'm still waiting on the 72 hour rule. One thing I'm waiting on is the final death count. LDS congregations usually have a special children's musical number in the fall, with all the kids ages 6-12 getting up and singing sometime after the sacrament. A lot of the churches were doing that this week. So potentially a LOT more grandparents and kids were in that crowd than normal for their sacrament meeting. Bless all those sweet families. Hundreds of thousands sat home for years doing little to nothing. Who suffered then? Consumers, children, veterans, etc. Who worked? Grocery store employees, transportation, big box workers, essential medical personnel.
--- Again, non-essential workers - including union officials and shop stewards and some managers - are on 'layoff' every time the federal government shuts down. They will not lose pay and benefits. But close the government for long enough and some of their benefits might lag behind. Posted by: L -No nic, another fine day at September 29, 2025 07:45 PM (NFX2v) 319

Specifically, 5 U.S.C. §7311, specifies that federal employees may not participate in a strike, assert the right to strike, or even belong to a union that “asserts the right to strike against the government of the United States.” Driving the point home, 18 U.S.C. §1918 makes it a felony to strike against the United States or belong to a union that asserts the right to strike against the United States. What’s more, the Office of Personnel Management can declare an individual who participates in a strike unsuitable for federal employment. Forever.
