Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Thursday Overnight Open Thread - September 25, 2025 [Doof]![]() Hopefully The ONT Isn't This Level of Yawn-worthy Young Woman Yawns So Strongly That She Breaks Her Neck A 36-year-old woman in the UK almost lost her life after yawning so forcefully one morning that she broke her neck and required emergency surgery. Hayley Black had just woken up one morning to heat her daughter Amelia a bottle of formula when she saw the baby yawning and instinctively followed her example. It was a casual thing, but the 36-year-old mother instantly felt an “electric shock sensation” shoot through her body, leaving her arm stuck in the air. Black immediately realized that something was wrong, so she asked her husband, Ian, to call an ambulance. When she arrived at the hospital in Milton Keynes, she was in excruciating pain, but doctors struggled to understand what was going on because their scans didn’t really show anything. It was only after taking scans of the woman’s neck that they realized the C6 and C7 bones in her neck had “shot forward into her spine”. *** Luckily for the English woman, doctors were able to perform emergency surgery and prevent any serious damage, like permanent paralysis due to low oxygen levels. However, the incident did leave her with permanent nerve damage and a tracheal scar from where doctors removed the discs in her neck. She spent six months in a wheelchair and had to re-learn how to walk. Haily has also developed fibromyalgia, a long-term condition that causes chronic pain. This particular day will be tough to beat. Anton Lawrence has been playing golf for 40 years and never once had a hole in one. Then, he stepped onto the teebox for Hole No. 8 at Cobbossee Colony Golf Course near Augusta, Maine. Lawrence was playing in a charity golf tournament with his youngest son, his brother who was in town from Louisiana, and his good buddy Mark. His swing on No. 8 felt pretty solid. The ball soared into the September sky and was soon bouncing on a perfect line toward the hole. And then, it dropped in. Lawrence had his first-ever hole in one – but there were still 10 holes to play. Magic arrived again on Hole No. 2. Lawrence was playing the course out of order thanks to the tournament’s format. He teed off on No. 2 and once again, his swing and shot seemed perfectly in sync. The golf ball sailed forward on an optimal path to the hole. This time, it hit the pin and fell in. Lawrence, who had played for four decades without once feeling the thrill of a hole in one, now had experienced it twice in the same round. Not related but somehow related

At least Bonham.didn’t inhale somebody else’s vomit.
Which probably wouldn’t have been that unusual, actually. I read a book about Zeppelin written by a roadie or somebody and they were all quite insane. The crazy stories you’ve heard are all true, and aren’t the half of it. There must he something specific about drummers that is especially toxic? Both Keith Moon and Bonham were real troublemakers. Bonham enjoyed launching the hotel furniture & refrigerators off balconies and things like that. Real drunk SOBs Posted by: Common Tater at September 25, 2025 10:14 PM (sSmN4) 49
Tim Walz Minnesota ad was quite powerful. I might move there to vote for him. Because of saps like Ellison and Walz, there is a convict connection there. I've seen numerous First 48 episodes where offenders from other states flee to MN because of coddling crime and generous welfare benefits. George Floyd was in prison in TX for 5 years, then went north to MN when he got out. We know how that ended.

After decades of bad to mediocre golf, I made a hole-in-one at a golf course near Butler, PA. I never saw it go in. I lost the ball in the air and didn't see it drop. Lots of early morning sun and shadows from the tree's were the culprit. The guys who let me pass them saw it though. They were more excited about it than I was. I don't think the ball even hit the green. Just dropped right in the hole. I needed instant replay, dammit! It was probably pretty cool.

The Washington Post writes that the head of the Pentagon urgently convened hundreds of generals and admirals without naming the reason, which greatly alarmed the U.S. military leadership.
It is known that absolutely every general and flag officer is being withdrawn from the Pacific. In the United States and dozens of other countries, about 800 generals and admirals serve simultaneously. In addition, even officials report: "People are very concerned and do not understand the significance of the event." BRAVO’S FINAL JUDGMENT” — In an earth-shattering move, Bravo has SLAPPED Eileen Davidson with a staggering $100,000 fine and issued a PERMANENT BAN from the network after her shocking public mockery of Charlie Kirk’s dea*h. What began as a single post has spiraled into one of the biggest scandals in Bravo history, igniting an unprecedented firestorm across reality TV. Insiders reveal network executives were “furious beyond repair,” branding her actions as not only reckless but an irreversible stain on the Bravo brand. Cast members across franchises are reeling, alliances are fracturing, and whispers suggest this could reshape how Bravo handles star behavior moving forward. “This is more than punishment,” one insider confirms. “It’s Bravo’s HARSHEST verdict yet — a message that no star, no matter how iconic, is untouchable.” Fans are stunned, reality stars are terrified, and Hollywood is in shock: Eileen Davidson didn’t just lose a paycheck — she’s been erased from Bravo forever. I tend to think that first two indictments on Comey are the opening act.
They needed to beat the statute of limitations, so they moved on what they had. BUT, I can't help wondering why the FBI and the DOJ went so quiet on those burn bags they found. The fact that Patel made a point to state that he, personally, found them suggests a whistleblower telling him exactly where to look. Then a black out on news related to that find. Yeah, I'm an optimist, but I think Comey better strap in. This is just the opening salvo. Posted by: Orson at September 25, 2025 10:26 PM (dIske) 88

Partly due to inflation, and cheapening. Lots of things don’t take up much room. A couple cases of toilet paper. Garbage bags. Cleaning supplies. I do believe in europe they used spruce in some of the heavy beams. Herman Hauser, the guy who built Segovia's 1937 Hauser guitar was walking along a road and came across a dude hacking out beams for a building, a barn if I remember right. It was supposedly a beautiful grade of spruce which is used for guitar tops. He called the dude a criminal, paid him for all the wood and his time and took it all. From what I understand, his grandson Herman Hauser III is still building guitars from that stash. Posted by: Berserker-Dragonheads Division at September 25, 2025 10:44 PM (snZF9) 163

The communal rope thing is not real at all. Now, sailors did use a rope of sorts, the frayed end of a used rope sometimes, which they let hang down in the water to be cleaned. I didn't know this, but "head" comes from that. You'd go to the front, or head of the ship, and do your business through some open slots or holes in the planks or something, said business falling into the water below. The Romans did use the sponge on the stick, but nobody every wiped their ass by dragging a rope like that. Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at September 25, 2025 10:51 PM (w6EFb) 182

My work during The Great Shitpaper Shortage of 2020 was going to fire people for snagging a roll out of the restrooms. Big 10 inch coreless rolls. I had like 20 cases of it in inventory at the time. I went to the owner and said this is bullshit people getting fired for trying to provide shitpaper to their family. There are 240 rolls in the shed, lets just give everybody a roll. He approved and I went around to everybody and offered a roll to take home. Only about 20 people took me up on the offer.

How in hell did this idiot graduate from the same university I did? I asked him why he wants to take my guns and why he thinks I should live in fear of rape and/or murder. I asked him if he actually ever listened to Charlie or if he just believed the crap the left says about him. So far no answer. I don't really expect one. John Solomon is reporting it true and he's very well connected with Kash. We talk everyday about the uniparty but I sometimes don't think people understand what that means. For decades they have been filling bureaucrat jobs across government in every department at every level with people who won't go after anyone who perpetuates the uniparty government. Party didn't really matter. We are still fighting a guerrilla war and it's hand to hand combat against people who hate us being fought by a relatively small group. The pulp process for making paper leaves an acidic product, unless it is manufactured to have a low acidity.
Generally TP is not considered to be something that needs to be low acid like archive grade typing paper. In the same vein, since a number of my batches of dried fruit were getting moldy while in the dryer, I have been trying out "sulfuring" to avoid that problem while drying. I have been burning a smidgen of sulfur powder with salt peter in the dryer with the fruit. Ut releases SO2, which combines with the moisture in the fruit. It was a traditional way to keep the fruit from turning brown while drying, but it does a nice job on keeping the mold out too. Posted by: Kindltot at September 25, 2025 11:42 PM (rbvCR) 301

I realize modern sensitivity and everything, but hindsight is 20/20. As late as 1943 four years in the Allies were still getting their ass handed to them in many theaters.
The internment of Japanese in America was an expensive proposition. There was no room for silliness at that time. If the order was given to do that, somebody was worried. The government overall, wasn’t taking any chances. Anyway fast forward today. How many illegal aliens are there? Who knows right? Well lets say 30 million. What if 5 or 10 percent of those had ill intent? Or say … even just 1 percent were really bad dudes, and got organized. 300,000 could really cause trouble like nothing ever seen. Even 3000 could bring everything to a standstill. I won’t say how, but it isn’t that tough. It just takes the determination. That’s why they interned so many foreign nationals in WWII. It was even illegal for them generally to own radios capable of receiving Short Wave, and no cameras or binoculars. Enrico Fermi had to drive everywhere for a while, as he was not allowed to fly. “Enemy Alien” being from Italy, you see. Posted by: Common Tater at September 26, 2025 12:13 AM (Htwr7) 360

For some reason today, I was thinking of the stories we were never told about the early space missions. Spend a week or so going to the Moon, you're going to "go" at some point. Diarrhea would be a very bad thing, and we had no idea back then what the effect of prolonged weightlessness on the human body would be. Good bet, and very unfortunate, that the grand jury probably balked at the original Count 1 (lying about being briefed that the RUSSIA! idiocy was in fact a stupid Clinton campaign gambit) because the vile Comey pretended he "couldn't remember". Apparently multiple bits of independent documentary evidence that he was briefed, not sure if those were presented to GJ or not. But as either Stephen McIntyre or Hans Mahncke speculate, GJ probably balked because it was the "don't recall" trick, impossible to prove as a lie. Some speculate that if indeed the USAT was sitting on the case, it wasn't fully developed, didn't use all available evidence, which *might* have helped that count clear the bar.
This whole thing of the EDVA guy not moving the case ahead (if true) is just another item to pile on top of the unbelievable behavior that has rendered the US essentially a Third World country. Navy chow (aboard ship) was always good in my limited experience. For obvious reasons.
The dining facilities overseas in festivities zones were generally very good. The smaller/more remote ones of course a bit simpler. But considering the circumstances, amazing, really. Of course in WWII US field kitchens were not bad at all. And there were the ingenious bits, like making ice cream in the South Pacific by filling a clean drop tank with ingredients and having a Corsair fly at altitude for a bit. There are some major celebs that I think will eventually find Jesus.
Look at Gwen Stefani. She's already there. I like to think that Katy Perry will return to her gospel roots as well someday. I imagine her final album being a gospel album. But others? Who knows. All we can do is pray. Last year I read Greg Laurie's book, "Lennon, Dylan, Alice and Jesus." Laurie believes that if only John Lennon could have survived getting shot in 1980, by now he'd be a born-again Christian. Laurie also wrote in the book that he hopes to find Lennon in Heaven. A major theme of the book is that, when we all get to God's place, we're going to be shocked by who we find there. Posted by: qdpsteve at September 26, 2025 01:13 AM (G5HPk) 448

Made progress on the Avanti project today. Made two captive nutplates, and refurbed two that were there, and pop-riveted them to the firewall, so the sheet-metal lower column support can be bolted in place from inside without a wrench on the engine side. Cut a piece of sheet metal, a little thicker than typical auto body steel, and trimmed it to fit, and cut a 2" hole in it with a hole saw. Forced it onto the column jacket, and put the column in the car, ensuring the rag joint was engaged. Screwed the bolts down lightly, and tack-welded the metal plate to the column. I was able to get it out of there without much difficulty. Tomorrow, I will finish the weld on the bench, grind it smooth, paint it, and install it for good.

I signed up for Facebook, trying to connect with some friends. Found some asshat I knew from college blowing hard about the poor immigrants, ICE kidnappings, all the usual lefty crap. He was blaming Charlie for his own death because he believed in the 2nd amendment. You could say I was provoked. So I asked him who should give up their guns. Me? Should I live in fear of being raped or murdered? I suggested he start by taking guns away from leftists who can't tell words from violence. I've been banned from Facebook. Of course they didn't say why, but I doubt it was the recipe exchange with a couple of my real friends. Posted by: tcn in AK, Pickle Queen of AK at September 26, 2025 03:07 AM (urtE/) 468
I have a buddy that sees blood whenever he hears The House Of The Rising Sun. He will go on a rampage and seek to destroy anyone who keys that ditty into a jukebox. Naturally, it is my duty to tweak his limits of civility at every occasion.

Was it 'Goodfellas' or 'Casino' that played 'The House Of The Rising Sun' while murdering some unfortunate mafiosi's in a variety of grisly ways.

It was Casino where the bosses were getting whacked after the arraignment. Maybe gangster boss Comey is due to be 86ed?

Dilemma. The fentynyl addict's girlfriend will be released from a detox center in Charlotte NC tomorrow morning. Her parents reside in Charlotte and place her in detox after driving to Dallas to visit her over a month ago. I assume this has been very expensive for them, both in terms of money and trust. But the life of a daughter is priceless.
The fentynyl addict himself has let slip he plans to pick the girl up when she is released tomorrow morning. He is still addicted and will drag her back down into the hell her family just rescued her from. I feel obligated to warn the father. I can probably find Mr Rose by reverse searching his daughter's phone number on people finder until I find a Lauren Rose with addresses in Boston (born there), Dallas and Charlotte. Part of me says don't get involved. The other parr says Lauren will die homeless if I don't warn her father. Posted by: Fenrisulven at September 26, 2025 04:33 AM (ciYHQ) 478
Good morning, good citizens of this most exceptional country. I only have 2 memories of Basic, shit am I tired and damn, I'm hungry. Only place the food was ever bad was the Transient Barracks at Dix while you were waiting assignment. Found out what rare chicken was like. Babylon DC Fox Newz affiliate has lots of pearl clutching about #BADORANGEMAN this morning. His 'threat' in regard to the Smithsonian for instance. I will assume that, once again, Trump is over target.

Meh. I don't know why I'm asking. This is a no brainer, I don't see any downside to warning the father.
